Unique seaside win for Stamford women

For the first time anyone in the club can remember, Stamford's women's team returned from Skegness with more than a stick of rock! Their three winning rinks was enough to claim a 9-7 points advantage in their Lincolnshire League clash.

In an exciting tussle the shotscores finished level at 100 apiece but by virtue of winning more rinks, Stamford took home a narrow points advantage.

Said Stamford captain Glenys Edwards: " I have played in these matches for many years and this is the first time I can remember us winning more points, even though we finished level on shots."

With their tricky surface, Skegness is always a difficult place to pick up points, so full credit to the rinks skipped by Edwards, Christine Ford and Peggy Birch for giving Stamford the opportunity to break their duck at the seaside.

The result leaves Stamford just a point behind leaders Spalding, who have a game in hand.
