TEN-year-old Olly Jeapes, one of the Stamford Indoor Bowls Club's talented youngsters, will face world indoor singles champion Mark Dawes in the first round of the Spalding Open Singles on Sunday morning (December 29).

Son of former England under 25 international Michael and brother of Amia (12) - another bowler with great potential - Olly is the current Stamford IBC junior singles champion and plays at 9.20 am. His dad faces Scot Stewart Douglas less then two hours later.

Other Stamford bowlers taking part are Christine Ford, who faces Sleaford's Paul Roberts in the preliminary round and Tony Barwell, practising hard this week ahead of his meeting with former world No.1 Nick Brett (Saturday 6pm and 7.30pm respectively).

Stephen Harris, a member at both Stamford and Spalding, takes on Grantham's Jason Lewis.

Other internationals participating include Wayne Willgress and his wife Rebecca, women's world champion Katherine Rednall and Spalding's multiple singles champion Graham Smith.

Stamford's Stephen Harris is among those hoping to qualify.
