Stephen Harris and Martyn Dolby face one of the biggest matches of their bowling careers on Sunday when they take on Lincoln IBC manager Danny Brown and his pairs partner Billy Jackson, the 2012 World indoor singles champion at Boston in the Area final of the national four-bowl pairs.

It will be a tough task on the slick Boston surface but they are up for the task and confident they can give a good account of themselves.

Sadly their preparation was not helped by a defeat at Spalding earlier this week in the quarter finals of the Lincs pairs. Against International Graham Smith and his pairs partner Ashley Caress they trailed 2-11 but with Smith in particular in impeccable drawing form they finally conceded after a six and three count 8-24.

Elsewhere Alan Romaine reached the play-off stages of the Over 65 singles with a 21-20 defeat of clubmate Mike Ramsden, whom when leading 20-18 tried to kill the end only to drop three shotson the 're-spot' rule.

Following an outstanding win against the experienced Peter Banks in the club singles, promising teenager Jay Travis-Jenner won the area play-off of the English Junior Skills Test at Grantham, out -scoring Spalding's talented Ruby Hill with more than 80 points.

Having lost to Hill in an 8-end singles but securing points in two other matches, Jay scored highly in jack casting, drawing to the ditch and other skill tests to reach the regional finals at Melton in first place. Louise Harris and Nathan Rigby also took part but failed to qualify.
