Helen Holroyd, aged 21, and Louise Harris (18) beat Helen's mother Moira and Glenys Edwards 17-14 to set up a final against either clubmates Rose March and Denise Mackie or Peterborough's Jenny Harvey and Carol Hunter.

Skip Louise, a shop supervisor and Helen, a student, trailed 9-11 but switched positions with six ends to play and finished strongly, including two three-counts to run out winners by four shots.

Said Helen: "Mum beat me 21-16 in the club singles last night, so it was pay-back time!"

Ketton's Carol and Bob Warters teamed up with Roger Martin (City of Peterborough) to reach the final of the Northants Federation mixed triples with a 21-3 defeat of fellow Stamford IBC members Helen Holroyd, Paul Bailey and Jonathan Earl.

Delivering almost minimum length jacks, Carol consistently put the opponents under pressure and after scoring on only two ends, they conceded after 12 ends.
