Set up by Ian Cooper and fellow director Gary Hall to offer financial and estate planning, the deal also features a wall banner displayed in the Stamford stadium, which now boasts a membership of more than 600 and is entirely run by volunteers.

Mr Cooper whom, with his partner Jayne, is currently taking part in Saturday morning bowls introductory course, was also represented at the President's Tournament when the following won bottles of wine from the sponsor - Margaret Andrews, Anne Holmes, Nicola Cole, Neil Wright and John Hawkins.

WILL IT BE QUEEN ELIZABETH?

Oakham based bowler Elizabeth Wallace (Ketton BC) will contest her first Northants Women's Federation indoor final on March 18 at Peterborough IBC after beating Fiona Richardson 21-20 in the Senior singles, scoring two shots on the last end.

She will meet Joan Robinson for the Trophy which bears her name after Robinson received a walk over from Hazel Bass in the other semi-final.

Wallace was also due to meet Richardson in the four-bowl singles semi-final this week for the right to play England triallist Helen Holroyd who beat Christine Ford 21-12.

In men's Federation competitions there was a win for Mick Humphreys and Roger Martyn over Adam Warrington and Martyn Dolby (20-15). Elsewhere in the pairs, Richard Montgomery lost to Ray Keating by a similar score, while Peter Edwards and his partner received a concession from Cliff Watson.

In the four-bowl singles Martyn Dolby continued his defence of the title beating Peter Cox 21-9 and now plays Nick Wilkie. Cox, however, beat Mike Ramsden 21-18 in the veteran singles and now faces Derek King, who beat Tony Barwell 21-7.

Paul Dalliday, James Harford and Simon Law pulled back from 1-7 in the two-bowl triples to take control against Howard Shipp, Nick Wilkie and Bob Warters, with a series of superb conversion shots to win 23-8.

HARRIS MAKES HIS MARK

Singles specialist Stephen Harris reached the semi-final of the prestigious Spalding Under 25 Open at the weekend against a strong field including several young internationals.

Qualifying second in his group of six with five wins, playing best of three 3-end sets, which included Ely's Ed Elmore and Connor Cinato (Kingsthorpe), he eventually beat Spalding's Ruby Hill in the quarter-finals after one bowl shoot-out.

Harris finally picked up a £75 consolation prize, beaten 2-1 by Glen Williams (Riverain) who himself lost to Cinato in the final.

SENIOR LIBERTY SHAKE-UP

Malcolm Smith has been drafted in to the Lincolnshire Over 60 side to contest the Senior Liberty National Knock-out semi-final at St Neots IBC on February 20 (10.30am) against Norfolk.

He joins Martyn Dolby's rink of Doug Want and Peter Edwards. With Tony Scarr unavailable, the other Stamford rink will be Alan Romaine, Malcolm Cullingworth, Bob Warters and Roger Martin. Completing the county line-up will be players from Boston, Lincoln, Skegness and Horncastle.
