(Continúa el reparto protagonista de la etapa anterior, con las excepciones de BARBARA BEL GEDDES, CHARLENE TILTON y LESLEY-ANNE DOWN. Se añadirá en la cabecera a BARBARA STOCK (como LIZ) y regresará también KIMBERLY FOSTER (MICHELLE). CATHY PODEWELL sólo intervendrá en 12 episodios en total, y HOWARD KEEL en 4. La frustración de J.R. aumenta cuando ve que no hay forma de escapar del sanatorio mental. La romántica luna de miel de BOBBY y APRIL se interrumpe con la aparición de la enigmática SHEILA FOLEY. CALLY duda sobre el plan al comprobar que JAMES se aprovecha de la situación. De repente, APRIL desaparece:

"Ella está bien" - le dice SHEILA a BOBBY cuando se la encuentra en su suite inesperadamente - "Voy a ocupar su lugar durante un tiempo. Y mientras hagas exactamente lo que te diga, seguirá estando bien. Pero si das un solo paso en falso, morirá..."

J.R.´s frustration increases when he sees that there is no way to escape from the sanitarium. BOBBY´s and APRIL´s romantic honeymoon is interrupted by the appearance of enigmatic SHEILA FOLEY. CALLY doubts about their plan when JAMES takes profit of the situation. Suddenly, APRIL vanishes:

"She's fine" - SHEILA says to BOBBY when he finds her in his suite unexpectedly - "I'm just taking her place for a while. And as long as you do exactly as you're told, she'll stay fine. But one wrong move and she's dead...!"

Una siniestra trama ha sido urdida alrededor del secuestro de APRIL. SHEILA pretende utilizarla para poder infiltrarse en una reunión de la OPEP y hacer una declaración a favor de los petroleros norteamericanos:

"Mi marido era muy especial" - le dice ella. "Tú te pareces a él. Un buen hombre poco usual en un mundo lleno de malos hombres." "Pues tú no te pareces en nada a mi mujer. Es hermosa, cariñosa, amable y generosa. Y si así puedes devolvérmela antes, me aguantaré el asco y te daré lo que quieras." "¡Bastardo"! - le dice SHEILA, abofeteándole. JAMES pierde una partida de póker de gran vuelo; CLIFF y LIZ siguen viéndose, pero a esta le recuerdan que no ha terminado su relación con JOHNNY DANCER. Con ayuda de otros internos, J.R. fuerza una pelea con MORRISEY para que confiese que ha fingido estar loco para eludir la prisión tras cometer un asesinato. Cuando un escéptico BOBBY se reencuentra por azar con el ciclista MARK HARRIS, le pide ayuda...

A sinister plot has been made up around APRIL´s kidnap. SHEILA intends to use her in order to infiltrate into the OPEC meeting and make a statement on behalf of the American Oilmen:

"My husband—he was something special" - she says. "You're very much like him. A rare good man in a world full of bad ones." "You're nothing like my wife. She's beautiful, loving, kind and generous. And if it'll bring her back to me one minute sooner, I'll push past my disgust and give you whatever you want." "You bastard!" JAMES gets taken in a high stakes poker game; CLIFF and LIZ continue dating, but she is warned that she's not through with JOHNNY DANCER yet; with help from the other inmates, J.R. forces a showdown with MORRISEY in order to trick him into confessing that he faked insanity to avoid going to prison for murder. When a skeptic BOBBY randomly re-encounters with cyclist MARK HARRIS, he asks him for help...

J.R. intenta encontrar aliados entre los pacientes del sanatorio y así garantizar su seguridad, al tiempo que sigue viéndose con la ninfómana ANITA. Pero entra en pánico cuando el médico le somete a una terapia especial. CALLY le hace una visita para hacerle una oferta y sacarlo de allí. La aparición de JORDAN LEE en PARÍS causa aún más confusión en BOBBY cuando descubre que está de parte de SHEILA.

J.R. tries to find allies among the patients of the sanitarium so he can guarantee his security, while he keeps sleeping with nymphomaniac ANITA. But he panics when the doctor submits him to a special therapy. Cally visits J.R. at the asylum and makes an offer to release him. The appearance of JORDAN LEE in PARIS causes still more confusion on BOBBY when he discovers he is on SHEILA´s side.

Following the charade game, BOBBY participates in a reception for the oil industry, in the company of SHEILA. JORDAN shows up dead and a BOBBY tries to rescue APRIL unsuccessfully. Finally, the meeting´s day, BOBBY guesses what is SHEILA´s true plot: murder...

Tras la muerte de APRIL, acribillada por la policía junto a sus raptores, su asesina SHEILA desaparece. JAMES intenta convencer a CLIFF para que se una en su venganza contra J.R., que intenta averiguar a dónde ha sido trasladada JESSICA. Tras el funeral de APRIL, BOBBY regresa de PARÍS solo y lleno de remordimientos hacia J.R., que estuvo ilocalizable. Al mismo tiempo, inicia la búsqueda de SHEILA y culpa de lo ocurrido a la industria del petróleo. Pero al final J.R. consigue salir del sanatorio gracias a CALLY y SLY. LIZ se siente perseguida por su misterioso pasado y CLIFF le propone matrimonio.

After APRIL´s death, shot by the police along with her kidnappers, SHEILA disappears. JAMES tries to recruit CLIFF to go after J.R., who's trying to track down JESSICA. BOBBY returns from PARIS alone and full of remorse towards J.R., who couldn't be traced. He also starts the search for SHEILA and blames begins APRIL's death on greed in the oil business. But eventually, J.R. got to be released from the sanitarium thanks to CALLY and SLY. LIZ feels pursued by her mysterious past...

MICHELLE se enfurece con BOBBY por haber enterrado a APRIL en PARÍS y regresar a DALLAS sin su cuerpo. Al mismo tiempo, se obsesiona con vengarse de la asesina de su hermana. Bobby continúa buscando a SHEILA mientras MICHELLE le culpa a él de todo. J.R. infiltra una espía en casa de CARTER. JAMES busca aliados en su plan de revancha contra su padre. CLIFF and DANCER se pelean en público y J.R. recibe la sorprendente visita de VANESSA, que sigue interesada en él después de su ruptura con CALLY. Pero justo antes de marcharse, cuando intenta retenerla usando su embarazo, ella le lanza una bomba:

"Si crees que te dejaré criar a nuestro hijo en aquel pueblo de palurdos, tienes un problema" - le advierte J.R. "No me importa lo que digas, porque tú no eres el padre...¡Es James!"

MICHELLE gets angry with BOBBY for burying APRIL in PARIS and returning to DALLAS without her body. At the same time, she gets obsessed with getting even with her sister's murderer. BOBBY continues his hunt for SHEILA while MICHELLE blames him for everything. J.R. gets a spy in CARTER's house. JAMES seeks allies to help him take down his father. CLIFF and DANCER fight in public, and J.R. receives the surprising visit of VANESSA, still interested in him after his breakup with CALLY. But just before she leaves town, when he tries to make her stay by using her pregnancy, she drops a bomb:

"If you think for one second I'm going to let you raise our child in that little hick town, you've got another thing coming!" - J.R. warns her. "It doesn't matter what you think, 'cause you're not the father! James is!"

J.R. y BOBBY se enfrentan de nuevo cuando este le comunica su intención de vender la EWING OIL, ya que culpa al negocio del petróleo de la muerte de APRIL. VANESSA teme que no pueda tener al mismo tiempo a J.R. y a su hijo JAMES. CLIFF, LIZ y CARTER son sospechosos del asesinato de DANCER. MICHELLE se ofrece a encontrar a SHEILA. J.R. y CLAYTON sostienen una violenta discusión delante de los niños:

"Le acabas de dar a McKAY lo que necesita para destruir la EWING OIL" - le dice furioso J.R. "No tocará la EWING OIL. Tenemos un acuerdo" - le asegura CLAYTON. "Eres tan tonto como alto. Creo que los niños tienen derecho a saber que su abuela se casó con un traidor..." Asimismo, visita a JAMES creyendo que CALLY le dijo la verdad:

"No tienes moral ni escrúpulos...Quizá ya eres digno de mí." BOBBY lanza una amenaza que petrifica a J.R.:

"Acabo de enterrar a mi mujer por culpa del petróleo. Creo que es hora de enterrar también a papá. Cuando vuelva de ODESSA, voy a vender la EWING OIL..."

J.R. and BOBBY confront each other again when the latter tells him his intention of selling out EWING OIL, because he blames the oil business for APRIL´s death. VANESSA fears she can have her lover or her son, but not both. CLIFF, LIZ, and CARTER are suspects in DANCER's murder. MICHELLE offers help in finding SHEILA. J.R and CLAYTON have a violent showdown in front of the boys:

"You just gave him the right away to destroy EWING OIL" - J.R. tells him in a rage. "He's not going to touch EWING OIL. We have an agreement" - CLAYTON assures him. "You are as dumb as you are big. I think that they are entitled to know what kind of a traitor their grandmother married. He also visits JAMES believing CALLY´s lie:

"You got no morals, you got no scruples, You may just be worthy of me yet." BOBBY delivers a threat that cuts J.R. to the bone:

"I just buried my wife because of the oil business. I think it's time I buried Daddy too. When I get back from ODESSA, I am selling EWING OIL!"

BOBBY y MICHELLE descubren que la verdadera SHEILA FOLEY está internada en un sanatorio y pierden la pista de la asesina...

LEE ANN turns out to be an ally of MICHELLE, and also a former college lover of J.R.´s. Even so, J.R. doesn´t recognize her and agrees to work for her and his ex-company. BOBBY and MICHELLE discover that the real SHEILA FOLEY is committed into a sanitarium and lose the murderer´s track...

CLIFF confesses the district attorney that he caused DANCER´s death in self-defense, and not CARTER, who was sentenced to prison. CLIFF and LIZ plan to get married. The news of CALLY´s pregnancy has arisen doubts in J.R., who suspects that JAMES might be the father, and LEE ANN schemes to push J.R. away from VANESSA...

LEE ANN is determined to seduce J.R., so she can finish the vengeance plot for their mutual past story: she was pregnant with J.R.´s baby and then he made her have an abortion, due to which she got sterile. VANESSA prefers to keep the memory of her romance with J.R. than living with suspicions all the time. When she leaves, LEE ANN quits EWING OIL in hands of MICHELLE...

JAMES and MICHELLE feel a mutual attraction although they don´t want to show it. LIZ offers her company to J.R. if CLIFF gets the position of energy consultant of the government. BOBBY thinks that the time to face HILLARY has come, but the drug dealers who hostage JORY avoid him to get the airport on time...

J.R. welcomes DEBRA LYNN and his first grandson JIMMY, though he hesitates if he should report JAMES about it. Meanwhile, CLIFF cancels his wedding off and MICHELLE gets astonished to know that JAMES still is married to DEBRA LYNN and has a son, because this means he is guilty of bigamy...

J.R. is more and more interested in his grandson JIMMY. JAMES must decide if he remains married to DEBRA LYNN or prefers to divorce and re-marry MICHELLE. In the first case, the baby would stay in the family, in the second, the EWINGS would keep their interests in EWING OIL...

Cuando descubre por JAMES que el hijo de CALLY es suyo, J.R. decide ir a buscarla a PALM BEACH. CLAYTON regresa con la decisión de traspasar la propiedad de SOUTHFORK a BOBBY. CLIFF emborracha a MICHELLE y esta despierta casada con él. En FLORIDA, J.R. ve que CALLY lleva una vida feliz y vuelve a casa...

When J.R. finds out through JAMES that CALLY´s baby is his, J.R. decides to go and meet her at PALM BEACH. CLAYTON returns determined to give the SOUTHFORK ownership to BOBBY. CLIFF gets MICHELLE drunk and she wakes up as his new wife. In FLORIDA, J.R. sees that CALLY is having a happy life and he comes home...

La decisión de JAMES a favor de DEBRA LYNN defrauda a J.R., que se siente muy solo en el rancho cuando los niños se van unos días a LONDRES. HILLARY y JORY acuden al rancho a ver a BOBBY. Después de pedirle perdón y anunciar que se entregará, HILLARY es asesinada por MICHELLE al salir de la casa...

JAMES decides to go back with DEBRA LYNN and disappoints J.R., who feels lonely at the ranch when the kids fly to London for a while. HILLARY and JORY come to the ranch to talk with BOBBY. After asking him for forgiveness and telling him that she will deliver herself, HILLARY is shot to death by MICHELLE at the house entryway...

J.R. se enfrenta a su mayor derrota cuando regresa su antiguo enemigo DUSTY. MICHELLE accede a venderle a CLIFF la mitad de la EWING OIL, mientras J.R. se ofrece a comprarle su totalidad. Finalmente, la EWING OIL acabará en manos de CLIFF, que compra la otra mitad al mismo J.R., obligado a venderla si quiere presidir la WESTSTAR:

"No sólo quiero que siga llamándose Ewing Oil" - le dice CLIFF a su secretaria - "sino que quiero que aparezca mi nombre debajo en letras grandes. Luego le haré una foto y se la enviaré a J.R." Pero DUSTY, en complicidad con CARTER, consigue arrebatarle la WESTSTAR:

"No olvides que controlo los derechos de voto del 25%" - le recuerda J.R. a CARTER. "Ah, sí - contesta este - "Clayton te las dio a ti. Tienen mucha importancia, pero quizá eso no te baste. Necesitas tener también las acciones, ¿verdad?" "No te preocupes, pronto las conseguiré..." "Esta vez no, J.R." - dice entrando en el despacho DUSTY. "Sabía que esas acciones me traerían más problemas de lo que valen, así que me alegro de habérselas vendido a MAC." J.R. siente que lo ha perdido todo y coge la pistola de JOCK...

J.R. must face his biggest defeat when his former enemy DUSTY returns. MICHELLE agrees to sell CLIFF his half of EWING OIL, while J.R. offers to buy it all. Finally, EWING OIL ends up in CLIFF´s hands, since the latter buys the other half to J.R. himself, obligated to sell it if he wants to be the Chairman of WESTSTAR:

"Not only do I want the name to stay Ewing Oil" - CLIFF says to his secretary - ", but in big bold letters underneath I want it to say 'Cliff Barnes, President'! Then I'm going to take a picture of it and send it to J.R.!" But DUSTY, allied with CARTER, gets him out of WESTSTAR:

"Don't forget, I do control the voting rights to 25% of it" - J.R. reminds CARTER. "Oh, right - he answers. "Clayton gave them to you. They carry a lot of weight. But maybe the rights aren't enough. Don't you need the shares to go with them?" "Don't worry. I'll get those soon enough..." "Not this time, J.R.". DUSTY says as he walks into the office. "I knew those shares were going to be more trouble than they were worth. So I was happy to sell them to Mac." J.R. feels that he has lost everything and takes JOCK´s pistol...

Desesperado, J.R. recibe la visita de ADAM, un personaje que le muestra una visión de lo que habría sido su vida si él no hubiera nacido: SUE ELLEN sería actriz de TV y seguiría con el desaparecido NICK; KRISTIN tampoco hubiera muerto pero seguiría estafando a los hombres. Habría nacido otro hermano, JASON, y GARY y VAL habrían acabado juntos igualmente...

Desperate, J.R. receives ADAM, a character who will show him a vision of what his life would have been if he hadn´t been born: SUE ELLEN would have become a TV actress and the wife of dead NICK; KRISTIN wouldn´t have been dead either but still be conning men. Another brother would have been born, called JASON, and GARY y VAL would have ended up mated as well...

J.R. y ADAM siguen con su viaje: CALLY hubiera acabado matando a su marido en HALEYVILLE, RAY tendría una familia feliz aunque habría quedado cojo, y CLIFF se hubiera convertido en presidente de la nación. BOBBY sería un jugador y padre divorciado y SOUTHFORK, una urbanización. En la última escena, ADAM revela a J.R. su naturaleza diabólica:

"¿Por qué no te suicidas?" "¿Y que vuelvas al cielo como un fracasado? Nunca llegarás a ser un ángel." "Un ángel. ¿Qué te hace pensar que vengo del Cielo?" Entonces le induce a apretar el gatillo. Cuando llega BOBBY, oye un disparo, abre la puerta y exclama: “Dios mío...”

J.R. and ADAM continue their voyage: CALLY would have killed her abusing husband at HALEYVILLE, RAY would have a happy family though his leg would be damaged, and CLIFF would have become the President of the States. BOBBY would be a gambler and divorced father, and SOUTHFORK would be a suburban area. In the very last scene, ADAM reveals to J.R. his evil nature:

"Why don't you just kill yourself?" "And send you back to heaven a failure? You'll never become an angel." "An angel. What makes you think I'm from Heaven?" Then he makes him pull the trigger. When BOBBY arrives, he hears a shot, opens the door and claims: “Oh my God!"
