When a dwindling and aging membership was unable to sustain Belton Gardens bowls club at its venue in Recreation Ground Road in Stamford, it sadly had to fold in 2011.

However, many of its members kept their interest in the game by joining Stamford & District Indoor Bowls Association and this week two of its stalwarts Don together with Dorothy Jackson, a former President of the indoor club, presented the club with a cheque for £12,000 so that the outdoor club's memory might be perpetuated under one roof.On behalf of their former club, the couple presented a cheque to be used toward improving facilities and especially to purchase a defibrillator to be kept within easy reach in emergencies to increase survival chances of anyone who suffers a sudden cardiac arrest. Said Don, a former Belton Gardens chairman "When Belton Gardens had to close we were still quite a wealthy club and have used some funds to make various contributions to charities. But we couldn't forget Stamford & District IBA which has enabled many of our members to keep playing."We felt that to also provide a defibrillator would be quite beneficial. As for the rest we trust the club will use it wisely, " said Don, whom with his wife is also a life member of Stamford IBC.
