FORD & CO WIN THROUGH LOCAL DERBY

Several of the Stamford ladies team were in action again on Friday when they clashed in a national fours match.

After Katie Bailey killed the last end when trailing by three shots against a rink skipped by clubmate Christine Ford but her quartet were able only to pick up two shots in the replayed 18th end, losing 21-22.

Earlier Helen Holroyd, Jeanette Bourne, Louise Harris and Bailey turned a 9-2 deficit into a 12-9 lead with counts of five and three before Ford and her team - Christine Barnes, Margaret King and Sue Moir - picked up 13 shots in nine ends to lead 22-17 with three ends to play to set up an exciting finish.

Ford now plays Chelsea Tomlin's Spalding rink. BW
