Mixed team steps up its promotion challenge with big win at Louth

Stamford IBC's mixed team took another giant stride toward reclaiming their place back in the top tier of the Lincolnshire Indoor League when they trampled Louth B by 81 shots claiming maximum points.

The home team who are propping up the Second Division offered only sporting resistance and had little response to captain Margaret Bloxham's re-shuffled team, which ran away with four rinks before John Little's quartet claimed five shots on the last end to complete the rout.

Stamford now trail league leaders Louth A by nine points with two games in hand and face a trip back to North Lincolnshire in a week's time.

Stamford Men's Over 60s team managed only three points from their Second Division trip to Sleaford, while the Men's B team salvaged only one winning rink from their visit to Long Sutton with a depleted squad.

Stamford IBC will host the second round of the Derbyshire Trophy Inter-County Federation matches on Sunday (10am) when Northants play North Cambs - three rinks at Stamford, three at Wisbech.

Despite the defeat last week, the Northants teams are expected to be similar to that which played in the first encounter against Lincolnshire Federation.
