Our Friendly fighting force were getting closer to their first away win this season against Melton Mowbray this Sunday. They actually led by a couple of shots at the half way stage during their 21 end encounter. Their captain Denis Stapleton, watching from the sidelines, could hardly contain himself and had to stagger into a darkened room and lie in a recovery position until the excitement subsided. Upon venturing out again his joy turned to disappointment as he looked at the scoreboard. We were on the slippery slope again, although this time not quite so disastrous .

We finished losing 137 - 97, Only three shots off a ton dammit ! Our next spate of Friendlies include a run of home fixtures. Time for the tide to turn. Fingers crossed and watch this space!

Our brightest note was the superb win of 28 - 13 by Rosemary Roberts, Peter Almond, Pam Barton and skip Mark Hebden. The rinks of Janet Dye, Maggie Holden, Pauline Dixon, Maurice Dye and Arthur Chapman, Serena Brunning, Tim Stokes, Colin Lunn came close to winning, both finishing at 18 -18. The remaining three rinks unfortunately had one of those days when, whatever they did nothing would go right, Their results were; James Hebden, Daphne Lowe, Arthur Lonslow, Trevor Christie lost 10 -20, Diane Lunn, Eileen Purvis, John Purvis, Graham Scothern lost 11 - 30, Kevin Toner, Margaret Grainger, Steve Brown, David Thorpe lost 13 -32. Our next spate of Friendlies include a run of home fixtures. Time for the tide to turn. Fingers crossed and watch this space!
