Stamford Indoor Bowls Club is hoping the game's governing body's interpretation of new government guidelines regarding playing indoor bowls will bring a positive outcome.

The club re-opened after a five month closure on August 17 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Says club chairman Keith Rippin: " I have been in contact with the EIBA and they have a Board Meeting tomorrow. They will be updating their guidance (which will need to be agreed by the Department for Digital Culture, Media and Sport and until we receive this or are otherwise officially told we cannot continue ( for example specific instruction on Gov.uk website) we will continue for the time being.

" I have posted a message to that effect on Facebook. We will however need to carefully consider any revised guidance that is issued to ensure we continue to comply as a Covid-19 Secure Indoor Sports venue.

"In the meantime," he adds " it is imperative that all members continue to observe the rules and regulations we have in place."

FOOTNOTE: The club is in its second week of domestic league play.

DEATH OF DAVE CHANDLEY

Stamford IBC is sad to report the death of Sleaford IBC bowler Dave Chandley, father of Stamford's Neil Wright and well known as one of his club's most competitive players. Our sympathy to the family for their loss.
