Stamford's Over 60s team has made a flying start to its season and already look promotion candidates after their second successive win - this time against Sleaford.

Wins for the rinks skipped by John Geary, Albert Horton, Ray Harvey and Richard Martin secured 16 points ahead of this week's visit to Spalding.

Against newly relegated Boston, Stamford B can only take the positives from a heavy defeat by 51 shots.

These included a bright debut at lead for Wayne Aspinall, who has only been playing bowls for two years and a narrow two-shot loss for the rink skipped by ex-Peterborough stalwart Cliff Watson after forging ahead 15-11 after 15 ends. Dropping 10 shots in three ends eventually proved their downfall on the slick Boston surface.
