(A partir de esta temporada, figura en la cabecera SUSAN HOWARD como DONNA, en el espacio que ocupara JIM DAVIS. El único actor invitado que permanece a lo largo de los 26 episodios es LEIGH McCLOSKEY como MITCH y, en los 10 primeros, JARED MARTIN en el papel de STEVEN DUSTY FARLOW.

1/78: "MISSING HEIR" ("HEREDERO DESAPARECIDO")

KRISTIN ha sido encontrada muerta por CLIFF en la piscina de SOUTHFORK. El y J.R. se acusan mutuamente de haberla asesinado. SUE ELLEN se ha instalado con su hijo en el rancho de los FARLOW, SOUTHERN CROSS. BOBBY descubre que PAM llevó a JOHN ROSS con SUE ELLEN, sin darle explicaciones a nadie. Finalmente, el sheriff debe llevar a J.R. a la comisaría, para interrogarle sobre la muerte de KRISTIN: él explica que estaba a punto de salir a buscar a PAM a ABILENE, donde estaba con JOHN ROSS, cuando vio a CLIFF ahogando a KRISTIN en la piscina. Sin embargo, ignora cómo se rompió la baranda del balcón. A la mañana siguiente, los dos hombres son puestos en libertad y CLIFF acude a casa de su madre. McSWEEN informa luego a J.R. que JOHN ROSS fue recogido en el motel de ABILENE por alguien que subió a un coche a nombre de STEVEN FARLOW, y fue llevado al Rancho SOUTHERN CROSS, en SAN ANGELO.

Al mismo tiempo, BOBBY va a buscar a PAM al motel y ella le cuenta que se llevó a JOHN ROSS del rancho porque debía estar con su madre. DONNA regresa de WASHINGTON y RAY la tranquiliza sobre la transferencia realizada de su cuenta común para poder invertir en el negocio de Lubbock. Más tarde, BOBBY y DONNA salen a cabalgar, y él le confiesa que teme que PAM esté obsesionada con la idea de tener un hijo. DONNA insinúa que quizá le convendría recibir ayuda profesional. Asimismo, le expresa a BOBBY su preocupación por la nueva faceta de RAY como hombre de negocios. Finalmente, J.R. llega a SOUTHERN CROSS con el sheriff de SAN ANGELO y reclama que le devuelvan a su hijo.CLAYTON FARLOW les recibe, y detrás aparecen DUSTY y SUE ELLEN, que revela: “Esta vez el niño se queda conmigo, J.R. Ya he solicitado el divorcio.”

En privado, J.R. comunica a SUE ELLEN la muerte de KRISTIN, y ella sospecha inmediatamente de su marido. Además, J.R. intenta convencerla para que vuelva con él, ya que el hijo de KRISTIN podría ser no existir. Pero ella se reafirma en su postura y le revela que está enamorada de DUSTY. En DALLAS, MITCH visita a su hermana en el club donde ella actúa y AFTON le aconseja que, para reconciliarse con LUCY, encuentre una forma rápida de ganar dinero y olvide sus ideales. Una vez en el rancho, BOBBY y DONNA son testigos de una pelea entre J.R. y PAM:

"Supongo que lo que hiciste era de esperar de la hija ilegítima de un capataz de rancho y de la hijastra del borracho del pueblo.” – ataca J.R. En la EWING OIL, se entrevista con el abogado divorcista que le representará, HOWARD BARKER. A su vez, BOBBY se cita con CLIFF y discuten por el asunto de la Audiencia del Senado. CLIFF cree que la información confidencial se la proporcionó BOBBY a su hermano, pero él le responde que, debido a su escasa ética y a su obsesión con la venganza, nunca más podrá trabajar en política. SUE ELLEN insiste ante DUSTY en casarse con él y vivir en su rancho. LUCY regresa a SOUTHFORK, después de su separación de MITCH, con la sensación de haber hundido su matrimonio. Durante una entrevista de J.R. con su abogado, llega el sheriff WASHBURN y les da una mala noticia: el ayudante del fiscal del distrito ha declarado que, al haber disparado KRISTIN contra él, J.R. tenía el mejor motivo para matarla...

KRISTIN has been found dead by CLIFF in the SOUTHFORK pool. He and J.R. accuse each other of her murder. BOBBY learns that PAM drove JOHN ROSS to SUE ELLEN, without giving explanations to anyone. LUCY returns home feeling she has sunk her marriage. Finally, the sheriff must take J.R. to the station, in order to question him about KRISTIN's death: he tells that he was about to leave to ABILENE in search of PAM and JOHN ROSS, when he saw CLIFF drowning KRISTIN in the pool. However, she ignores how the balcony railing was broken. The next morning, both men are released and CLIFF goes to his mother´s. Then McSWEEN reports J.R. about JOHN ROSS, who was picked up at a motel in ABILENE by someone who got on a car registered to STEVEN FARLOW, and he was driven to the SOUTHERN CROSS Ranch, in SAN ANGELO.

At the same time, BOBBY goes for PAM at the motel and she tells him that she took JOHN ROSS away from the ranch because he ought to be with his mother. DONNA returns from WASHINGTON and RAY calms her down about the money transfer he has made for investing in the Lubbock business. Later on, BOBBY and DONNA go out for a ride and he reveals his fears of PAM being obsessed with the idea of having a baby. DONNA hints she should get professional help. She also tells BOBBY her worries about RAY´s new facet as a businessman. Finally, J.R. arrives at SOUTHERN CROSS with the sheriff of SAN ANGELO claims he wants his son back. CLAYTON FARLOW meets them, and after him, come DUSTY and SUE ELLEN, who says: "This time the child stays with me J.R. I´ve filed you for a divorce." In private, J.R. reports SUE ELLEN about KRISTIN´s death, and she immediately suspects her husband. J.R. also tries to persuade her to get back with him, since KRISTIN's baby might not even exist. But she stays firm and says she loves DUSTY. Back to DALLAS, MITCH calls on his sister at the club where she acts and AFTON advises him that, if he wants to make up with LUCY, he would better find a quick way of making money and forget his ideals. Once at the ranch, BOBBY and DONNA witness a fight between J.R. and PAM:

"...I suppose that's to be expected from the illegitimate child of a ranch foreman and the stepdaughter of the town drunk." - he attacks. At EWING OIL, he meets the divorce lawyer who will take his case, HOWARD BARKER. BOBBY makes an appointment with CLIFF and they argue about the Senate Hearing matter. CLIFF thinks that BOBBY provided his brother the confidential information, but he answers that, due to his unethical methods and his obsession with vengeance, he will never be able to work on politics again. SUE ELLEN insists on her wanting to marry DUSTY and live with him at his ranch. LUCY comes back to SOUTHFORK, after making apart from MITCH, and she feels she has ruined her marriage. While J.R. is speaking with his lawyer, sheriff WASHBURN comes and gives them the bad news: the assistant district attorney has stated that, as KRISTIN shot him, J.R. had the best motive for wanting Kristin dead...

J.R. y CLIFF se enfrentan a causa de la investigación que se lleva a cabo sobre la muerte de KRISTIN. El veredicto del juez es sorprendente: como consecuencia de las drogas que había tomado, la joven se lanzó a la piscina rompiendo la baranda...quedando inconsciente, por lo que murió después ahogada. J.R. tiene otros problemas más urgentes, como conseguir la custodia de su hijo. El viaje de SUE ELLEN para asistir al funeral de su hermana es la oportunidad perfecta para que J.R. intente recuperar a su hijo...

J.R. and CLIFF must confront each other at the inquest about KRISTIN´s death. The judge´s verdict is shocking: as a consequence of her drug-using, the young woman walked through the railing and straight off the balcony...knocking herself out, so she immediately got drown. J.R. has more urgent problems, like getting his son´s custody. SUE ELLEN´s flight to attend her sister´s funeral is the perfect opportunity for J.R. to try to get back his son...

BOBBY y PAM deciden iniciar los trámites para la adopción de un niño. REBECCA pone a CLIFF al frente de la 1ª empresa de su marido, la Wentworth Tool And Dye, para evitar una nueva separación...Mientras, MITCH celebra su graduación como médico con su hermana AFTON, en tanto que RAY se convierte en experto hombre de negocios, lo que no deja de inquietar a su esposa DONNA. J.R. hace todo lo posible para poder llevarse a su hijo de SOUTHERN CROSS, aunque tenga que engañar a su madre. Le pide que le deje acompañarla a SAN ANGELO para utilizarla y quedarse con el niño.

BOBBY and PAM decide to start the legalities to adopt a baby. REBECCA puts CLIFF in charge of her husband´s first company, Wentworth Tool And Dye, so she can stop him from quitting DALLAS...While MITCH celebrates his graduation as a doctor with his sister AFTON, RAY is becoming an expert businessman, thus upsetting his wife DONNA. J.R. tries his best to take his son away from SOUTHERN CROSS, even if he has to cheat his mother. He talks her into letting her accompany her to SAN ANGELO so he will use her to take the child away.

4/81: "LITTLE BOY LOST" ("EL NIÑO PERDIDO")

J.R. intenta desacreditar a SUE ELLEN para que no obtenga la custodia temporal de JOHN ROSS. Mientras, BOBBY hace todo lo posible para adoptar un niño, ya que el equilibrio de PAM es cada día más frágil y necesita ayuda médica. REBECCA recibe la visita de su hija KATHERINE, que viene de NUEVA YORK para conocer a sus nuevos hermanastros. En el juicio por la custodia, J.R. se cree ganador hasta que el abogado de su mujer demuestra que SUE ELLEN ha decidido compartir su vida con DUSTY por amor, no por motivos carnales, ya que nunca podrá tener relaciones sexuales ni hijos con él...

J.R. tries to discredit SUE ELLEN and stop her from getting JOHN ROSS´s temporary custody. Meanwhile, BOBBY is doing his best to adopt a child, since PAM´s mental balance is more and more fragile and she needs medical help. REBECCA welcomes her daughter KATHERINE, visiting from NEW YORK, who wants to meet her new family. At the hearing for custody, J.R. believes himself the winner until her wife´s lawyer proves that SUE ELLEN has decided to share her life with DUSTY out of love, not for carnal reasons, since she will never have sex or children with him...

J.R. utiliza todo su poder para conseguir que los FARLOW dejen de proteger a SUE ELLEN y JOHN ROSS. Como consecuencia de esto, piensa que las relaciones entre su esposa y DUSTY se resentirán. BOBBY, por otro lado, tiene sus propios problemas: PAM se encuentra hundida emocionalmente, e intenta suicidarse tirándose desde la azotea de un edificio de DALLAS. Además, recibe una fotografía de KRISTIN junto a su hijo recién nacido. MITCH acepta un empleo en una clínica de cirugía plástica, como una forma de que LUCY vuelva con él. Temiendo que PAM vuelva a atentar contra su vida, BOBBY toma una importante decisión: internarla voluntariamente en el hospital psiquiátrico BROOKTREE...

J.R. is using all his power to force the FARLOWS stop protecting SUE ELLEN and JOHN ROSS. Subsequently, he thinks that the relationship between his wife and DUSTY will resent. BOBBY, on the other side, has problems of his own: PAM is emotionally disturbed and tries to kill herself jumping off a roof of a building in DALLAS. Besides, he receives a photograph of KRISTIN holding her newborn baby. MITCH takes a job at a plastic surgery clinic as a way of getting back LUCY. Afraid of PAM attempting suicide again, BOBBY makes an important decision: he agrees with her to check her into the BROOKTREE mental hospital...

Los FARLOW protegen de forma decidida a SUE ELLEN y a su hijo, por lo que J.R. intenta vengarse de ellos: consigue que un grupo de banqueros, entre los que se halla VAUGHN LELAND, conceda un préstamo a la E.OIL para cortar el suministro de petróleo a las Refinerías Farlow. BOBBY obtiene información sobre el hijo de KRISTIN a través de su último amante, un tal JEFF FARRADAY. PAM conoce a su hermanastra en el hospital donde la trata la Dra. CONRAD. PUNK ANDERSON se ve obligado a abandonar el negocio que iba a compartir con RAY. VAUGHN conspira a espaldas de J.R. para llevar a cabo su propia venganza, a través de una humillada AFTON, que le pone en contacto con CLIFF...

The FARLOWS are determined to protect SUE ELLEN and her son, which leads J.R. to try to get even on them: he makes a banking group, with VAUGHN LELAND in it, give a loan to EWING OIL to cut off the oil supply to the FARLOW Refineries. BOBBY obtains information about KRISTIN´s baby through her last lover, a JEFF FARRADAY. PAM gets to know her stepsister at the hospital where Dr. CONRAD is treating her. PUNK ANDERSON must quit the business he was going to share with RAY. VAUGHN conspires at J.R.'s back so he can get his own revenge, using a humiliated AFTON, who contacts him with CLIFF...

J.R. se desespera cuando ve que todos sus esfuerzos para conseguir que SUE ELLEN se marche de S.CROSS no tienen ningún efecto. Por el contrario, SUE ELLEN se enfrenta a su esposo, confirmando sus sospechas de que él es el responsable del bloqueo de petróleo de los FARLOW. Mientras PAM se debate en su depresión, BOBBY continúa indagando sobre la identidad del hijo de KRISTIN. A pesar de que creía tener pruebas concluyentes, averigua que JORDAN LEE no es el responsable. LUCY está contenta de que MITCH vaya a trabajar en DALLAS. El chantaje de J.R. a CLAYTON no da resultado, por lo que la situación económica de la E. OIL empeora día a día...

"Hombres mejores que usted han intentado arruinarme" - le dice CLAYTON - "Cuando su padre vuelva de SUDAMÉRICA, es posible no exista la EWING OIL..."

J.R. is desperate to see that his efforts to make SUE ELLEN leave S. CROSS are unsuccessful. On the contrary, SUE ELLEN faces her still husband and confirms her suspicions about his responsibility for the FARLOWS´ oil blocking. As PAM struggles to overcome her depression, BOBBY keeps searching for the true identity of KRISTIN´s baby. Although he seemed to have conclusive proofs, he finds out that JORDAN LEE was not the baby´s father. LUCY is happy to know that MITCH is going to work in DALLAS. J.R.´s blackmail to CLAYTON does not work out, so E. OIL is being jeopardized...

"Better men have tried to break me" - says CLAYTON - "When your daddy gets back from SOUTH AMERICA, there might not be a EWING OIL..."

8/85: "THE SPLIT" ("LA SEPARACIÓN")

Por medio de una carta que envía a su familia desde SUDAMÉRICA, JOCK altera notablemente las relaciones familiares y el futuro de la E. OIL. Reparte la compañía entre J.R., BOBBY, ELLIE, GARY, RAY y JOHN ROSS. Comoquiera que J.R. es el más afectado, verá peligrar aún más su situación económica, que ya era bastante difícil. BOBBY renuncia a su reelección para el Senado y PAM va recuperando progresivamente su estabilidad emocional. CLIFF se alía con VAUGHN en su lucha para derrotar a J.R. Este a su vez se entrevista con DUSTY en el Estadio de los DALLAS COWBOYS y entabla una lucha dialéctica con él:

"Su padre es el único hombre que hay en SOUTHERN CROSS...", se burla J.R.

Through a letter he sends to his family from SOUTH AMERICA, JOCK remarkably alters the family relations and the future of EWING OIL. He splits the company between J.R., BOBBY, ELLIE, GARY, RAY and JOHN ROSS. Since J.R. is the most affected one, he will see his difficult financial situation get even worse. BOBBY resigns to his re-election for the Senate and PAM is recovering her emotional stability progressively. CLIFF allies with VAUGHN in his fight to defeat J.R. The latter meets DUSTY at the DALLAS COWBOYS Stadium and starts a verbal fight with him:

"Your father is the only real man in SOUTHERN CROSS...", J.R. tells him cruelly.

J.R. conspira para conseguir el máximo número de acciones y reafirmar su poder dentro de la compañía. Sin embargo, se topará con la oposición de GARY y RAY. Este último ha de enfrentarse, además, con un serio contratiempo en sus negocios. Mientras, BOBBY acuerda con FARRADAY pagarle 25.000 dólares por el hijo de KRISTIN. La Dra. CONRAD permite que PAM pase unos días en SOUTHFORK. Además, DUSTY vuelve a hacer su vida de cowboy a pesar de las protestas de SUE ELLEN...CLIFF obliga a J.R. a firmar una prórroga del préstamo solicitado para bloquear las Refinerías FARLOW. Aprovecha la ocasión para exigirle la escritura del pozo que enemistó a JOCK y DIGGER, el EWING 6.

"Eres hombre muerto, J.R., y yo llevaré tu ataúd", asegura CLIFF...

J.R. schemes to get the maximum number of shares and increase his power within the company. However, he will meet GARY´s and RAY´s opposition. RAY must also face a serious business trouble. Meanwhile, BOBBY agrees with FARRADAY to pay him 25.000 dollars for KRISTIN´s baby. Dr. CONRAD allows PAM to spend a few days at SOUTHFORK. DUSTY is back to his former cowboy life in spite of SUE ELLEN´s complaints...CLIFF obliges J.R. to sign an extension of the loan he asked for blocking the FARLOW Refineries. He also takes advantage of that to demand him the deed of the field that ended JOCK´s and DIGGER´s friendship, EWING 6.

"You´re a dead man, J.R., and I´m the head pallbearer", says CLIFF...

10/87: "STARTING OVER" ("VOLVER A EMPEZAR")

ELLIE se da cuenta de que su hijo mayor es un irresponsable que, obsesionado en hundir a los FARLOW, ha llevado a la EWING OIL a una situación de bancarrota. BOBBY se lleva una gran sorpresa cuando descubre que J.R. es el verdadero padre del hijo de KRISTIN. PAM hace caso omiso de los consejos de la doctora y decide abandonar definitivamente el sanatorio, segura de que sólo necesita un hijo. SUE ELLEN se ve obligada a marcharse de S. Tras enterarse de la venganza llevada a cabo contra CLAYTON, acude a su rancho para intentar arreglar la situación. Además, se reúne con CLIFF y el Cártel: "¿Durante cuánto tiempo vas a continuar con esta estúpida enemistad BARNES-EWING?" - le pregunta ELLIE a CLIFF. "¿Hasta que todos hayamos muerto? ¿Te vale la pena?" "No espere que me disculpe porque J.R. se haya metido en algo de lo que no ha podido salir" "No espero nada de ti, CLIFF. Y no me disculpo por lo que hizo mi hijo. Es una cuestión de familia. Podemos equivocarnos o tener razón, pero somos EWING, y nos mantenemos unidos. She also meets CLIFF and the Cartel: "How long are you going to perpetuate this stupid BARNES–EWING feud?" - she asks CLIFF. "Until we're all dead and gone? Is it worth to you?" "Don't expect me to apologize because J.R. got in over his head." "I don't expect anything from you, CLIFF. And I don't apologize for what my son did. It's a family matter. We may be wrong, we may be right, but we're Ewings, and we stick together. That's what makes us unbeatable!" J.R. schemes a plan to get back his son´s legal custody, now that SUE ELLEN is not under the FARLOWS´ protection anymore:

BOBBY is beginning to realize the problems he and PAM will have to overcome in order to adopt KRISTIN´s baby, CHRISTOPHER...DONNA gets angry to know that RAY has not trusted her. DONNA looks uncomfortable with RAY getting drunk. KATHERINE comes back from N.Y. and begins to feel attracted to BOBBY. But a mysterious phone call will change ELLIE´s expression: JOCK has disappeared in an air crash...

La muerte de JOCK ha tenido un efecto devastador sobre J.R., que se encuentra sumido en un estado de indiferencia ante la vida. CLIFF se siente victorioso tras su victoria sobre J.R. y pretende reanudar sus relaciones con SUE ELLEN...quien, por su parte, tiene problemas para reemprender la vida de soltera. JOCK´s death has had a devastating effect on J.R., who feels indifferent about life. He is unable to face the smallest problem, so BOBBY must take over the company. CLIFF thinks he has won J.R. and intends to resume his affair with SUE ELLEN...who has problems of her own to continue her life as a single woman...In the meantime, the rest of the family is surprised to see ELLIE´s apparent calm...though BOBBY realizes she actually denies reality:

J.R.´s efforts work out when he knows that RAY has been at a motel with a girlfriend, and tries to convince DONNA to leave the ranch. CLAYTON´s concern about SUE ELLEN increases every day since he fears that J.R. will hurt his ex-wife again. SUE ELLEN is very surprised when J.R. congratulates her on the anniversary of their first meeting and gives her a tape of the Miss Texas contest that she won. They celebrate it spending the night together...

LUCY trata de razonar con ROGER, que pretende continuar con su relación. CLIFF acaba por descubrir las intenciones de J.R. y le hace una promesa: no sólo no volverá a caer en sus trampas, sino que piensa casarse con SUE ELLEN...

J.R. keeps overcaring SUE ELLEN all the time, and she decides to accept his invitation for dinner at SOUTHFORK. At the same time, J.R. is pressing RAY, who has more and more problems with DONNA. Taking advantage of this situation, J.R. will make him give up on his EWING OIL share. BOBBY and PAM are very happy with the baby they have adopted. LUCY is trying to reason with ROGER, but he intends to continue their affair. CLIFF eventually discovers J.R.´s intentions and makes him a promise: he will not only avoid his tricks, but he will also marry SUE ELLEN...

The EWING family is holding a party to celebrate the adoption of BOBBY´s and PAM´s child. However, a suspicious J.R. decides to find out whatever happened to KRISTIN´s son. He also learns that SUE ELLEN keeps dating CLIFF, so he plans to destroy him once and for all:

"There will be no more CLIFF BARNES in DALLAS. You will cease to exist, and that´s a promise." CLAYTON warns SUE ELLEN about it and adviSes her not to flirt with CLIFF. LUCY ends up turning to ROGER´s obsessive love...BOBBY begins to worry about his and PAM´s future happiness when JEFF FARRADAY returns and demands him more money...

Thanks to a remark from KATHERINE, J.R. adopts a new strategy with CLIFF. With MARILEE STONE´s help, he sets up a plot to destroy him. In high spirits for his last victory over J.R., CLIFF asks REBECCA for a bigger autonomy at WENTWORTH. SUE ELLEN´s and CLIFF´s relationship affects AFTON, J.R., and CLAYTON differently. PAM has a serious talk with ROGER and warns him to keep away from LUCY. While searching for her new book about SAM CULVER, DONNA casually discovers some unknown facts about JOCK and asks a recovered RAY for help...

BOBBY está siendo víctima de chantaje por parte de J.R. y RAY propone a DONNA que, antes de publicar el libro, hable con ELLIE sobre la información de los orígenes de la fortuna EWING...

MARILEE will be the one to perform J.R.´s trap for CLIFF. Thinking he has a big deal in hands, CLIFF takes 4 million dollars from his mother´s company and invest them on worthless land. But J.R.´s plans go further since he wants to ruin his affair with SUE ELLEN too. LUCY leaves SOUTHFORK hoping to reconcile with MITCH, but he asks her for a divorce instead...To make things worse, she is kidnapped by ROGER...BOBBY is being blackmailed by FARRADAY. RAY suggests DONNA talk with MISS ELLIE before to publish her book, so they can confirm the information she found about the beginning of the EWING fortune.

“Me encanta que queráis adoptar a mi hijo. Sé que tú y PAM le queréis, y él ha cambiado su vida. Y a mí no me importa que me llame tío J.R.” ELLIE Y DONNA se enfrentan seriamente a causa del descubrimiento sobre JOCK Y SAM CULVER que demuestra que, para perforar sus primeros pozos, el patriarca y su socio internaron a un pariente de CULVER en un asilo. Antes de que pudieran sacarlo, el viejo se suicidó...

BOBBY´s fears seem to vanish when blackmailer FARRADAY is murdered. However, a more dangerous blackmailer takes his place: J.R. Checking out a copy of CHRISTOPHER's adoption papers, J.R. realizes that he probably is the baby´s real father. Therefore he can make BOBBY do whatever he wants to, under the threat of telling PAM the whole truth:

"I´m delighted that you´re adopting my son. I know that you and PAM love the boy, and he turned her life around. I don´t mind his calling me Uncle J.R." ELLIE and DONNA have a serious argument because of her discovery about JOCK and SAM CULVER: it proves that, in order to drill their first fields, the patriarch and his partner committed a kin of CULVER´s into an asylum. Before they could take him out, the old man killed himself...

LUCY acuerda con MITCH obtener el divorcio y de esta manera da por terminado su matrimonio...CLIFF se percata de que su situación le está llevando a la ruina total e intenta que SUE ELLEN le preste dinero. Pero ella se siente utilizada y rompe sus relaciones con él, tal como esperaba J.R.

“Eres una EWING – le dice él – y debes estar con gente en quien puedas confiar. Debes regresar a SOUTHFORK, conmigo...”

BOBBY must face big trouble when he is questioned by the police about his connection to late FARRADAY. LUCY is set free when PAM and BOBBY find her gagged and tied at ROGER´s studio. DONNA does not know what to do to reconcile with ELLIE, who seems to have her late husband on a pedestal. LUCY agrees with MITCH to get divorced and thus putting an end to her marriage...CLIFF realizes his situation is leading him to total bankrupt and tries to get a loan from SUE ELLEN. But she feels used and breaks up with him, as J.R. expected.

"You are a Ewing - he tells her - and you belong with people that you can trust. You must come back to Southfork - and me..."

Por su parte, CLIFF se siente desesperado porque su madre le ha pedido que dimita del cargo que desempeñaba en la WENTWORTH, por el mal uso que ha hecho del capital de la empresa. AFTON quiere animarle y convencerle de que juntos podrán enfrentarse a J.R. BOBBY se siente intimidado por su hermano y por la policía que investiga el caso de FARRADAY, asesinado por unos narcotraficantes. RAY intenta, por todos los medios, salvar la situación de tirantez entre DONNA Y ELLIE. Finalmente, esta acabará aceptando la muerte de JOCK, durante una cena familiar y, a solas en la cocina, ELLIE sufre un ataque de cólera y empieza a romper todo lo que ve...Después, en casa de RAY, ELLIE les hace una confidencia:

"Sé que JOCK no volverá, pero conservo mis recuerdos de él, y siempre los tendré..."

J.R. is in top form: CLIFF is broke; CLAYTON does not know what he really feels about SUE ELLEN; she ends up accepting his attentions and BOBBY is being hounded by the police. On the other hand, CLIFF is desperate because of his mother´s request to resign from his charge at WENTWORTH, for his misusing the company´s capital. AFTON wants to convince him that they can face J.R. together. BOBBY feels intimidated by his brother and the policemen working on FARRADAY´s case, though he was murdered by drug dealers. RAY tries his best to soften the tight situation between DONNA and ELLIE. Finally, ELLIE will accept JOCK´s death during a family dinner, and, alone in the kitchen, she goes on a rampage and breaks everything she sees...Afterward, she goes at RAY´s and she confides the couple:

"I know that JOCK's not coming back, but I have my memories of him, and my memories are forever."

BOBBY Y PAM deben viajar a L.A. para averiguar la verdad sobre el padre de CHRISTOPHER. J.R. da por terminada su relación con MARILEE alegando que quiere llevar "una vida estrictamente monógama", lo que provoca la ira de la mujer. Cuando BOBBY le explica a PAM la verdad sobre FARRADAY, ella se muestra ofendida:

"Me engañaste. Le traías el niño a J.R., no a mí. Pero CHRISTOPHER nos pertenece, somos sus padres, no J.R. Quería utilizar a su propio hijo para conseguir tus acciones de la E.OIL. Lucharía con él hasta la muerte antes que devolverle al niño..." MARILEE se siente culpable y cuenta a CLIFF que J.R. le utilizó en su contra...CLIFF rechaza la ayuda de MARILEE y de AFTON...BOBBY Y PAM descubren en L.A. que KRISTIN perdió el hijo de J.R. poco después de irse de DALLAS. Sin embargo, luego volvió a quedarse embarazada de JEFF, y dio a luz prematuramente. En SOUTHFORK, LUCY confiesa a MURIEL que ROGER la violó cuando intentaba escaparse...SUE ELLEN acude a una cita con CLAYTON y le comunica que ha aceptado la propuesta de matrimonio de J.R. Lo que ignora la mujer es que CLAYTON había decidido pedirle que se casara con él e incluso pensaba regalarle un anillo de compromiso...

"No te equivoques, SUE ELLEN. Podría haber alguien que se preocupase por ti mucho más que él..." AFTON observa con impotencia cómo CLIFF se va hundiendo cada día más, sin que ella pueda hacer nada para evitarlo. CLIFF acude a casa de SUE ELLEN y le suplica que le ayude:

"Te necesito, sé que puedo volver a empezar si crees en mí y me quieres..." Cuando ella le cuenta que se volverá a casar con J.R., CLIFF se marcha abatido...En L.A., BOBBY Y PAM averiguan que KRISTIN llegó a casarse con JEFF y este continuó el chantaje al que sometía a J.R Y JORDAN cuando la joven murió...Al ser la sangre de JEFF del mismo grupo que la de J.R., pudieron proseguir el chantaje con impunidad. Un furioso BOBBY asegura a su mujer:

"Mi propio hermano ha intentado chantajearme. Cuando volvamos a DALLAS, haré todo lo que pueda para sacarle de la E. OIL y no pararé hasta hundirle..." En DALLAS, AFTON encuentra el cuerpo inconsciente de CLIFF, junto a una botella vacía y un tubo vacío de tranquilizantes...CLIFF es trasladado urgentemente al hospital, donde acuden AFTON Y REBECCA, que se siente muy culpable. El doctor les informa de que CLIFF ha entrado en coma a causa de la mezcla de alcohol y pastillas. Si consigue salir de la UVI, las 24 horas siguientes serán críticas...REBECCA acude a SOUTHFORK y comunica la noticia de CLIFF a los EWING, culpando de todo a J.R y SUE ELLEN:

"La enemistad entre nuestras familias aún continúa. Juro que destruiré a los EWING y tengo el capital necesario..." Cuando REBECCA se marcha, ELLIE intuye que dice la verdad:

"Dejarás la presidencia de la EWING OIL en cuanto regrese BOBBY." "Tú no lo sabes aún, pero eso no será posible, madre..." En el hospital, SUE ELLEN visita a CLIFF, todavía en coma, seguida por J.R.

"Mira qué le hemos hecho...Yo soy la unica culpable. Si CLIFF muriese, sería totalmente incapaz de casarme contigo..." Las palabras de SUE ELLEN producen el efecto de una bomba sobre J.R., que teme que, con su muerte, CLIFF obtenga su victoria final, alejándole para siempre de SUE ELLEN, de la familia y de lo que más anhela: el control absoluto de la EWING OIL...

BOBBY and PAM have to fly to L.A. so they can know the truth about CHRISTOPHER´s father. J.R. puts an end to his affair with MARILEE allegedly to have "a strictly monogamous life", which irates the woman. When BOBBY explains PAM the truth about FARRADAY, she feels hurt:

"You lied me a lot. You brought the baby home for J.R., not me. But CHRISTOPHER belongs to us, we are his parents, not J.R. He wanted to use his own child to get your E. OIL shares. I´d fight him to death rather than give him the baby back..." MARILEE is feeling guilty and tells CLIFF that J.R. used her against him...CLIFF rejects MARILEE´s and AFTON´s help...At L.A., BOBBY and PAM find out that KRISTIN miscarried J.R.´s baby shortly after leaving DALLAS. However, she got pregnant again with JEFF´s baby and gave him birth prematurely. At SOUTHFORK, LUCY confides MURIEL that ROGER raped her when she tried to escape...SUE ELLEN meets CLAYTON to tell him she has accepted J.R.'s marriage proposal. But she ignores that CLAYTON had decided to ask her to marry him and even was going to give her an engagement ring...

"Don´t make a mistake, SUE ELLEN. There might be someone who cared about you much more than him..." AFTON watches CLIFF sinking more and more, while she cannot do anything to stop it. CLIFF goes to SUE ELLEN´s and begs her to help him:

"I need you, I know that I can start over if you believe in me and love me..." When she tells him about her marriage plans to J.R., CLIFF leaves depressed...Meanwhile, at L.A. BOBBY and PAM learn that KRISTIN wed JEFF and he kept blackmailing J.R and JORDAN when she died...As JEFF´s blood belongs to the same group than J.R.´s, they could continue their blackmail with impunity. An angry BOBBY assures his wife:

"My own brother tried to blackmail me. When we´re back to DALLAS, I´m gonna vote to throw him out of E. OIL but not until I take him apart..." In DALLAS, AFTON finds CLIFF's unconscious body, next to empty bottles of alcohol and tranquilizers...CLIFF is rushed to the hospital, where AFTON and a guilty REBECCA come along. The doctor reports them that CLIFF has entered into a coma due to an overdose of alcohol and pills. If he gets to come out of ICU, next 24 hours will be critical...REBECCA comes at SOUTHFORK and tells the news to the EWINGS, blaming J.R and SUE ELLEN for everything:

"The feud between our families still goes on. I swear I´ll destroy the EWINGS and I have the money to do it..." When REBECCA leaves, ELLIE guesses she has told the truth: "I'm gonna remove you as president of Ewing Oil as soon as Bobby gets back!" "You don't know it yet, but you can't do that, mama." At the hospital, SUE ELLEN visits CLIFF, still in a comma, followed by J.R.

"Look what we have done to him...I am the one to blame. If Cliff dies, I may never be able to marry you, J.R." - SUE ELLEN´s words are like a bombshell to J.R., afraid that, if he dies, CLIFF will get his final victory, keeping him forever apart from SUE ELLEN, family and what he wishes most: absolute control of EWING OIL...
