102 - acceptance

April 2, 1982: Miss Ellie finally accepted the death of her husband Jock Ewing. Prior to that, she had broken a lot of dishes in her kitchen, much to her maid Teresa´s dismay. This was one of the best scenes of the fourth season of "Dallas", which Barbara Bel Geddes took over along with Larry Hagman after Jim Davis´ passing. Her character was carefully rewritten so it could become the moral compass of the show and the main strenght of the family. In the meantime, the other cast members weren´t so lucky as her, and Linda Gray and Victoria Principal got her worst storylines ever (even worse than Lucy´s!): Sue Ellen accepted J.R.´s marriage proposal thinking he had changed (!?) and Pam, well, Pam was too busy changing her new baby´s diapers and supposedly running her aerobics gym. Also in this episode, we could see other great scenes with Bel Geddes, remembering her husband while she caressed his horse, being reunited with Jock´s best friend Punk and eventually reconciling with her friend and daughter-in-law Donna, after a big fight about a dark secret in Jock´s past.

23 de diciembre de 1984 (en Cataluña): Ellie aceptaba por fin la muerte de su marido Jock Ewing. Anteriormente, había destrozado un montón de platos en su cocina, para consternación de su criada Teresa. Esta fue una de las mejores escenas de la 4ª temporada de "Dallas", dominada por Barbara Bel Geddes junto con Larry Hagman, tras el fallecimiento de Jim Davis. Su personaje fue reescrito con habilidad para que se convirtiera en el soporte moral de la familia en la serie. Mientras, los demás miembros del reparto no tuvieron tanta suerte, y Linda Gray y Victoria Principal vieron a sus personajes hundirse en sus peores tramas hasta entonces (incluso peores que la de Lucy...): Sue Ellen aceptaba la propuesta de matrimonio de J.R. creyendo que había cambiado (!?) y Pam, bueno, Pam estaba muy ocupada cambiando los pañales de su bebé y, presuntamente, dirigiendo su gimnasio. También en este episodio pudimos ver otras estupendas escenas de Bel Geddes, recordando a su marido mientras acariciaba al caballo de éste, recibiendo al mejor amigo de Jock, Punk, y finalmente, reconciliándose con su amiga y nuera Donna, después de haberse peleado con ella por un oscuro secreto del pasado de Jock.
