NEW STAMFORD IBC presidents for the 2016-17 season are Denis Stapleton and his partner Maggie Holden (pictured left) from Deeping St James.They succeed Bob and Carol Warters and were inducted with their chains of office at the club's annual presentations on Saturday attended by almost 100 members, who enjoyed a free buffet - proceeds of prizemoney received after its players won the Lincs Co-op-sponsored Mixed (Division Two) and Junior Leagues.The couple, respectively a former marketing executive with a local publishing company and a retired teacher, jointly run the weekend friendly matches and are determined to carry on the club's traditions, since it was formed in 1990.Among the prize winners were primary school pupils Charlie Priestley and Owen Aspinall and 94-year-old former paratrooper Arthur Chapman.

James Hebden made his first foray into national competition, beating Peterborough IBC's Josh Clark in the first round of the EIBA Under 18 singles. He won in straight sets (11-4, 9-7) and now meets either Aaron or Danielle Wild (Spalding). James was also a member of the side which retained the Lincs IBA Junior League title, alongside Stephen and Louise Harris and Jay-Travis Jenner (pictured).

TONY Freeman's Senior side, competing in the second division of the Lincs Over 60s league, chalked up their first win of the season, defeating Long Sutton at home 115-92, to claim 14 valuable points, following two successive defeats.Two runaway wins from rinks skipped by Kevin Vinter and Richard Martin provided the platform for the victory, when Dennis Henshaw's quartet also chipped in with an 11-shot triumph.Result (Stamford names only):

Christine Ford represented Lincolnshire in the Midland Counties League match against Notts at Newark, playing No.3 to the experienced Di Wilson-Rogers (Boston). They lost on their rink but Lincs won overall. BW
