J.R. EWING

(LARRY HAGMAN)

JOHN ROSS EWING II:

Primogénito de los EWING, casado con SUE ELLEN, de la que fue padre de un niño, JOHN ROSS. Su vida gira en torno a la EWING OIL, empresa petrolífera familiar. Maquiavélico y ególatra hasta límites insospechados, ambicioso y vengativo como nadie, la única persona que le importa de verdad es su hijo.

Sexualmente insaciable, ha tenido infinidad de amantes, mientras que su relación amor-odio con SUE ELLEN era inestable y totalmente imprevisible. Tan sólo su padre JOCK ejercía cierta influencia sobre él e impedía que, mediante sus oscuros negocios, basados en el chantaje y el soborno, llevara a la compañía a la bancarrota. Su sarcástico sentido del humor y su aspecto de anti-héroe lo convirtieron en un villano nada común y siempre fiel a sí mismo.

J.R. fue interpretado en su adolescencia por KEVIN WIXTED en la miniserie “LOS PRIMEROS AÑOS”. HAGMAN retomó su papel en las 2 secuelas rodadas hasta la fecha, EL REGRESO DE J.R., WAR OF THE EWINGS y la nueva serie, a pesar de que la original insinuara su presunto suicidio.

First-born of the EWINGS, married to SUE ELLEN, who gave birth to his son JOHN ROSS. His life is centered around EWING OIL, the family oil company. Machiavellian and selfish to the hilt, greedy and revengeful like nobody else, the only person he really cares about is his son.

Sexually insatiable, he has had lots of lovers, since his love-hate relationship with SUE ELLEN used to be unstable and completely unpredictible. Only his father JOCK had some influence on him and kept the company away from bankrupt, because J.R.´s dark business deals were based on blackmail and bribe. His sarcastic sense of humor and his anti-hero looks made of him a very uncommon villain, always true to himself.

J.R. was performed as a teenager by KEVIN WIXTED in the miniseries “DALLAS: THE EARLY YEARS”. HAGMAN resumed his role for the 2 sequels filmed to date, J.R. RETURNS, WAR OF THE EWINGS, and the TNT series, though the original show hinted his presumed suicide.

SUE ELLEN EWING

SUE ELLEN SHEPARD EWING:

Esposa de J.R., con quien se casó en 2 ocasiones, madre de JOHN ROSS EWING III y hermana mayor de KRISTIN. Fue educada por una ambiciosa mujer, PATRICIA, que deseaba conseguir mediante sus hijas lo que ella nunca tuvo. Conoció al que sería su marido en el certamen de Miss Tejas de 1967, con quien se casaría 3 años después.

Con el paso del tiempo, ambos cónyuges irían distanciándose y la actitud de J.R. hacia su mujer empujó a esta al alcoholismo y al adulterio. De carácter vulnerable y autodestructivo, prefería conservar su posición social a independizarse. La peligrosa influencia de J.R. convirtió su vida en una tragedia diaria. Sin embargo, el amor que siente por su hijo la ayuda a superar numerosas crisis.

Tras perder a su amante NICHOLAS PEARCE trágicamente, SUE ELLEN acabó casada con el director y guionista inglés DON LOCKWOOD e instalada en Londres. Cuando regresó a SOUTHFORK en la secuela, ya estaba divorciada, y acabó compartiendo la dirección de la EWING OIL con su ex-cuñado BOBBY, enfrentados ambos contra J.R., presidente de la WESTSTAR OIL.

J.R.´s wife, whom he married twice, JOHN ROSS EWING III´s mother and KRISTIN´s older sister. She was raised by an ambitious woman, PATRICIA, who wanted to get what she never had through her daughters. SUE ELLEN met his husband-to-be at the MISS TEXAS´67 contest and married him 3 years later.

As time went by, the couple got estranged and J.R.´s attitude pushed her into booze and adultery. Vulnerable and self-destructive, she´d rather keep her social status than get her independence. J.R.´s dangerous influence turned her life into a daily tragedy. However, her love to her son helps her to overcome her many breakdowns.

After losing his lover NICHOLAS PEARCE tragically, SUE ELLEN ended up married to British director-writer DON LOCKWOOD and settled down in London. When she returned to SOUTHFORK in the Sequel, already separated, eventually shared the EWING OIL ownership with her ex-brother-in-law BOBBY against J.R., now chairman of WESTSTAR OIL.
