DESPITE a late rally, Stamford's mixed team suffered another setback to their hopes of retaining the Lincs League first division title - beaten by just seven shots at Lincoln, conceding 12 of the 18 points at stake.

Stamford players, several of whom were experiencing the faster Lincoln conditions for the first time, took a while to settle but at half way, from 20 shots behind, levelled the scores at 43 apiece.

However, with one Stamford rink struggling to cope with the accuracy of the home opposition, it was always an uphill battle and despite winning on three rinks, the team had to finally concede the overall points.

Result (Stamford names only):

Lincs Mixed League Division One: Lincoln 94 (12 pts) Stamford 87 (6).
