Juniors just fail against Desborough

Stamford's young bowlers lost 30-29 to Desborough (Northants) in the opening round of the national Under 25 two-rink triples on Saturday putting up a terrific performance.

They were holding their opponents overall in the 18-end match but stumbled over the last handful of ends.

The Stamford home side of Owen Aspinall, Noah Tarrabad and Katie Bailey lost by four at home but away, Olly Jeapes, Helen Holroyd and Jay Travis-Jenner had a chance to snatch overall victory from the jaws of defeat. But Jay's last bowl - in a bid to trail the jack - just failed to produce the desired result.
