Great start for Mixed team in Lincolnshire Division Two

Stamford Indoor Bowls Club's mixed team, desperately unlucky to be relegated from the top tier of the Lincolnshire League last season, got their 2013 campaign off to a flying start with maximum points in their opening Division Two fixture against Dunholme.

In their first competitive match on refurbished carpet, the home team took time to settle to the quicker pace of the green but as the match reached the halfway stage all rinks moved up a gear and finally ran out winners by more than 70 shots.

Captain Margaret Bloxham tried out some new team combinations but overall had no complaints over the outcome which augurs well for a quick return to the top flight.

Results (Stamford names first):

Lincs Mixed League Division Two: Stamford 142 (18 pts), Dunholme 68 (0).
