Robinson and Ford reach singles semi-finals

At the finals of the English Bowling Federation championships at Newark, Stamford IBC bowlers Joan Robinson and Christine Ford, representing Northants, have both qualified for the semi-finals of their respective singles disciplines.

Results so far

Wednesday, April 19: men's triples - Michael Humphreys, Chris Ballard (sub for John Holroyd), Kevin Vinter lost to Derbyshire 15-19 ; mixed triples - Adam Warrington, Christine Ford, Martyn Dolby beat Suffolk, beat Norfolk 29-8, lost to Derbyshire 19-25; women's triples - Fiona Richardson, Margaret Linnell, Julie Masters lost to Notts 10-18.

Thursday, April 20: men's pairs - Nick Wilkie & Joe Randall lost to Derbyshire 17-19; senior singles - Joan Robinson beat N Cambs, beat Hunts 21-18; women's pairs - Jan Want & Denise Mackie lost to Lincs 8-24.

Friday, April 21: men's singles - Martyn Dolby lost to N Essex 15-21; mixed pairs - Carol Hunter & Joe Martin lost to Norfolk; women's singles - Chris Ford beat N Essex 21-19, beat Suffolk 21-6; men's veteran singles - Bob Warters lost Northumberland 12-21.

SATURDAY

Sadly Joan Robinson's hopes of reaching the final were dashed by Northumberland's former national president Karen Weites 21-19.

Chris Ford campaign also came to an end, beaten 21-11, after Stephen Harris lost 21-9 in the Under 25 2-bowl singles.
