Stamford Men's B match v Louth B called off

Lincolnshire Men's League Division Two team Louth B have advised they are conceding the scheduled fixture with Stamford B on Saturday (March 23) as they cannot raise a team -even of the minimum required (15).

According to the rules of the league, this is likely to earn Stamford B the extra points they need to clinch the second division title, by default.

League rules state that if a match is cancelled and cannot be re-scheduled before the end of the season, the club that transgresses loses 25 points from their total.

In turn Stamford B will receive an average of the points they have already achieved (110) divided by the number of matches played (9) rounded up (13). According to our reckoning, this would be more than enough to clinch the second division title.

So congratulations Stamford B who will no doubt look forward to playing Stamford A in two keenly contested matches in next season's first division.
