Against Lincoln & District IBC, last year's beaten semi-finalist and finalists the year before, Stamford crashed out of the Egham Inter-club Trophy beaten in three of the four mixed rinks.

Only the home Stamford quartet of Wayne Aspinall, Moira Holroyd, Katie Bailey and Adam Warrington, emerged successful with a 31-16 defeat of Lincoln captain George Draper's rink.

Elsewhere, the Lincoln home rinks skipped by Danny Brown and former world singles champion Billy Jackson, showed their class with comfortable wins respectively against James Harford and Simon Law.

Credit to all the Stamford players, who had earlier beaten Boston and Spalding, for sticking to their task and giving a battling account of themselves against a high quality Lincoln team.

STAMFORD PLAYERS FEATURE IN DERBYSHIRE TRIUMPH

Bowlers from Stamford outdoor and indoor club's featured in Northants Federation A's timely victory over North Cambs at Wisbech on Sunday.

With Stephen Harris leading and Tony Scarr backing him at No.2, skip Martyn Dolby steered his trip to a 27-11 victory, which included 13 shots in seven ends from the 17th.

Roger Martin's rink - with Mick Humphreys and Trevor Collins - also took command midway with 11 shots in six ends to pull back a 6-9 deficit and eventually run out 25-17.
