Win at Skegness puts women on top

Stamford women moved to the top of the Trudy Bates Lincolnshire A League with a comprehensive victory at Skegness where they took 12 of the 16 points available.

With Spalding's match at home to Boston being played simultaneously but the result still to come, it at least temporarily gave Stamford a three point advantage over their nearest rivals.

Thanks to a seven shot haul on the last end Louise Harris, Sue Gentry, Margaret Broadbelt and skip Flick Rogers took the rink honours 28-12.

MIXED UP AND DOWN SEASON CONTINUES

Stamford Mixed team's topsy turvy season continued with a runaway 127-56 home defeat of third place Louth B, landing a maximum 18 points, taking them into fourth place.

With Lincoln B to play at home on Sunday, they are just ten points behind leaders Dunholme , whom they have already beaten.

FEDERATION LATEST

Richard Allam and Derek King secured a bit of an upset when they beat Adam Warrington and Martyn Dolby 17-15 in a Federation pairs thriller. They led 15-11 but dropped four on the 20th end before picking up two shots on the last end.

In the same discipline, Paul Dalliday and Tristan Morton won 18-13 against Doug Want and Kevin Vinter.

Stephen Harris, Cliff Watson and Peter Edwards beat Bob Warters, Tony Scarr and Roger Martin 26-13 in the triples.

Alan Romaine has teamed up with Bob and Carol Warters to reach the semi-finals of the mixed triples, beating Jan and Doug Want and Pete Linnell 19-16.

FOURS GO OUT

In the Lincs county rinks Mick Humphreys, Mick Linnell, Adam Warringtin and Jon Earl were beaten 17-9 by national fours champions Matt Whyers, Graham Smith, Martin Spencer and Matt Orrey.
