160 - hush...hush, sweet jessie

May 11, 1984: Pam Ewing found out through her ex-husband Bobby that her stepsister Katherine Wentworth had been responsible for their final divorce. She had made Pam sign a (fake) letter to her lawyer telling him she was going to reconcile with Bobby although she didn´t want to. This probably was the biggest scheme ever perpetrated on "Dallas" by a villain that wasn´t J.R. In our exclusive interview with Morgan Brittany, the actress explained us that the scene in question was her favorite from the show. Although her stunt-man husband had trained her to "take" the slap from Pam, Victoria Principal played it so realistically that she "almost" hit Morgan´s face, and the latter fell over the bed. That shocked expression in her face was NOT on the script: it was the actress´s reaction and yes, it was done in only one take. This episode, the penultimate of Season 6, is full of little gems of scenes like this one, e.g. J.R. snooping in Jessica´s diary to find out that she had killed her sister-in-law, Clayton´s first wife; also, Cliff´s reading of the posthumous suicide letter of Mark to Pam and Afton; Pam and Bobby´s revealing talk about the infamous letter, and last, but not least, Donna´s anxious retelling of Jessica´s last crazy deed: after hitting Donna, she had kidnapped Miss Ellie and was driving towards the Southern Cross...and the great Who Shot Bobby cliffhanger.

2 de febrero de 1986 (en Cataluña): Pam Ewing averiguaba, a través de su ex marido Bobby, que su hermanastra Katherine Wentworth era la responsable de su divorcio definitivo. Ella había conseguido que Pam firmase (junto con otros papeles) una carta a su abogado diciéndole que iba a reconciliarse con Bobby, aunque en realidad no lo deseaba. Esta fue, seguramente, la argucia más ladina jamás perpetrada en "Dallas" por un malvado, aparte de J.R., claro. En la entrevista que nos concedió Morgan Brittany en exclusiva, explicaba que la escena en cuestión es su favorita de la serie. Aunque su marido especialista de acción la había enseñado a "encajar" la bofetada que le iba a dar Pam, Victoria Principal interpretó la escena de forma tan realista que "casi" golpeó" a Morgan, quien cayó sobre la cama. Esa expresión de sorpresa que vemos en su cara NO estaba en el guión: fue la reacción de la actriz y sí, la hicieron en una sola toma. Este episodio, el penúltimo de la 6ª temporada, está repleto de joyas como esta escena, o cuando J.R. cotilleaba en el diario de Jessica y se enteraba de que mató a su cuñada y 1ª esposa de Clayton; además, Cliff leía a Pam y Afton la carta suicida póstuma de Mark; Pam y Bobby mantenían una reveladora conversación sobre la infame carta, y por último, aunque no menos interesante, Donna relataba con nerviosismo la última locura de Jessica: después de golpear a Donna, secuestró a Ellie y ambas se dirigían hacia el rancho Southern Cross...y hacia el gran final del disparo contra Bobby.
