Draw for annual Molson Coors Christmas tournament

STAMFORD IBC's annual Christmas tournament, sponsored by brewers Molson Coors, has attracted a maximum 24 teams and will be played the day after Boxing Day (Wednesday, December 27).

Teams of four will play four eight-end matches in two sections, scoring two points for a win and one for every end won. The best overall score will take the £60 first prize with shots difference determining the winner in the event of a tie on points.

Among the competitors are two teams of young players entered by coach Helen Holroyd.

The draw is as follows:

9.30am: P Bailey v S Suffling; M Holden v H Shipp; J Winfield v R March; P Birch v D Howarth; G Cameron v H Holroyd Team 1; W Aspinall v D Mackie.

10.30am: H Holroyd Team 2 v N Handley; B Warters v A Lonslow; M Parker v D King; K Vinter v S Harris; D Hudson v I Reading, McNaughton v Christie.

Teams are requested to arrive at least 20 minutes before their first start time to allow for registration.

In the EIBA men's fours, Paul Dalliday, Stephen Harris, James Harford and Martyn Dolby (substituting for Simon Law) overcame a March combination skipped by Stephen Glover 17-7.

The Stamford quartet trailed 2-5 in the early stages before coming to terms with the carpet and conceded only one shot in seven ends before the visitors called it a day. They now entertain Graham Smith's Spalding rink in the next round.

Three Stamford IBC bowlers - Martyn Dolby, Simon Law and Stephen Harris - featured in the Lincs county team which beat Yorkshire 142-97 yesterday ( December 16) to reach the quarter-finals of the Liberty Trophy against either Cumbria or Durham on January 13.
