Our Friendly team have won two matches on the trot. Ok, the first one was against Deeping whose side is made up of mainly members who bowl indoors at Stamford. But captain Denis Stapleton was doubly delighted having beaten them in their first encounter earlier in the season. In this convincing 140 - 85 shots win our best rink was that skipped by Trevor Christie who after a relatively lean spell has come back to form.

The rink scores were(Stamford names only): Kevin Toner, Colin Lunn, Trevor Christie 35, Hazel Bullock, Neil Handley, Roy Stevenson 11; Arthur Chapman, Stan Godfrey, Peter Herrick 25, Peter Afford, Ruby Randall, Barry Wilkinson 12; James Hebden, Diane Lunn, Mark Hebden 22, Terri Handley, Dave Owen, Pearl O'Brian 11; Janet Dye, Maggie Holden, Maurice Dye 28, Janet Moore, Dave Lazell, Doug Ellis 12; Lyn Roberts, Jane Boother, Pauline Dixon 16, Joy Winfield, Pam Owem, Nick Cook 21, Melvin DeCamps, Denis Stapleton, Tim Stokes 14, Ken Simmons, Jean Pearson, Charles Baillie 18.

Our second win by 99 - 89 was revenge after a somewhat convincing collapse at Charnwood Loughborough a couple of weeks ago. The success was mainly due to an impressive rink win of 27 - 10 led in exuberant style by newly found skip Arthur Lonslow who was more than ably supported by Serena Brunning and newcomer to the friendly scene June Taylor.

The rink scores were (Stamford names only) James Hebden, Vanesssa Shackleton, Mark Hebden won 15 - 14; Robin Taylor, Stuart Shackleton, Bob Warters lost 15 - 22; Arthur Chapman, Daphne Lowe, Carol Warters lost 15 - 16; Steve Brown, David Thorpe, Roger Graham lost 9 - 17; Kevin Toner, Peter Almond, Mike Ramsden won 18 - 10, June Taylor, Serena Brunning, Arthur Lonslow won 27 - 10.

It was encouraging to see several players competing in the Friendly, nevertheless, competitive scene for the first time. Which can hopefully be a stepping stone to playing in the more serious and competitive matches.
