EX-RUGBY player Kevin Vinter and former teacher Rosemary Roberts were installed as presidents of Stamford Indoor Bowls Club this week for the forthcoming season.

The pair, who both live in the town, succeed Denis Stapleton and Maggie Holden, who completed a year in office which included several county titles for the club in both Lincolnshire IBA and the Northants Federations.

Vinter, a former purchasing manager who won his first county title earlier this year, said it was a great honour to be invited to be Presidents and that he and Rosemary aim to keep up the good work of their predecessors both on and off the green.

Said Mrs Roberts, who retired from teaching at Uffington Village School: "Volunteering makes you happy and I encourage as many as possible to do it."

Recently asked an unusual fact about themselves, Kevin revealed he had once run the New York marathon in just over three hours, while Rosemary, won several prizes clay pigeon shooting.

Prize winners for 2016-17 domestic leagues and club competitions can be found on the drop down men menus for 'Club leagues' and 'Honours' tabs at the top of the page.
