After a delayed start, because of traffic chaos, which put the Stamford women on the back foot, they finally came through their opening Lincs League match at Boston in style.

Their 107-93 shot victory gave them a 13-3 points win which sets up the season nicely ahead of their next game at home to Skegness on October 30.

Taking the rink honours was the quartet of Jun Brennan, Janet Lonslow, Peggy Birch and Rose March, who scored 14 shots in five ends and went on to win 30-10.

A similar surge came from Sue Moir's rink with 12 in six ends for a 24-15 win and 11 without reply from Denis Mackie's four to earn a crucial point. Chris Ford's rink picked up four on the last end to win by one.
