Friendly Team's narrow defeat away from home.

Post date: Jan 18, 2015 10:13:57 PM

Our Friendly team have done it again. After being in contention at the halfway stage at Sleaford, they slid down the slippery slope to lose by 114 to 104 in spite of winning four out of the six rinks. Their captain Denis Stapleton, who has adopted 'Frustration' as his middle name, is thinking of applying for a ruling to change the match format to nine ends only ! To stem the tide he has suggested everything from three shredded wheat instead of two for breakfast and others which are not suitable for print.

On a more serious note, we are still looking for players to enable us to field 24 players (6 rinks of 4 ) and if you would like to venture into the area of friendly but competitive bowls for the first time do please put your name on the team sheets, which are on the notice board opposite the bar, for possible selection.

Scores, Stamford names only: Diane Lunn, Peter Almond, Tim Stokes won 15 - 10; Linda Bassett, Pam Barton, Trevor Christie won 21 - 16; Rosemary Roberts, Denis Stapleton, Colin Lunn won 21 - 17; Arthur Chapman, James Hebden, Mark Hebden won 17 - 16; Serena Brunning, Daphne Lowe, Bruce Acock lost 11 - 20; Janet Dye, Maggie Holden, Maurice Dye lost 9 - 25.
