Stamford Trio Selected to play for County in National Final

Louise Harris, Katie Bailey (pictured above) and Helen Holroyd have been named in the Lincolnshire indoor bowls team to contest the final of the delayed national inter-county championship for the Atherley Trophy at Nottingham on October 3.

Harris and Bailey will represent Stamford IBC against Sussex while Holroyd, a Stamford Town outdoor bowler, now plays at Lincoln IBC.

HARRIS IN THREE FEDERATION FINALS

Twenty-four-year-old Stephen Harris from the Blackstones Bowls Club and representing Northants, will contest four titles when the English Bowling Federation indoor championships take place at Newark from October 5-9.

The England under 25 indoor international features in the men's pairs, mixed pairs and Under 25 singles. He has also been selected for Northants' Inter-county Derbyshire Trophy team which defends it title against Durham on October 10.

In the pairs, he and Wayne Morris take on Norfolk, while in the mixed triples he returns to join John and Moira Holroyd (Stamford Town) against Durham as a replacement for Wayne Aspinall who played in the county final but is awaiting knee surgery.

In the under 25 singles Stephen's opponent is from Lincolnshire.

Martyn Dolby, Jon Earl and Adam Warrington all compete in two competitions. They play together with against Suffolk or Derbyshire in the triples, with Dolby contesting the senior singles against Northumberland, Earl the pairs with Katie Bailey against Durham and Warrington facing the Hunts representative in the four-bowl singles.

It's a similar story for Northants in the women's competitions where Christine Ford chases three titles and Shirley Suffling two.

Ford is in the four-bowl singles against Suffolk and then joins her Ketton clubmate Suffling in the pairs against Durham or Suffolk and the triples against Derbyshire.

Completing the women's individual line-up is Joan Robinson (Yaxley) in the senior singles.
