134 - the letter

October 14, 1983: The super-couple formed by Bobby and Pam split again and (as it seemed back then) forever and ever, after Pam´s half-sister Katherine Wentworth faked and read to Bobby a letter signed by Pam in which she said she didn´t want to stay married to him. A classic "Dallas" episode with Duffy and Principal using their very talented chops to nail a simply perfect final scene that left the series´ audiences all over the world weeping for weeks...or even years. Bruce Broughton´s beautiful, Emmy-winning score turned the scene into a climax of TV´s most romantic story...until then. There were great episodes after that (and several of them in the same season) but very few surpassed the dramatic intensity of this episode. It also served to introduced the show´s new "adquisition", so to say: Christopher Atkins (the actor from "The Blue Lagoon") who played the monitor of Sue Ellen´s son and also her new (briefly) lover Peter Richards. The supporting cast of that season also featured Audrey Landers, John Beck, Howard Keel, Morgan Brittany, and soon Priscilla Presley as Jenna Wade #3. Will Presley really appear in the TNT´s "Dallas" as the news seem to confirm?

4 de agosto de 1985 (en Cataluña): La superpareja formada por Bobby y Pam volvía a separarse y (según parecía entonces) definitivamente, después de que la hermanastra de Pam, Katherine Wentworth, falsificara y leyera a Bobby una carta firmada por Pam en la que decía que no quería seguir con él. Un episodio clásico de "Dallas" con Duffy y Principal usando su talento como actores en una escena final simplemente perfecta que dejó al público que seguía la serie en todo el mundo lamentándolo durante semanas...o incluso años. La hermosa banda sonora premiada con el Emmy de Bruce Broughton convirtió la escena en el clímax de la historia más romántica de la TV...hasta entonces. Después de aquel vinieron más episodios de calidad (algunos incluso en esa misma temporada) pero muy pocos superaron la intensidad dramática de ese episodio. Sirvió asimismo para presentar a la nueva "adquisición", por así decirlo, de la serie: Christopher Atkins (el actor de "El lago azul") que interpretó al monitor del hijo de Sue Ellen y también su nuevo (aunque breve) amante Peter Richards. El reparto secundario de aquella temporada también incluía a Audrey Landers, John Beck, Howard Keel, Morgan Brittany, y pronto a Priscilla Presley como la tercera Jenna Wade. ¿Llegará a aparecer la Presley en la nueva "Dallas" como dicen las últimas noticias?
