For the first time in the club's history Stamford IBC's Denny Plate and Yetton Trophy men's and women's teams will compete side-by-side in their respective events on Saturday (10am), hoping each will inspire the other.

Traditionally the women have competed midweek but to encourage more who work to have the chance to compete, the national ruling body has switched matches to weekends.

So with two rinks of men taking on Sleaford in the Denny Plate, Stamford's women face a formidable task against Spalding, one of the best club sides in the country. Each team will also have two rinks playing away from home simultaneously with aggregate scores to count.

Denny Plate ( v Sleaford): Home - D Hudson, C Watson, D Want, P Edwards; S Harris, M Humphreys, J Earl, M Dolby. Away - R Allam, D King, A Warrington, P Bailey; J Holroyd, A Barnes, B Warters, Roger Martin.

Yetton Trophy (v Spalding) : Home - B Sims, E Wallace, R March, P Birch; J Robinson, C Barnes, F Rogers, M Bloxham. Away - J Brennan, C Warters, S Suffling, C Ford; J Want, D Mackie, M Holroyd, G Edwards.

Stamford A entertains a rink from Sleaford B in the first round of the National Over 60 Double rink on Tuesday (10am).

The team (one rink at home, the other away, playing simultaneously) reached the inter-area final last year beating former winners Boston and Lincoln on the way, before finally going out to Nottingham, the eventual winners.
