First for women in Lincs IBA competition

Post date: Aug 8, 2019 7:41:19 PM

FOR THE first time women can take part in the Lincs IBA Open sets singles following strong canvassing by the club to the men's and women's county associations. Three - Shirley Suffling, Elizabeth Wallace and Christine Ford - have taken up the option.

Ford last year became the first woman to reach the semi-final of the over 60 Open singles.

Thanks to the re-formulation of the Thursday evening Fours league, rink space has been created for Lincs IBA and Northants Federation competitions on some of those evenings. However bowlers will have to make their own bookings.

Stamford IBC will this year host the county Under 25 qualifying event on February 23, 2020 (from noon).

Qualifying venues will be as follows: Men's Singles: Saturday, February 8 (from 9am) at Grantham; Open Sets Singles: Saturday, February 15 (from 12 noon) at Louth; Over 60 Open Singles: Sunday, February 16, ( from 12 noon) at Boston.

Lincs IBA semi-finals will be held on Saturday, March 28 ( from 9am) at Spalding with the county finals on Sunday, April 19 at Lincoln.
