April 17, 1981: Cliff Barnes found a dead woman in the Southfork pool, and J.R. up there looking from the balcony...Who had killed whom? Previously, of course, J.R. had argued with three women (actually, four, if take into account his secretary Louella, whom he had fired for not doing her work properly...out of the bed): his wife Sue Ellen, who had just left him for Dusty Farlow, and had promised to get her son back; his sister-in-law Pam, who had taken the child to her without his permission; and finally, his other sister-in-law Kristin Shepard (Mary Crosby), who had been blackmailing him using the baby she had supposedly had with him. The three women had been threatened by J.R. and wore similar clothes in that episode and, besides, the ranch sets were poorly lit in the cliffhanger scene. This was the first post-Who Shot J.R. finale and also a ratings booster for the show, which only had the early "Dynasty" as competition by then. In the next episode and season opener, a flashback showed the dead woman´s face: it was Kristin, of course! Only J.R. could be mean on "Dallas" and get away with it...although the scene had been filmed with Sue Ellen and Pam too.

24 de junio de 1984 (en Cataluña): Cliff Barnes encontraba el cadáver de una mujer en la piscina de Southfork, y a J.R. allí arriba, mirando desde el balcón...¿Quién había matado a quién? Anteriormente, claro, J.R. había discutido con tres mujeres (en realidad cuatro, si tenemos en cuenta a su secretaria Louella, a quien había despedido por no hacer bien su trabajo...fuera de la cama): su mujer Sue Ellen, que le había abandonado por Dusty Farlow y había jurado recuperar a su hijo; su cuñada Pam, que le había llevado el niño sin su permiso; y finalmente a su otra cuñada Kristin Shepard (Mary Crosby), que había estado chantajeándole con el niño que supuestamente había tenido con él. Las tres mujeres habían sido amenazadas de muerte por él y llevaban trajes parecidos en ese episodio y, además, el decorado del rancho estaba muy mal iluminado en la escena del "cliffhanger". Este fue el primer final de temporada después del disparo contra J.R. y también consiguió enormes cifras de audiencia para la serie, que entonces sólo tenía a una primeriza "Dynastía" como competidora. En el episodio siguiente e inicio de temporada, un flashback revelaba quién era la mujer ahogada: Kristin, por supuesto...Sólo J.R. podía ser malvado en "Dallas" y no ser castigado por ello...aunque la escena también fue rodada con Sue Ellen y con Pam.
