Second Stamford four in county semi-finals

Post date: Mar 14, 2020 9:01:05 AM

The Stamford quartet of Martyn Dolby, Mick Linnell, Neil Wright and Adam Warrington are scheduled to play Jonathan West's Boston rink in the semi-finals of the Lincs IBA championship at Spalding on March 28 ( see also update above).

They reached the last four with a comprehensive 23-9 defeat of club colleagues Pete Linnell, Ron Blake, Ally McNaughton and Darren Middleton. Turning point came on the 12th end when at 12-7 the jack was trailed for a four count from which the Middleton's rink failed to recover.

In the other semi-final another Stamford rink of Dave Hudson, Mick Owens, Tony Scarr and Alan Barnes are due to play Martin Tomlin's Boston four, but the event is in doubt because of the coronavirus outbreak which has already led to national finals at Northampton and Nottingham being postponed.

The county is considering its position and is due to make a decision within the next few days.

Meanwhile Stamford's A team game at Spalding today (March 14) and mixed match at home to Spalding tomorrow (March 15) are due to go ahead.

Northants Bowling Federation finals are set to be completed at Peterborough IBC on Sunday, from 10 am
