(Continúa el reparto protagonista de la eapa anterior, excepto DONNA REED, sustituida por BARBARA BEL GEDDES, y con las ausencias temporales de PATRICK DUFFY y CHARLENE TILTON (que sólo aparecen en sendos "flashbacks" y, el primero, además, en la última secuencia de la temporada. Los actores invitados que permanecen a lo largo de los 31 episodios son DEBORAH SHELTON, JENILEE HARRISON, DACK RAMBO, JOHN BECK como MARK (a partir del 4), JARED MARTIN (recuperando su papel de DUSTY, hasta el episodio 14), MARC SINGER como MATT CANTRELL (del ep. 15 al 29) y STEVE FORREST como BEN STIVERS en los 3 últimos. La "Special Guest Star" de la temporada es BARBARA CARRERA como la malvada ANGELICA NERO, que entra en escena en el episodio 7. Se mantienen los secundarios fijos, con la excepción de ERIC FARLOW, ahora sustituido por JOSHUA HARRIS en el papel de Christopher, que interpretará hasta el final de la serie.

All the stars from the previous season remain in the opening, except DONNA REED, replaced by BARBARA BEL GEDDES, and temporarily missing are PATRICK DUFFY and CHARLENE TILTON (who only appear in one flashback; he also is the center of the last sequence of the season. 1/192: "THE FAMILY EWING” ("LA FAMILIA EWING")

Los EWING se reúnen en SOUTHFORK para asistir al funeral de BOBBY. CLIFF y JAMIE intentan, por un lado, consolar a PAM, que se siente culpable:

“Murió para poder salvarme a mí...Fue culpa mía...Oh, mi pobre hijo, su padre ha muerto por mi culpa...” Sólo ELLIE parece capaz de resistirlo: empieza a preparar el funeral, así como una lista de las cosas que hay que hacer.

"No guardes la pena en tu interior", le aconseja CLAYTON. GARY regresa al rancho para darle apoyo a su madre:

"Has pasado por mucho, GARY. Puedo notar una fortaleza en ti que no tenías. En los próximos días, necesitaré esa fuerza. Todos están sufriendo y me necesitan, así que, durante un tiempo, me apoyaré en CLAYTON y en ti, porque sé que puedo contar contigo." Después de tantos años, GARY se ha encontrado a sí mismo y puede consolar a ELLIE. Pero J.R. descarga su furia en él y en RAY:

"No necesito vuestra ayuda ni vuestra lástima. Yo tenía un hermano y ahora está muerto. Nadie puede sustituirles y menos, vosotros dos..." ELLIE decide enterrar a BOBBY en una hermosa colina verde desde la que puede verse SOUTHFORK, junto una cabaña construida en un árbol, donde los niños EWING jugaban de pequeños. "De todos los sitios donde solía jugar, este era su favorito," le explica a CLAYTON.

"GARY solía venir aquí con él, pero J.R. aprendía de JOCK. Sin embargo, creo que J.R. lo hubiera dado todo por haber sido el niño para el que JOCK construyó la casa..." SUE ELLEN, la última en enterarse de la muerte de BOBBY, acaba emborrachándose, después de aguantar otro ataque verbal de J.R.:

"¿Cómo ibas a saberlo? Estabas demasiado ocupada revolcándote en la cama con aquel vaquero, o quizá emborrachándote un motel. Nunca estás aquí cuando se te necesita. JOHN ROSS casi murió, y BOBBY murió. Sólo piensas en ti misma. Vete con tu vaquero y con tu botella, pero sal de mi vista..." DUSTY quiere cuidarse de ella, y J.R. parece muy feliz de sacarla de su vida:

"Entra en la casa, cárgatela en los hombros y sácala de SOUTHFORK de una maldita vez..." ELLIE intenta explicarle a SUE ELLEN que es una alcohólica y DUSTY no puede ofrecerle la ayuda que necesita, pero SUE ELLEN se ofende por el discurso y se va del rancho, directamente a un bar. DUSTY la sigue hasta allí:

"Verás - le dice -, si me quedo aquí y bebo lo suficiente, entonces no tendré que enfrentarme con nadie – ni con Ellie, ni con mi hijo, ni siquiera contigo." Ella acaba dándole una bofetada, a lo que responde él con un puñetazo, dejándola sin sentido, para poder llevársela de allí...El funeral es una ceremonia sencilla y breve. Se encuentran presentes los hermanos EWING, J.R., GARY y RAY, ELLIE y CLAYTON, SUE ELLEN y DUSTY, los primos JACK y JAMIE, CLIFF, PAMELA y su hijo CHRISTOPHER, JENNA y su hija CHARLIE, y el pequeño JOHN ROSS. Cuando toda la familia se marcha, J.R. se queda solo con el ataúd y habla a su hermano:

"Nunca te dije lo que significabas para mí. Todas aquellas peleas, todo el tiempo que pasamos enfrentados...Lamento que nunca fuésemos amigos. Ojalá me hubiera tomado tiempo para decirte que te quería...Te quiero, y dile a papá que también le quiero. Adiós, BOBBY. Te echaré de menos..."

The EWINGS gather at SOUTHFORK for BOBBY´s funeral. On the other side CLIFF and JAMIE try to comfort PAM, who feels guilty for his death:

“He died trying to save me...It was my fault...Oh, my poor baby, his daddy is dead because of me...” Only ELLIE seems able to cope: she begins to make the arrangements for the service, as well as a things-to-do list.

"Don´t bury the pain inside", CLAYTON advises her. GARY returns to the ranch in order to support his mother:

"You've been through a lot, GARY. I can feel a strength in you that you've never had before. Well, for the next few days, I'm going to need that strength. They're all in pain. They all need me. So for a while, I'm gonna lean on CLAYTON, and on you, because I know you'll be there." After all these years, GARY has found himself and is able to provide solace to ELLIE. But J.R. unloads his rage on him and RAY:

"I don't need your help, or your pity. I had a brother and now he´s dead. No one can replace them, especially you two..." ELLIE decides to have BOBBY buried on a beautiful green hill overlooking SOUTHFORK, near a treehouse where the EWING children played.

"Of all the places where he used to play, this was his favorite," she explains to CLAYTON. "GARY used to come out here with him, but J.R. was learning from JOCK. But I think he would have traded everything if he could have been the one that JOCK built the treehouse for..." SUE ELLEN, the last to know about BOBBY´s death, ends up drunk, after hearing another verbal attack from J.R.:

"How could you have known? You were too busy rollin' around in bed with that saddle-tramp. Or maybe it was gettin' stinkin' drunk at some motel. You're never around when anybody needs you. JOHN ROSS almost died; BOBBY did die. All you ever think about is yourself. Go with your cowboy and your bottle, but get out of my sight..." DUSTY wants to take care of her and J.R. seems to be happy to get her out of her life:

"You just go in the house, throw her over your shoulder and carry her the hell out of SOUTHFORK..." ELLIE tries to make SUE ELLEN understand that she is an alcoholic and DUSTY cannot give her the help that she needs, but SUE ELLEN takes offense at the speech and drives away from the ranch, right to a bar. DUSTY follows her:

"You´ll see", she says to him, "if I stay here and drink enough, then I won´t have to face anyone – nor Miss Ellie, nor my son, not even you." She slaps him and DUSTY knocks her out and leaves with her on his shoulder...The funeral is a simple short ceremony. Present are the EWING brothers J.R., GARY and RAY, ELLIE and CLAYTON, SUE ELLEN and DUSTY, cousins JACK and JAMIE, CLIFF, PAMELA and her child CHRISTOPHER, JENNA and her daughter CHARLIE, and little JOHN ROSS. When the family leaves, J.R. stays for awhile alone with the casket and talks to his brother:

"Never really told you how much you meant to me. All the fights, all that time buttin´ heads with one another...I´m sorry we were never friends. I wish I´d taken time to tell you that I loved you...I do, and you tell Daddy I love him too. Good-bye, BOBBY. I miss you..."

NOTAS: El jueves anterior, KL hacía su último "crossover" físico con DALLAS al anunciarse la muerte de BOBBY al final del episodio. Al día siguiente, GARY aparecía por DALLAS sin hacer ninguna mención de VAL ni de su entonces esposa ABBY. Al final de la temporada, se verá cómo GARY coge un avión hacia DALLAS para buscar ayuda financiera de su familia, pero ese avión y esa visita nunca aterrizaron en la serie-madre. A partir de la "resurrección" de BOBBY, se rompería cualquier vínculo argumental entre ambas series, salvo en el último episodio de DALLAS, ACERTIJO, donde harían apariciones especiales GARY y VALENE.

La foto superior derecha presenta una imagen de J.R. junto al féretro que sólo se vio en el montaje original de este episodio emitido inicialmente por la CBS, con esa escena terminando con un fundido en negro. Tanto las versiones reemitidas como las del dvd, dividen el episodio en dos distintos y convierten esta escena en la última de "La familia Ewing", terminando con una imagen congelada de un primer plano de J.R. mirando hacia arriba.

NOTES: The previous Thursday, KL had done its last physical "crossover" with DALLAS when BOBBY´s death had been announced at the end of the episode. The morning after, GARY showed up on DALLAS without any mention neither to VAL nor his then-wife ABBY. Later in that season, we will see GARY take a flight to DALLAS in order to seek financial help from his family, but that flight and that visit never landed on the mother series. From BOBBY´s "resurrection" forward, any storyline link between both shows would be avoided, except for DALLAS´s final episode, CONUNDRUM, which also featured GARY and VALENE.

The pic right above features an image of J.R. next to the coffin only seen in the original edition of this episode aired by CBS, with that scene ending with a fade to black. Both the re-aired edition and the DVD version divide the episode into two different episodes and made this scene the last one of "The Family Ewing", which ends with a freeze-frame close-up of J.R. looking up.

2/193: "ROCK BOTTOM” ("EL FONDO DE LA BOTELLA")

Después del funeral, SUE ELLEN cambia repentinamente de opinión y decide volver al rancho:

"BOBBY también era muy especial para mí" - asegura la mujer - "Le quería". "¿Se supone que eso tiene que hacerme sentir mejor? No quiero compartir mi dolor contigo. Hace mucho tiempo que no compartimos nada, SUE ELLEN. Ni mi amor, ni mi cama ni la responsabilidad por JOHN ROSS." "Podríamos ayudarnos mutuamente..." "Vuelve con tu botella, esa es la única ayuda que necesitas." "Hoy no he bebido..." "Aún es temprano. Eres una vergüenza, aquí nadie quiere verte. Te estás hundiendo, cariño, y no me arrastrarás contigo. Por mi bien y el de mi hijo. Él ya no tiene madre ni yo esposa. Para mí no existes. No eres más que un mal recuerdo que se resiste a desaparecer..." Estas palabras la llevan de nuevo a la bebida.

Los EWING se sorprenden al saber que BOBBY ha dejado su parte de la EWING OIL a CHRISTOPHER, aunque será administrada por PAM hasta su mayoría de edad, hecho que enfurece a J.R. ELLIE, CLAYTON y JENNA buscan preocupados a SUE ELLEN:

“Cada vez que bebe, se arriesga más y más...” “No sabemos que haya estado bebiendo”, afirma CLAYTON. “¿De verdad...?, pone en duda ELLIE. J.R. comienza a salir con MANDY por lugares públicos y explica a la joven:

“Tengo un fuerte presentimiento de que el problema de SUE ELLEN se va a resolver por sí solo...” Ajena a esto, SUE ELLEN acaba vagando por los barrios bajos de la ciudad, sin identificación, sin coche y sin amor propio...Cuando se despierta una mañana en un mugriento motel y se mira en el espejo, exclama:

"Eres repugnante. Te odio."

After the service, SUE ELLEN suddenly changes her mind and decides to return to the ranch:

"BOBBY was very special to me too" - she assures. "I loved him." "Is that supposed to make me feel better? Well, I won't let you. We haven't shared anything in a long, long time, SUE ELLEN. Not my love, my bed or the responsibility for JOHN ROSS." "We could help each other." "Go back to your bottle. That's the only help you need." "I haven't been drinking." "The day's young yet." "You're a terrible embarrassment, nobody around here wants to see you. You're sinking, honey, and you're dragging me down with you. Not for my sake or my son's. He doesn't have a mother. I don't have a wife. You don't exist. You're just a bad memory, doesn't know when to go away." These words push her to the bottle.

The EWINGS are shocked to know that BOBBY left his share of EWING OIL to CHRISTOPHER, though managed by PAM until he is eighteen, which infuriates J.R.ELLIE, CLAYTON and JENNA are desperately seeking for SUE ELLEN:

“Every time she drinks, her chances only get worse...” “We don´t know that she´s been drinking”, CLAYTON says. “Don´t we...?" ELLIE doubts.J.R. starts to date MANDY at public places as he tells the young woman:

“I have a very strong feeling that the SUE ELLEN problem is going to take care of itself...” At the same time, SUE ELLEN wanders through the downtown, without identification, car or self-esteem...When one morning she wakes up at a lousy motel and stares at herself in a mirror, she yells:

“You are disgusting! I hate you!!"

3/194: "THOSE EYES" ("AQUELLOS OJOS")

PAM se siente dividida entre hacer lo mejor para su hijo y lo que BOBBY querría que hiciese. CLAYTON y ELLIE localizan a SUE ELLEN en la unidad de desintoxicación, donde ha sido trasladada desde los bajos fondos de la ciudad. DUSTY va a ver a SUE ELLEN al hospital:

“He venido porque te quiero, para cumplir la promesa de ayudarte. Quiero que te recuperes porque te quiero...” Pero DUSTY acaba peleándose con J.R.

"Deberías ver dónde la tienen" - le explica más tarde a MANDY. "Ni siquiera podrías reconocerla. Y el idiota de FARLOW asegurándole que iba a ayudarla. De no ser por él, seguramente no estaría allí. No le bastaba con arruinar su propio matrimonio...Y SUE ELLEN, era como si no estuviera allí, como si otra persona la hubiera poseído. La mirada de su rostro, de sus ojos, no tenía vida...Estaba confundida y asustada. No se parecía a la que conocí, tenía los ojos más hermosos de Tejas. Participaba en un certamen de belleza y yo era uno de los jueces. Nunca había visto tantas mujeres hermosas juntas en toda mi vida. Y allí estaba ella, alta y tímida, con esos maravillosos ojos llenos de fuego y alma. Había 32 mujeres en el escenario pero yo sólo podía verla a ella. Sabía que ganaría, desde que la vi por primera vez. Miss Tejas 1967..." Finalmente, ELLIE convence a su hijo para que se enfrente al problema:

"No dejaré que lo evites o que nos lo pases a mí o a CLAYTON. Ella es tu mujer y, mientras lo sea, es tu responsabilidad. No me importa cuál es el estado de tu matrimonio. Es una mujer a la que hemos querido y que nos ha querido a nosotros, la madre de tu hijo, que aún la necesita, y un miembro de esta familia, J.R. Es una EWING. Y tus sentimientos personales no cambian nada de eso. Está enferma, y si tú se lo permites, se matará. Por eso debes tomar una decisión por ella. Tienes que internarla en un sanatorio donde al menos, podamos empezar a ofrecerle ayuda."

"Has hecho lo correcto, J.R." - le dice ELLIE después de salir del centro - "Algún día, ella te lo agradecerá..."

PAM is torn between doing the best for her son and doing what BOBBY would like her to do. CLAYTON and ELLIE track down SUE ELLEN at the police detoxification unit, where she has been moved to from the town dead ends. DUSTY comes up to see SUE ELLEN:

“I´m here because I love you, I´m here to keep my promise to help you. I want you healthy again. Because I want you...” But DUSTY eventually gets entangled in a fight with J.R.

"You should see where they got her" - he later tells MANDY. "God, you wouldn't even recognize her. And that idiot FARLOW climbing all over her telling her how he was gonna help her. She probably wouldn't be there in the first place if it wasn't for him. It's not enough that he screws up his own marriage, is it? And SUE ELLEN, God, it was like it wasn't her there. It was like somebody else in her body. The look on her face, in her eyes it was so lifeless. So full of confusion and fear. Nothing like the first time I saw them. Good Lord, she had the most beautiful eyes in Texas. She was in a beauty contest and I was one of the judges. I'd never seen so many gorgeous women in one place in my whole life. She was so tall and shy. And those wonderful eyes were filled with fire and spirit. There were 32 women up on that stage, and I couldn't see any of them but her. From the minute I laid eyes on her, I knew she'd win. Miss Texas 1967..." Finally, ELLIE convinces her son to face the problem:

"I won't let you run away from it or pass it on to me or CLAYTON. SUE ELLEN is your wife. And as long as she is, she's your responsibility. I don't care what shape your marriage is in. She's a woman that we have loved and a woman that has loved us. She's the mother of your son who still needs her. She's a member of this family, J.R. She is a EWING. And your personal feelings don't change any of that or at anyway excuse you from helping her. She's sick. And she'll kill herself if you let her. Which is exactly why you have to make the decision for her. You have to commit SUE ELLEN to a sanitarium where we can at least begin to help her."

"It´s all right, J.R." – ELLIE assures him when he walks out of the place – "You´ve done what had to be done. Someday SUE ELLEN will thank you for this..."

4/195: "RESURRECTION" ("RESURRECCIÓN")

Tanto J.R. como JEREMY se ofrecen a comprar las acciones de CHRISTOPHER, presionando a PAM para que negocie con ellos:

"He oído hablar lo suficiente de la EWING OIL para toda una vida" - le dice PAM a J.R., que le responde: "Quiero que pienses cómo afectaría al recuerdo de BOBBY que vendieras a alguien que no fuera de la familia. Me gustaría aligerar la tensión que sientes por un precio más que justo." "Muy amable por tu parte" - dice PAM con sarcasmo. "Ahora que BOBBY no está", añade J.R. - "depende de mí que la familia siga unida, y me esforzaré al máximo para que la EWING OIL permanezca dentro de la familia de CHRISTOPHER."

También ELLIE piensa en vender a la WESTSTAR para mantener unida a la familia, pero esta decisión enfrenta a la familia. Por otra parte, SUE ELLEN recibe la visita de DUSTY en el sanatorio, que se muestra decidido a sacar adelante su relación. Ella accede a seguir el programa de rehabilitación, pero uno de los empleados le ofrece bebida a cambio de dinero. “Puedo conseguirlo. Sé que puedo. Sólo necesito ayuda...” CLIFF, J.R. y JEREMY van tras las acciones de la EWING OIL que ha conseguido JACK tras el juicio, pero él no se compromete con ninguno de ellos. PAM, que ha vuelto a la BARNES-WENTWORTH, se ve desbordada por las presiones, hasta que un día...

Both J.R. and JEREMY offer to buy CHRISTOPHER´s share, pushing PAM to deal with them:

"I have heard enough about EWING OIL to last me a lifetime" - PAM tells J.R., who counters: "I want you to think what it would do to his memory if you sold to someone outside the family. I'd like to lessen that strain for you at a more-than-fair price." "Oh, well, that's so kind of you" - counters PAM sarcastically. "With BOBBY gone it's up to me to keep this family together to the best of my ability and part of that is keeping EWING OIL together for CHRISTOPHER's family." Also, MISS ELLIE is pondering about selling out to WESTSTAR to keep the family united, but this decision puts all of them against each other. From her part, SUE ELLEN is surprised to see DUSTY at the sanitarium. He seems determined to make their relationship work. She agrees to join a rehab program, but one of the attendants offers her a drink for money.

“I can do it! I can do it. I just need help...” CLIFF, J.R. and JEREMY are after the EWING OIL share owned by JACK after the suit, but he doesn´t want to commit to anyone of them. Back at BARNES-WENTWORTH, PAM gets more and more confused by pressures, until one day...

5/196: "SAVING GRACE" ("LA GRACIA DE ESTAR A SALVO")

PAM se desmaya cuando aparece en su casa MARK GRAISON, al que creía muerto.

"No sé si reír o llorar...Dime que no estoy soñando", susurra ella cuando recupera la conciencia. Más tarde, MARK le explica que estaba en HONG-KONG cuando ella fue a buscarle, pero sobornó a otra persona para que le sustituyera en la cama del hospital:

"Vi cómo la salud de mi padre se deterioraba a causa de una enfermedad. Fue terrible para él, y peor para mí. No podía hacer nada sino sufrir con él. Créeme, no te hubiera puesto en esa situación. Lo planeé todo con detalle: MARK GRAISON saltó del avión y, antes de llegar al agua, se había convertido en MITCHELL SWANSON. No es tan difícil como se cree asumir una nueva identidad. Me esperaba un barco y empecé a buscar un remedio. Había oído que en Suiza se estaba investigando sobre enfermedades sanguíneas poco comunes y me animé a ingresarme en una clínica privada de allí. Pero al cabo de unos meses, quedó claro que no podían ayudarme. Mi salud empeoró rápidamente. Fui a África, India, Malasia..." "Ahora pareces recuperado. Debes de haber encontrado un remedio en algún sitio" - le dice una esperanzada PAM. "No existe remedio. Debes comprender que estoy en remisión."

Entretanto, JEREMY hace ofertas a RAY y JACK para comprar sus partes de la EWING OIL y CLIFF intenta ganarse la confianza de JACK. Mientras, J.R. está furioso porque su investigación sobre el pasado de JACK no ha servido de nada, y SUE ELLEN sigue recuperándose en el sanatorio. Finalmente, MARK hace una visita a J.R. y le da un puñetazo:

“Lamentarás el día en que enviaste a PAM a buscarme, porque me encontró, y voy a hacer lo que sea para que sufras tanto como sufrió ella. Mira bien este lugar, J.R., porque no será más que un recuerdo cuando haya acabado contigo..."

PAM faints when MARK GRAISON shows up at her house.

"I don´t know whether to laugh or cry...Tell me I´m not dreaming", she whispers when regains the conscience. Later MARK explains that he was in HONG KONG when she went there for him, but he bribed another person to replace him at the hospital bed:

"I watched my father waste away from a debilitating disease. It was horrible for him. It was worse for me. I was helpless to do anything but suffer along with him. Meanwhile JEREMY makes offers to RAY and JACK in order to buy out their EWING OIL shares and CLIFF tries to win JACK´s confidence. On the other side J.R. is angry because his investigation about JACK´s past has been no good as SUE ELLEN continues her rehabilitation at the sanitarium. Finally, MARK calls on J.R. and punches him:

"You´ll regret the day you sent PAM looking for me. Because she found me. And I´m going to do everything I can to make you suffer the way she suffered. Take a good look around you. This place is going to be nothing but memories before I´m through."

"Me avergüenza admitirlo, pero eso hice" - confiesa J.R. - "Diablos, PATRICIA, soy humano. Cuando ella encuentra lo que busca en una botella, yo tengo que buscar consuelo en otra parte." "No sé qué ha fallado con mis hijas. Las eduqué para que fueran esposas y madres perfectas. Nunca comprendí qué le pasó a KRISTIN. Pero SUE ELLEN era todo lo que quise que fuera. ELLIE backs up PAM in her decision to sell out to JEREMY, afraid of J.R.´s thought of leaving with his son.

"We left him no choice”, she confides to CLAYTON, "Without EWING OIL, there´s no reason for him to stay. That´s why, for better or worse, I can´t sell to WENDELL. I need to save my son, not lose him." SUE ELLEN is released from the sanitarium to her mother´s care, and lease a house at Turtle Creek. Both women re-appear at the Oil Barons´ Ball, and so does MANDY, who confesses J.R. she still loves him and will be whatever he wants her to: wife or lover. JACK is feeling watched by a mysterious woman and the KREBBSES get bad news about the baby they are expecting: he suffers the Down Syndrome:

"The child will be retarded..." - RAY says - "There's no reason why we shouldn't start over." "Isn't this baby reason enough?" "Well, you can get pregnant again." "I'm pregnant now. This baby inside me is 5 months old." "This baby is very sick." "This baby is alive!" "They say it is seriously abnormal..." - adds a desperate RAY while DONNA gets enraged. The Oil Man of the Year Award is given posthumously to BOBBY EWING and received by ELLIE, who asks PAM to accept it in CHRISTOPHER´s name. PAM takes the chance to announce her eventual decision:

"With apologies to those who may not understand my sudden change of heart, I cannot...will not sell my son´s heritage to WESTSTAR." When J.R. happily approaches her, PAMELA adds: “I´m not selling the shares at all, not even to you J.R. From now on, it´s you and me. I´ll be seeing you in the office, partner..."

ANGELICA NERO utiliza a CLIFF para atraer a J.R., que no sospecha que ella ha elegido la EWING OIL a causa de su interés por JACK. Cuando PAM se instala en el despacho de BOBBY, J.R. la amenaza:

"Esto no es un juego sentimental, sino una competición, y más vale que te prepares, porque el juego será muy duro..." DONNA y RAY deciden tener el niño después de visitar una escuela para disminuidos, seguros de poder superar los problemas que conlleve:

RAY and DONNA find themselves in a quandary after knowing their unborn son suffers the Down Syndrome and they have opposite opinions about it:

"Maybe we can find the answers together" - DONNA suggests. "Together? It sounds to me like you've made up your mind already." "I want this baby more than anything. But I want you to want it too. We're both scared to death because we don't know enough about the problem." ANGELICA NERO is using CLIFF to attract J.R., who doesn´t suspect that she has chosen EWING OIL due to her interest for JACK. When PAM settles in BOBBY's office, J.R. threatens her:

"This is not a sentimental game, but a competition, and you´d better be ready, because the game is gonna be real hard..." DONNA and RAY make the choice to have the baby once they visit a school for handicapped children, certain that they will overcome the problems the illness takes:

"I didn't wanna find out I could be wrong" - confides RAY - "That all my dreams for our little baby were never gonna come true." "Dreams can change." "I sure hope what we're doing is right." "This baby was conceived in love. Our love. How could it be anything but right?"

"Así que esa es MANDY WINGER...Me parece una chica muy vulgar. Esperaba a alguien excepcional, de buena familia." "Bueno, supongo que consideras que SUE ELLEN desciende de la realeza por la parte de tu familia, o quizá de la de su padre."

"No hay nada de malo en la forma en que eduqué a mis hijas" "No, sólo el resultado..." - contesta él cínicamente. Más tarde, SUE ELLEN contraataca, ofendida:

"Por mí, puedes tirarte a MANDY en mitad de ese campo, delante de tu familia y amigos..." Mientras observa a unas reses, DONNA sufre una caída que tendrá trágicas consecuencias.

ELLIE has organized a fund-raising rodeo at the ranch with DUSTY participating. Pressured by the latter, SUE ELLEN gets to the conclusion that she is not ready for a commitment. J.R. tries to dazzle ANGELICA, but it is JACK the center of her attention.

MANDY shows up at SOUTHFORK invited by J.R. She and SUE ELLEN eventually meet:

"Why is it that the mistress always thinks she knows more than the wife...? – she says to MANDY. On the other side, PATRICIA and J.R. have a very tight conversation:

"So that's MANDY WINGER...Well, she's such a common-looking girl. I expected someone exceptional, someone with breeding." "Well, I suppose you think Sue Ellen's descended from royalty on your side of the family or maybe her daddy's." "There's nothing wrong with the way Sue Ellen was brought up." "No, just the way she turned out" – he cynically answers. Later a hurt SUE ELLEN strikes back:

"You can throw MANDY down in the middle of that arena and make love to her in front of your family and friends..." While watching some cattle, DONNA falls from the rail. This will bring a tragic outcome.

PATRICIA se define a favor de la separación de su hija y J.R., aunque cree que JOHN ROSS debe vivir con ellas. Los KREBBS atraviesan una crisis cuando ella sufre un aborto accidental.

"He venido aquí creyendo que era la araña y ahora me siento como si fuera la mosca" – le dice J.R. a ANGELICA cuando se reúnen por la noche. Mientras, SUE ELLEN contrata a un abogado y empieza la lucha por la custodia de JOHN ROSS. La reacción de J.R. es inmediata y fulminante:

"Divórciate, cásate con ese vaquero, haz lo que quieras, pero ni se te ocurra soñar con quitarme a mi hijo. Porque si lo hicieras, no habría lugar en el mundo donde estuvieras a salvo de mí..."

The doctor asks RAY whose life he should save in case he had to make a choice:

“Save my baby if you can, but don´t let DONNA die...”, he answers overwhelmed. SUE ELLEN tells DUSTY that she is not ready to live with him. PATRICIA finds herself supporting her daughter´s separation from J.R., though she thinks that JOHN ROSS should live with them. The KREBBSES are going through a crisis when she has an accidental abortion.

"I´ve come here believing I was the spider and now I´m feeling as if I were the fly.” – J.R. says to ANGELICA when they meet late at night. Meanwhile SUE ELLEN hires a lawyer and starts the fight for JOHN ROSS´s custody. J.R. reacts immediately and strongly:

"Divorce me, go marry that cowboy. Do anything you want, but don´t even dream of trying to take my son away from me. Because if you should somehow succeed, there´s not enough room in this world to keep you safe from me..."

Se fueron a vivir a MONTANA, y DIMITRI volvió a GRECIA. La primavera siguiente, dio a luz a JACK. DIMITRI no tuvo más hijos y, cuando NANCY murió diez años después, quedó destrozado. JASON se marchó con sus hijos y perdió su pista. Hasta hace unos meses, cuando vio una foto de JACK en un periódico de DALLAS. Ahora se encuentra muy enfermo y, antes de morir, quiere que su verdadero hijo consiga lo que es suyo, y aquí entra nuestro acuerdo" "¿Quieres que parezca que JACK se ha hecho rico con nuestro negocio como si se lo hubiera ganado?" - pregunta un confundido J.R. "Sí. Debes convencerle para que se asocie con nosotros, pero sin decirle lo que sabes. Si descubre la verdad, no habrá negocio. Cuando todo acabe, tu primo JACK se convertirá en uno de los hombres más ricos del mundo."JOHN ROSS se escapa de casa porque teme otra batalla judicial:

"Si es verdad que todos me quieren, ¿por qué me hacen esto entonces?"- pregunta el niño a ELLIE, cuando le encuentra en la cabaña de BOBBY – "Quiero que las cosas sean como antes, cuando vivíamos todos juntos.” Asimismo, también intenta animar a DONNA:

"No voy a decirte que sé lo que sientes, pero comprendo lo terrible y doloroso que debe de ser. No es posible explicar la pérdida de un hijo. Sólo puedo decirte que el dolor disminuirá, poco a poco." "No quiero olvidar el dolor" - confiesa DONNA - "porque significaría que me olvido del niño y nunca podré hacer eso." Tras hablar por separado con el niño y con los padres, el juez les comunica su decisión:

“Estoy convencido de que los dos quieren a su hijo. Mi decisión no refleja la profundidad de sus sentimientos hacia él, o de él hacia ustedes. Pero me compete a mí conceder la custodia a uno de los padres. Y por lo tanto, he decidido concederla a la Sra. EWING.”

J.R. decides to have ANGELICA and her boss investigated, since the tycoon DIMITRI MARINOS looks very much like JACK. She assures that JACK is his illegitimate son and heir to his fortune:

"DIMITRI wanted NANCY to divorce JASON and to marry him, but she wouldn't. Despite DIMITRI's wealth, she was in love with her husband. He never knew. Then they moved to Montana, and DIMITRI finally went back to GREECE. The following spring, she gave birth to JACK. DIMITRI never had another child and, ten years later, NANCY died. DIMITRI was heartbroken even then. JASON left Montana with the children, and DIMITRI lost track of them. Until a few months ago when he saw a picture of JACK in the Dallas society column. Now DIMITRI's very sick. And before he dies, he would like his real son to have what is his, and that is where our deal comes in." "You want it to look like JACK struck it rich with our oil deal make it seem as if he earned it?" - asks a confused J.R. "Yes. You must convince him to become a partner. But you cannot tell him what you know. If he discovers the truth, the deal is off. When all is said and done, your cousin JACK is gonna be one of the richest men in the world."JOHN ROSS runs away from home because he is afraid of another court battle:

"If they all really love me, why are they doing this to me?"- the kid asks ELLIE, when she finds him hidden in BOBBY´s treehouse – "I want things the way they used to be, when we lived all together.” As well, she tries to cheer DONNA up:

"I won't tell you that I know what you're feeling but I do understand how terribly painful it must be. There's no No explaining to the loss of a child. The only thing that I can tell you is the pain will lessen. Little by little." "I don't wanna forget the pain" - DONNA reveals - . Because that would mean I was forgetting the child. I'm never gonna do that." After talking separately with the boy and his parents, the judge tells them his decision:

“I´m convinced that both of you love your son. My decision is no reflection on the depth of feeling you each have for him, or he for you. But it falls to me to award custody to only one parent. And I have therefore made my decision to award that to Mrs. EWING.”

"PAM siempre tiene que decir que no antes de decir que sí. Así cree que está haciendo algo importante...” Finalmente, se llega a un acuerdo sobre el negocio con la MARINOS:

"Sé que parece que os he estado dando largas sobre esta decisión. Srta. NERO, mis disculpas si le he complicado las cosas a usted y su empresa. Soy precavida. Y dado que soy una recién llegada, relativamente hablando, a la industria del petróleo, quería asegurarme de que tenía la mejor información posible en la que basar mi decisión. SUE ELLEN is really upset by the possibility of J.R.´s appeal. Of course, J.R. has begun to "prepare his defense", employing the judge´s son at EWING OIL. ANGELICA orders NICHOLAS to keep J.R.´s detective kidnapped in GREECE, up until GRACE can intercept the report. Later on, J.R. calms down ANGELICA:

"PAM always has to say no before to say yes. So she thinks she´s doin´ something...” Finally, they get to an agreement regarding the MARINOS deal:

"I know that it appears as though I've been dragging my feet over this decision. Miss Nero, I apologize if I've complicated matters for you or your company. I'm cautious. And since I am a relative newcomer to the oil business I wanted to be sure that I had the best possible information upon which to base my decision. Everything I've reviewed supports the fact that this co-venture would be good for Ewing Oil." DONNA breaks her silence and re-connects with RAY, who has put down the house he was building. To everybody´s surprise, SUE ELLEN decides to leave JOHN ROSS at the ranch:

"We have been using the child as a pawn in our fights. He doesn´t want to live with me, he wants to stay at SOUTHFORK, and I want to do the best for him..."

ANGELICA comprueba que J.R. no ha recibido la información de GRECIA. Antes de marcharse de DALLAS, PATRICIA resuelve sus diferencias con su hija:

"Estabas demasiado ocupada planeando nuestro futuro para ver qué necesitábamos en el presente. Ocurrió algo curioso cuando observaba cómo ayudabas a JOHN ROSS a prepararse para irse de SOUTHFORK. De repente, me acordé de algo que sucedió hace mucho tiempo. Me ayudabas a prepararme para mi fiesta de cumpleaños, creo que cumplía 7. Yo quería llevar mi vestido amarillo pero tú me obligaste a llevar otro. La noche de mi graduación, elegiste tanto mi vestido como a mi acompañante. Aquella noche me emborraché por primera vez. Sólo procuro que lo entiendas. Siempre has tenido buenas intenciones, pero nunca has escuchado. No quiero que eso le pase a mi hijo. Intento saber qué necesita ahora." "¿De verdad crees que la respuesta es dejarle allí?" "Sinceramente, aún no sé cuál es la respuesta" - dice SUE ELLEN a su madre. Al final, termina regresando al rancho, tras informar de ello a DUSTY:

"Después de todo lo que te ha hecho J.R., ¿vas a volver con él? Casi te ha destruido. ¿Has tenido en cuenta el riesgo que supone para tu propia supervivencia?" "Si decido volver, tengo que creer que soy lo bastante fuerte para soportar lo que ocurra. Parte de asumir tu forma de ser es aprender a confiar en tus instintos..." "¿Y qué te dicen sobre tú y yo?" "Creo que sabes exactamente lo que nos pasaría." "Si decides volver, me sacarás de tu vida para siempre..." Preocupada por la noticia, MANDY acude a CLIFF en busca de venganza:

"Por un viejo refrán que mi abuelo me enseñó: "No te enfades: véngate"" - brinda CLIFF con MANDY.

J.R. asks SUE ELLEN to come back at SOUTHFORK, since he knows that she would lose the boy´s custody doing so. At the same time JENNA doesn´t want to keep on dating JACK. ANGELICA checks out that J.R. didn´t receive the information from GREECE. Before leaving DALLAS, PATRICIA works out her problems with her daughter:

"You were too busy planning for their future to hear what they needed in the present. A funny thing happened when I was watching you help JOHN ROSS get ready to leave SOUTHFORK. I suddenly remembered something that happened a long time ago. You were helping me get ready for one of my birthday parties. I think it was my seventh. I wanted to wear my yellow dress. You had something else in mind. The night of my senior prom you picked out my dress and the boy I went with. I came home drunk that night for the very first time. I'm just trying to make you understand. I know you've always meant well but you never let up and you never listened. I don't want that to happen to my son. And I'm trying to hear him. I honestly don't know what the answer is yet" - says SUE ELLEN to her mother. Eventually, she returns to the ranch, after talking to DUSTY about it:

"After everything J.R. has done to you, you're going to go back to him? The man has damn near destroyed you. Have you considered the risk to yourself to your own survival?" "If I do decide to go back I have to believe that I'm strong enough to handle whatever happens. Part of being your own person is learning to trust your instincts." "What do your instincts tell you about you and me?" "I think you know exactly what would happen." "If you decide to go back you're gonna push me out of your life forever..." Upset by the news, MANDY turns to CLIFF with vengeance in her mind:

"To an old saying my granddaddy taught me: "Don't get mad, get even"" - CLIFF toasts with MANDY.

"Nunca me imaginé que serías la clase de mujer que se conformaría con ser sólo la amante de un hombre" - le dice a MANDY - "SUE ELLEN ha vuelto a SOUTHFORK. Lo sé, es por el bien de JOHN ROSS, pero él tiene 7 años. Eso significa que tendrán que pasar once más antes de que vaya a la universidad. ¿Estás dispuesta a esperar tanto tiempo?" PAM gets a mysterious package from South America, while JACK hits the road with destiny unknown after being rejected by JENNA again:

"I won´t let you get me out of your life because I know we can work it out together..." – he had told her before. "You and I have nothing to work out" – she answers roughly. CLIFF reports MANDY about J.R. and ANGELICA after-hours meetings:

"I just never figured you for the kind of woman who'd be happy being somebody's mistress forever" - he tells MANDY - "SUE ELLEN's moved back to Southfork again. I know. It's for John Ross' sake, but he´s 7 years old. That means it will be 11 years before he's ready to go to school and leave Southfork. You're telling me you're willing to wait?" "I'm the only woman J.R. loves." "Maybe, but you're certainly not the only woman that J.R. makes love with. The man's incapable of being faithful to anyone..." After watching it with her own eyes, MANDY decides to get even once and for all.

"Everyone was right. You just tell me what you want me to do. J.R.'s betrayed me for the last time. Now it's my turn."

"O empiezas a confiar en mí, o te juro que lo pasaremos muy mal, y nos amargaremos la vida como socios, " le dice PAM a J.R. para convencerle. Durante una inspección en un pozo, JAMIE, que ahora trabaja con CLIFF en la B.W., sufre un grave accidente que pone en peligro su vida...

ANGELICA is worried by JACK´s disappearance, but J.R. assures that he will be back on time to attend the CARACAS Convention. MATT CANTRELL returns to DALLAS unaware that his childhood friend BOBBY is dead. When PAM understands how valuable MATT´s emerald mine was for BOBBY, she promises him to keep the investment of EWING OIL on his business:

"You better begin to trust me, or I swear you that we´re going to have a very bad time, and we´ll bitter each other lives´ as partners, " PAM says to J.R. trying to convince him. During an inspection in a field, JAMIE, who is now working with CLIFF at B.W., suffers a serious accident that puts her life in danger...

JENNA es la única que tiene idea de dónde puede estar y todos le buscan desesperadamente:

"Nunca le pasa nada bueno a alguien que me quiera...", comenta JENNA a la familia. Cuando se entera de que la sangre de JACK es compatible con la de JAMIE, J.R. se da cuenta de que ANGELICA le ha mentido con su historia...

JAMIE´s life depends on JACK being found before 24 hours so he can donate his blood, of a very rare type. On the other side, MARK and SUE ELLEN seek for other donors, and J.R. himself offers a reward to the person who can track down JACK. JENNA is the only one who has a slight idea of where he can be and everyone is desperate to find him:

"Nothing good ever happens to anyone who loves me...", JENNA murmurs in front of the family. When he finds out that JACK´s blood matches JAMIE´s, J.R. realizes ANGELICA has told him a false story...

El estado de salud de JAMIE se mantiene crítico, aunque parece ser que responde positivamente a la sangre de JACK. J.R. utiliza los ordenadores del Instituto GRAISON para analizar la sangre de JACK y descubrir así que este y JAMIE tenían los mismos padres. ELLIE compra en secreto las empresas que CLAYTON ha puesto a la venta:

"No puedes seguir comprando todo lo que venda él," le advierte a ELLIE su amigo PUNK, "Te arruinarás si sigues así." Por su parte, J.R. le pide explicaciones a ANGELICA sobre su engaño:

"No te dije que había rumores de que DIMITRI se estaba muriendo y que, para ciertas personas, sin él no hay naviera MARINOS. Si no puedo acallar esos rumores, la empresa se arruinará. En la reunión que se celebrará en la MARTINICA el mes que viene, mostraremos a JACK como si fuera DIMITRI." J.R. impone sus condiciones a ANGELICA: "En lugar de la mitad de los beneficios, quiero un 20% adicional de tu parte que irá a parar directamente a mi cuenta de un banco suizo. El 30% de algo es mucho mejor que el 50% de nada, ¿no crees?" Por otro lado, J.R. y MATT resultan ser cómplices de un oscuro plan:

"Nunca esperé que trabajaríamos juntos" - le dice MATT. "Recordar aquel negocio tuyo de las esmeraldas ha sido una de las mejores ideas que he tenido. Voy a disfrutar dirigiendo la EWING OIL sin tenerla a PAM vigilando a mis espaldas. De hecho, no me importaría que nunca volviera...Es una broma" - añade con una sonrisa J.R.

JAMIE´s health condition remains critical, though she seems to respond positively to JACK´s blood. J.R. uses the GRAISON Research computers to analyse JACK´s blood thus discovering that he and JAMIE had the same parents. ELLIE secretly buys the companies that CLAYTON has been selling:

"You can´t keep buying everything he is selling," she is warned by her friend PUNK, "You´ll go broke if that keeps up." Afterwards he demands ANGELICA the truth about her deception:

"What I did not tell you is that there were rumors about DIMITRI dying and there are some people who believe that without him, there is no MARINOS Shipping. The company is on the verge of a collapse if I cannot find a way to stop those rumors. At the meeting in MARTINIQUE next month we will show JACK to the world as DIMITRI." J.R. imposes his own conditions to ANGELICA: "Instead of the 50-50 split, I want an additional 20 percent from your share to go directly into my Swiss bank account. 30 percent of something is a lot better than 50 percent of nothing, isn't it?" Also, J.R. and MATT turn out to be accessories in a convoluted plot:

"I never expected you and I to be working together" - MATT tells him. "Remembering that bum emerald deal of yours was just about one of the best ideas I've ever had. I'm gonna enjoy running Ewing Oil without her breathing down my neck. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't care if you never brought her back...I was just kidding." - he adds with a smile.

Finalmente, MATT y PAM llegan a COLOMBIA, donde les espera el intrigante jefe de policía RUEDA.

J.R. and MATT are allied to discredit PAM in front of everybody so J.R. can kick her out of EWING OIL. PAM herself decides to fly to LOS GATOS, COLOMBIA, in order to visit the mine, against MARK´s wishes. J.R. provides CLIFF phony information to make him associate with her sister. At last MATT and PAM arrive at COLOMBIA, where they are received by intriguing police chief RUEDA.

NICHOLAS recibe noticias que amenazan con hundir su proyecto de LA MARTINICA.

J.R. has noticed that GRACE and JACK are a couple and is convinced that it´s part of ANGELICA´s tactics:

“Babe, you look many things but innocent is not one of them" – J.R. remarks to GRACE. CLAYTON finds out that ELLIE had bought his companies and considers it a gesture of love. At the end, he decides to sell everything out and devote himself to the ranch. MATT and PAM leave for LOS GATOS in the mine´s direction. NICHOLAS gets news that threaten their MARTINIQUE project.

Cuando MATT recupera el conocimiento, descubre que el campamento ha sido saqueado y PAM ha desaparecido. Una vez en LOS GATOS, informa a J.R. y este decide viajar a COLOMBIA para cerciorarse de que no se ha descubierto su complicidad con MATT.

"Nunca olvido a la gente que me hace favores, ni a la gente que me los niega." – asegura J.R. al Jefe de Policía RUEDA. También MARK y CLIFF se trasladan hasta allí. ANGELICA sospecha que J.R. puede haber adivinado sus intenciones y ordena a GRACE que seduzca a JACK. Mientras, CLIFF, MARK y MATT reciben un mensaje de los secuestradores de PAM.

When MATT regains conscience, he discovers that the camp has been destroyed and PAM is missing. Once at LOS GATOS, he reports J.R. about it and the latter decides to fly to COLOMBIA and check out if his alliance with MATT has not been discovered.

"I never forget people who does me favors, nor people who denies them too." – J.R. assures to the Police Chief RUEDA. Also MARK and CLIFF travel down there. ANGELICA suspects that J.R. may have guessed her intentions and orders GRACE to seduce JACK. Meanwhile CLIFF, MARK and MATT get a message from PAM´s kidnappers.

21/212: "DIRE STRAITS" ("MOMENTOS DIFÍCILES")

MARK y CLIFF trabajan incansables en su intento de liberar a PAM. La cantidad del rescate resulta sorprendentemente baja: 100.000 dólares. Cuando MATT tarda en volver tras entregar el rescate, los peores temores de MARK se confirman.

“El sueño de BOBBY...se ha convertido en la pesadilla de PAM” – afirma temeroso CLIFF. Pero, al día siguiente, PAM es puesta en libertad. Mientras, MANDY confiesa a J.R. que ella le estuvo espiando para CLIFF, sin saber que le pasaba información falsa:

"No podía soportar la idea de compartirte con otra mujer, tenía que castigarte..."

MARK and CLIFF are relentlessly trying to set PAM free. The ransom sum turns out to be surprisingly low: 100.000 dollars. When MATT takes time to return after delivering the ransom, MARK´s worst fears are confirmed.

“BOBBY´s dream...has become PAM´s nightmare” – a scared CLIFF says.But the next morning PAM is released. Meanwhile, MANDY confesses J.R. that she was spying on him for CLIFF, without knowing that he was giving her phony information:

"I couldn´t stand the idea of sharing with another woman, I had to punish you..."

"Tú has cambiado más en los últimos meses de lo que creía posible" - admite J.R. - "No me digas que yo no puedo hacer lo mismo." "Nada cambiará entre nosotros hasta que tú cambies" - le asegura ella. La reacción de J.R. no se hace esperar: ordena a su detective que investigue el pasado de JERRY KENDERSON, el compañero de trabajo de SUE ELLEN. Al mismo tiempo, RAY entabla amistad con un joven sordo llamado TONY. JENNA, a su vez, atraviesa una crisis emocional.

J.R. invites SUE ELLEN to go with him to the big oil conference at MARTINIQUE, but she rejects his overtures:

"Why didn't you ask MANDY?" - SUE ELLEN asks him. "She's a thing of the past. It's over with, has been for some time. It was the same for her too, I can assure you." "Same old J.R.: You still make the distinction between the women you take to bed for pleasure and the women you take to bed for business." "You've changed more in the last four or five months than I ever believed possible" - J.R. admits - "So don't tell me I can't do the same thing." "Nothing is gonna change between us until you do" - she assures. J.R.´s reaction doesn´t take long: he orders his detective to dig in the past of JERRY KENDERSON, SUE ELLEN´s workmate. At the same time, RAY starts a friendship with a young deaf boy called TONY. JENNA is going through a serious emotional crisis.

“Si esta es la nueva SUE ELLEN, no me gusta el resultado" – dice con sorna J.R. cuando ella le deja claras sus intenciones: “A mí sí, y mucho...” – responde ella. De vuelta en DALLAS, PAM se da cuenta de que debe continuar su vida y superar la muerte de BOBBY. J.R. pide a JACK, de camino al CARIBE, que se haga pasar por DIMITRI, en beneficio de la EWING OIL. Una vez allí, ANGELICA y sus secuaces preparan un diabólico plan:

"J.R. y JACK deben estar en el yate antes de que los demás lleguen al muelle. La prensa podrá fotografiarlos allí pero no podrá distinguir que no es el verdadero DIMITRI. Y entonces, DIMITRI y su buen amigo J.R. morirán en un trágico accidente..."

J.R. contacts lawyer ALEX GARRETT, who tells him to watch out for ANGELICA:

"MARINOS is not a menace to you, but I can´t say the same about ANGELICA NERO..." Even so he decides to go to MARTINIQUE with JACK.

“If this is the new SUE ELLEN, I don´t like the result" – a cynical J.R. says when she speaks out her intentions: “I do, a lot...” – she answers. Back in DALLAS, PAM realizes that she must continue her life and overcome BOBBY´s death. On their way to the CARIBBEAN, J.R. asks JACK to pose as DIMITRI, for EWING OIL's sake. Once they arrive, ANGELICA and her associates prepare an evil scheme:

"JACK and J.R. are aware that they should be on the yacht before anyone else arrives at the dock. The press can photograph them standing on the deck and even their long lenses won't be able to pick up the fact that it's not really DIMITRI. And so, DIMITRI MARINOS and his good friend J.R. EWING die in a tragic accident..."

En LA MARTINICA, J.R. se cita con ALEX GARRETT en el Baile de Máscaras. Cuando presencia la reconciliación de JACK y GRACE, ANGELICA empieza a perder la confianza en su ayudante GRACE:

"Hemos llegado demasiado lejos para que pierdas la cabeza por JACK. Estamos muy cerca de conseguir todo lo que queremos, no me des una razón para desconfiar de ti..." "He cumplido con mi trabajo" - dice ella, inquieta - "Ahora, JACK ha aceptado llevar a cabo la charada, y estaré a su lado toda la noche para segurarnos de ello." "Mañana por la noche, seremos los dueños de la naviera MARINOS. Habrá otros hombres en tu vida, muchos más. Y serán mejores para ti que JACK." Al mismo tiempo, PAM revela a JENNA sin querer que ella y BOBBY pensaban volver a casarse cuando JENNA le dice:

“No podrías comprenderlo porque yo era quien iba a casarse con BOBBY”. A lo que responde PAM: “Yo iba a casarme con él. Lo siento, JENNA, pero BOBBY dijo que tú ya lo sabías...” En el Baile, J.R. obtiene la información necesaria para comprender la estratagema que ha preparado ANGELICA. JERRY pide a SUE ELLEN que mantengan una relación más íntima. Tras el caos provocado por ANGELICA y sus secuaces, J.R. comenta a JACK:

At MARTINIQUE, J.R. makes an appointment with ALEX GARRETT at the Masquerade Ball. When ANGELICA witnesses JACK and GRACE´s reconciliation, she begins to lose the confidence on her assistant:

"We've come too far to have you lose your head over him. We're very close to having everything we want. Don't give me reason to distrust you." "I did my job" - GRACE says, nervous - "Now JACK is perfectly willing to carry out the charade. And I'll be by his side all night to make sure he does that." "Tomorrow night, we will own MARINOS Shipping and you will have everything you ever wanted. There'll be other men in your life, many of them. And they'll be far better suited to you than JACK EWING." Unwillingly PAM reveals JENNA that she and BOBBY were planning to re-marry. When JENNA tells her:

“You couldn´t possibly understand ´cause I was the one who was cheated out of marrying BOBBY”, PAM asnwers: “No, I was! I´m sorry JENNA, but BOBBY said that you knew...” At the Ball, J.R. gets the information he needs to understand the scheme that ANGELICA has set up. JERRY asks SUE ELLEN to have a closer relationship. After the chaos caused by ANGELICA and her henchmen, J.R. points out to JACK:

“I think that the masquerade is over...”

El caos irrumpe en el Baile de Máscaras cuando ANGELICA presenta a JACK como DIMITRI. Tras un maremágnum de disparos, GRACE y NICHOLAS pasan a disposición de la ley, explicando el perverso plan de ANGELICA para asesinar a "DIMITRI" en público. JACK y GRACE se separan finalmente:

"Después de todas esas mentiras, ¿cómo puedes seguir confiando en mí?" - le pregunta ella. "Me has salvado la vida" - responde JACK. "A duras penas." "No quiero marcharme sin ti." "No, JACK. Es mejor así. Nunca funcionaría nuestra relación, han pasado demasiadas cosas. El pasado siempre consigue pasarnos factura, y no quiere hacerte daño otra vez." Poco después, ANGELICA se enfrenta a ella:

"Desde que comenzó este juego, he vivido con el riesgo de ser traicionada. NICHOLAS era una posibilidad. Pero, de alguna manera, nunca pensé que serías tú. Las dos sabíamos que la recompensa sería grande si teníamos éxito. El castigo por el fracaso debería ser igual..." En DALLAS, JENNA recuerda por fin los hechos que la atormentaban y acepta que era PAM y no ella quien iba a casarse con BOBBY:

"Hasta ahora, creía que amaba a BOBBY más que nadie, y que él también me amaba a mí. Me culpaba por no haberme casado con él y dejarle morir con esa frustración. Me engañaba a mí misma. Quería casarse contigo, pero yo no podía aceptarlo. Hasta anoche, cuando volvió a mí el recuerdo de la boda de LUCY. Yo sabía que le pasaba algo y me preocupaba que se hubiera vuelto a enamorar de ti. No quería que dudara si debía casarse conmigo, así que le dejé marchar diciéndole que teníamos que ir más despacio. Él pareció aliviado y fue la última vez que hablé con él. Vivir con la verdad era demasiado doloroso para mí y fingí que aún estábamos juntos cuando murió. Era mi única forma de sobrevivir." "Ya no importa con quién iba a casarse" - le dice PAM - "Sólo lo felices que fuimos cuando estábamos con él." J.R. le hace una revelación sorprendente a SUE ELLEN:

"Me pasó algo curioso cuando estaba en MARTINICA. Havoc wreaks at the Masquerade Ball when ANGELICA introduces JACK as DIMITRI. After a maremagnum of shooting, GRACE and NICHOLAS pass to law disposition and explain ANGELICA's wicked plot to assassinate "DIMITRI" in public. JACK and GRACE eventually separate their ways:

"After all the deception, all the lies how can you still trust me?" - she asks him. "You saved my life" - JACK answers. "Barely." "I don't wanna leave without you." "No, JACK. It's better this way. It would never work out. Too much has happened. The past has a way of catching up with us. And I don't want to hurt you again." Not long after that, ANGELICA confronts her: "Ever since I started this little game I lived with the risk of betrayal. NICHOLAS was a possibility. But somehow, I just never thought it would be you. We both knew how great the reward would be if we had succeeded. The punishment for failure should be equally as great..." At DALLAS, JENNA eventually remembers the facts that were upsetting her and accepts that it was PAM and not her who was going to marry BOBBY:

"Up until now, I thought I loved Bobby more than anyone else and I thought he loved me more than anyone else. I blamed myself for not marrying him and letting him die unfulfilled. I was lying to myself. He didn't wanna marry me, he wanted to marry you. But I couldn't face it. Until last night. The memory of Lucy's wedding flooded back. I knew something was wrong. I was worried that he was falling out of love with me and back in love with you. I didn't want him doubting his choice so I set him free. I told him I thought we were rushing into things and that I suggested we slow down make sure we knew what we were doing. He was relieved. That was the last time I ever spoke to him. The truth was too painful for me to live with so I pretended we were still lovers when he died. I guess that was the only way I could survive." "It doesn't matter anymore who Bobby was going to marry" - PAM tells her - "What matters is how happy you were when you were with him and how happy I was when I was with him and how lucky we both were." J.R. makes a surprising revelation to SUE ELLEN:

"You know, a funny thing happened to me down in MARTINIQUE. While you were in the arms of Jerry Kenderson, no doubt...When Angelica pointed that gun at me, I was sure I was gonna die. And the last thing that passed through my mind was a picture of you, Sue Ellen. At that moment there was only one thing I was afraid of. The one thing I feared most was that I was gonna die and you would never know how much I love you." "I find that hard to believe" - she says. "Well, believe it or not, it's the truth." Also, PAMELA decides to sell CHRISTOPHER´s EWING OIL share to J.R., finally:

"I don't understand you" - he says bluntly. "I want out." "For a fortune?" "If it's too rich for you..." - hints an amused PAM. "No, it will just take me a little time to pull together the right financing. Why, after all this time, after all you've fought for?" The fight's just not important anymore" - she finally tells him. Once alone, while looking up to JOCK´s picture, J.R. proudly says:

“Well, dad…It took me a lot of time and work, but, finally...it´s all mine!”

La bajada del precio del crudo obliga a J.R. a cerrar los pozos más antiguos. Por su parte, JAMIE va a ver a J.R.:

"Quiero hacer un trato contigo. PAM ya no forma parte de mi vida, ella y MARK van a casarse. No hay por qué continuar con esta enemistad. Si te prometo mantener a CLIFF lejos de ti y la EWING OIL, ¿le dejarás en paz? ¿Podemos todos vivir nuestras vidas tranquilos?" "Te doy mi palabra, no daré lugar a ninguna pelea" - dice él - "Recuerda que mantendré mi palabra mientras él siga alejado de mí...pero él no lo hará." MARK amenaza a J.R cuando descubre que ha estado investigándole:

"Aléjate de PAM y de mí, y no vuelvas a interferir en mi vida, o te arrancaré la cabeza." SUE ELLEN comunica a JERRY que quiere darle a su marido otra oportunidad:

"Pensar en perderte es algo terrible para mí" - le asegura J.R. - "Estoy cambiando. Con JERRY nunca habría la electricidad que siempre ha habido entre entre nosotros. Hay una magia entre nosotros. Yo lo sé y tú también...He hecho todo lo que he podido para recuperarte. Ahora la elección es tuya: tienes que decidir cómo quieres que sea tu vida." Los KREBBS descubren que TONY había sufrido rechazos emocionales. Mientras, ANGELICA es detenida por exceso de velocidad, aunque pronto queda libre y continúa su camino...rumbo a DALLAS. MANDY pide a J.R. que vaya a verla a su apartamento y le dice:

"Hoy he visto a CLIFF. Está poniendo a su hermana y a MARK en tu contra. Sé lo importante que la EWING OIL es para ti y quería prevenirte. Una cosa más: he cambiado de opinión sobre marcharme de DALLAS. Porque aunque SUE ELLEN vuelva contigo, no tardará en volver a perderte. Y aparte del hecho de que tiene a tu hijo, ¿crees que de verdad puede competir conmigo? No pasará mucho tiempo antes de que te canses de ella otra vez. Por eso me quedo, y cuando me quieras, estaré aquí..." - asegura, mientras se queda desnuda delante de él.

Oil prices drop makes J.R. shut down the oldest wells. JAMIE calls on him:

"I wanna strike a deal with you. PAM is no longer a part of your life. She and MARK plan to be married. There's no reason to carry this feud on any longer. If I can promise to keep CLIFF away from you and EWING OIL, will you leave him alone? Can we all just go our own ways in peace?" "I give you my word, I won't go after him first" - he says - "Just remember my word is good only so long as he keeps away from me...Which he won't." MARK threatens J.R. when he discovers he´s been snooping around his past:

"You stay away from PAM and me and you stay the hell out of my life. Or I'll take that head of yours off at the shoulders." SUE ELLEN tells JERRY that she wants to give her husband another chance:

"The thought of losing you is much more terrible to me" - assures J.R. - "I'm changing my ways. With JERRY there would never be the electricity that you and I have always had between us.There's a magic between us. I know that and so do you...I've done everything in my power to win you back. So it's your choice: You have to decide what you want your life to be." The KREBBSES find out that TONY has been through emotional rejections. Meanwhile ANGELICA is arrested for speeding and carrying a gun, though she is soon released and continues on her way...straight to DALLAS. MANDY asks J.R. to come over her condo:

"I saw CLIFF at lunch today. He's getting his sister and MARK to throw in with him against you. I know how important EWING OIL is to you and I just wanted to warn you. Oh, and one more thing. I've changed my mind about leaving DALLAS. And why is that? Because even if SUE ELLEN does take you back she won't be able to hold you very long. And except for the fact that she has your son can she really compete with me? It won't be long before you get tired of her again. That's why I'm staying. And when you want me I'll be ready." - she tells him, as she gets naked in front of him.

J.R. ha conseguido que su vida sea casi perfecta: por fin, tiene el control de la EWING OIL y SUE ELLEN reconoce que existe algo especial entre ellos después de que J.R. le dé un apasionado beso nocturno:

"En el pasado no llegué a saber lo afortunado que era de tenerte por esposa y amante. No te valoraba, pero nunca volveré a hacer algo así..." A su vez, MARILEE presiona a CLIFF para que se una al cártel en su lucha contra J.R. La solicitud de adopción es denegada a causa del expediente de RAY. ANGELICA encarga a un experto en explosivos un maletín muy especial. ELLIE recibe la invitación para la boda de MARK y PAM:

"Todo está cambiando" - le confía a J.R. - "JENNA se está recuperando y empezando de nuevo. Noto una sensación de finalidad, como si BOBBY nunca hubiera estado aquí, ni siquiera su recuerdo." "Todos le echamos de menos, mamá" "Me siento como si hubiera llegado al final de mi vida y mirase atrás, a todas las cosas maravillosas que ya no están. Y también me preocupo por ti, J.R." "Eso no tiene que preocuparte. Mi vida no podría ser mejor. Soy un ganador, no lo olvides" - la tranquiliza. JACK no está de acuerdo con el hecho de que CLAYTON y RAY hayan contratado a un viejo vaquero, BEN STIVERS, para que cuide de los establos, y decide irse de DALLAS.

J.R. has made his life almost perfect: at last he has control of EWING OIL and SUE ELLEN admits that there is something special between them after J.R. kisses her passionately one night:

"In the past, I never realized how lucky I was to have you for a wife. And a lover. I took you for granted. I'll never do that again." MARILEE pressures CLIFF to join the cartel in their fight against J.R. The adoption application is denied due to RAY´s criminal record. ANGELICA orders a very special briefcase to an explosive expert. MISS ELLIE gets the invitation for MARK and PAM´s wedding:

"Everything is changing" - she confides to J.R. "JENNA's getting back on her feet. With a fresh start. But there's just such a sense of finality. It's almost as if BOBBY were never here. Not even in memory." "We all miss him." "I feel as if I were standing at the edge of my life, looking back at all the wonderful things that aren't there anymore. I worry about you too, J.R." "There's nothing for you to worry about there. My life couldn't be better. I'm a winner. Don't you forget it" - he calms her down. JACK disagrees with the fact that CLAYTON and RAY hired an old cowboy, BEN STIVERS, to take care of the ranch, and decides to leave DALLAS.

J.R. amenaza duramente a ALEX GARRETT cuando descubre que ha cerrado los pozos de la MARINOS, pues sin ellos se enfrenta a la ruina financiera. Por otro lado, descubre la verdad sobre el incidente relacionado con MARK:

"En su tercer año de carrera, él y dos compañeros de segundo llevaron a uno de los novatos al gimnasio, le vendaron los ojos, le ataron las manos a la espalda y le dijeron que le iban a tirar a la parte profunda de la piscina. Primero lo lanzaron al extremo menos hondo, pero no sabían que el chico no sabía nadar y le entró el pánico. Cuando se dieron cuenta de que algo iba mal, le sacaron pero era demasiado tarde: se había ahogado" "Por eso MARK fue expulsado..." "El fiscal iba a acusarle de homicidio involuntario. Entonces retiraron los cargos y él volvió más adelante para graduarse. El padre de MARK sobornó a alguien, tengo pruebas de que fue el ayudante del fiscal. A menos de que fuera acusado y juzgado, no existiría estatuto de limitaciones." "¿Quieres decir que aún podría llevarlo a juicio después de tantos años?" - pregunta J.R. a MacSWEEN. "Claro que sí." En el transcurso de una fiesta benéfica, SUE ELLEN comprueba que J.R. ha cambiado y decide volver a dormir con él:

"¿Te crees capaz de vivir con una sola mujer?" - le pregunta luego. "Si tú eres esa mujer, sí." - afirma sin dudar. Asimismo, le confía sus temores: "Tengo problemas con la empresa y no sé cómo solucionarlos..." - confiesa a SUE ELLEN. En la EWING OIL, discute con su banquero:

"Ese préstamo de mil millones de dólares te cuesta casi dos millones por semana." "Nadie lo sabe mejor que yo. Francamente, esperaba que me apoyases. Cuando esta pequeña crisis haya pasado, tendré en cuenta quién me ha ayudado, como siempre he hecho. Cuida de tu banco que yo cuidaré de la industria del petróleo..."

El nuevo capataz del rancho, BEN, le resulta familiar tanto a ELLIE como a PUNK ANDERSON...MANDY recibe la visita de J.R., una vez más:

"Eres una de las mujeres más bellas que he conocido. Te equivocabas en muchas cosas, pero sobre todo, sobre SUE ELLEN y yo. Ya intenté decirte una vez que todo se había acabado. Creo que lo mejor que puedes hacer es marcharte a otro lugar, donde puedas conocer a alguien que no esté enamorado de otra mujer. Te mereces algo mejor que lo que tuvimos juntos. Sólo amo y deseo a SUE ELLEN." Pero ANGELICA le está esperando en el aparcamiento subterráneo y le apunta con una pistola, diciéndole:

“Tenemos asuntos pendientes...”

J.R. angrily threatens ALEX GARRETT when he discovers that he has shut down the MARINOS wells, since he will face bankruptcy without them. He also discovers the truth about MARK´s incident:

"During his junior year, a freshman pledge was assigned to MARK and a couple of seniors. They took him to the gym, blindfolded him, tied his hands behind his back and told him they were gonna march him into the deep end of the pool. First, they dumped him into the shallow end. What they didn't know was that the kid couldn't swim and he panicked. By the time they realized something was wrong and got him out, it was too late. He drowned." "So that's why MARK was expelled from school..." "The district attorney was gonna file charges against him for involuntary manslaughter." "All of a sudden the charges were dropped, he then went back later to graduate. MARK 's father got him out of it. I got very strong evidence that an assistant district attorney was bought off. Unless he's charged and tried, there is no statute of limitations." "I could still take him to trial after all this time?" - J.R. asks MacSWEEN. "You sure could."

"I have trouble with the company and I don´t know how to work it out..." – he confesses to SUE ELLEN. "When all this is through, I´ll remember who has supported me..." During a fund-raising party, SUE ELLEN realizes that J.R. has changed and decides to sleep with him again.

"Do you think you can live with only one woman?" – she asks him later. "If you are that woman, yes." – he says without hesitation. At EWING OIL, J.R. argues with his banker:

"That billion dollar loan is costing you almost $2 million a week." "No one is more aware of that than I am. To tell the truth, I expected you to be more supportive. When this little crunch is over I'm gonna remember the people who stuck by me, as I always have in the past. You just take care of your bank, I'll take care of the oil business." The ranch´s new foreman, BEN, is a familiar face to both ELLIE as PUNK ANDERSON...MANDY gets another visit from J.R.:

"You are one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. You were wrong about a lot of things but mostly about SUE ELLEN and myself. I tried to tell you once before that it's over between you and me. I think the best thing for you to do would be to leave here and go somewhere where you might meet someone who's not in love with another woman. You deserve better than you ever got with me. I only love and want SUE ELLEN." But ANGELICA awaits J.R. at the underground park lot and points at him with a gun, as she says:

“We have some unfinished business...”

Preocupado porque su imperio pueda colapsarse, J.R. accede a hacer negocios con ANGELICA, que ha salido de su escondite para ofrecerle unos papeles que le darán poder sobre ALEX GARRETT. A punta de pistola, ANGELICA le obliga a entrar en su coche y le da una prueba de los documentos que quiere venderle.

"Dos millones de dólares es un precio muy modesto por salvar la EWING OIL..." - afirma ella con cinismo. J.R. los verifica y se siente encantado con ellos, accediendo a pagarle lo que le pide. Acuerdan encontrarse en la oficina el domingo para llevar a cabo el intercambio. MARK recuerda a PAM que su enfermedad está solo en remisión, pero ella responde:

“Lo más importante es vivir cada día plenamente y, mientras puedas hacerlo, serán los días más felices de mi vida”. PAM y MARK se casan en el jardín de la mansión de MARK. Momentos antes de la ceremonia, ELLIE le expresa a PAM todo su cariño. Los EWING y los BARNES se reúnen para el acontecimiento familiar. DONNA y RAY han adoptado finalmente a TONY. JACK se niega a reconsiderar quedarse en DALLAS, pero le promete a JAMIE que le dejará su deportivo mientras esté ausente. J.R. regala a SUE ELLEN un nuevo anillo de compromiso cuando reanudan su vida de casados. Él pospone una salida familiar el domingo por la mañana para ir al encuentro de ANGELICA en la oficina, que le hace esperar una hora. Cuando ANGELICA aparece, activa el dispositivo detonador del maletín explosivo y el tiempo empieza a correr:

“No me buscan por asesinato, sino para interrogarme”. J.R. y ANGELICA intercambian palabras llenas de rencor, durante las cuales ella promete que algún día le matará a él y a JACK. En ese momento, J.R. hace entrar a la policía, que ha escuchado la conversación y ahora puede detener a ANGELICA:

“Diles que me suelten si no quieres morir...Estúpido, tú y JACK ya estáis prácticamente muertos, eso si JACK no ha muerto ya. Es demasiado tarde, J.R. ¡Es demasiado tarde!”, grita mientras se la llevan. Preocupado, J.R. telefonea a su primo. JACK y JAMIE van a subirse a su deportivo, a punto de marcharse al aeropuerto, cuando JACK oye sonar el teléfono y vuelve atrás para contestar, dejando a JAMIE esperando en el coche. Cuando J.R. pregunta a JACK si está bien, los dos hombres oyen una explosión. El coche de JACK ha saltado por los aires y está en llamas. J.R. se marcha corriendo de la oficina en dirección de la casa de JACK. SUE ELLEN, alarmada por la tardanza de J.R., decide acercarse a la ciudad para averiguar qué ha pasado. Sabe que iba a verse con ANGELICA y tiene la sensación de que está en peligro. J.R. se marcha en un ascensor justo cuando SUE ELLEN entra en la oficina por el otro. Segundos después, el maletín explota y destruye las oficinas de la EWING OIL...

Concerned that his empire may collapse, J.R. agrees to make business with ANGELICA, who is out of her hideout to offer him some papers that will give him power over ALEX GARRETT. At gunpoint, ANGELICA makes him get into his car and, afterwards, she sends him a proof of the documents she wants to sell him.

"Two million dollars is a very low price for saving EWING OIL..." – she says in a very cynical tone. J.R. is happy to have them verified and agrees to pay her what she is asking. They set an appointment at the office next Sunday, so they can make the exchange. MARK reminds PAM that his illness is only in remission, but she answers:

“The most important thing is to live each day to the fullest and, as long as you do, they´ll be the happiest days in your life”. PAM and MARK get married at his mansion garden. Minutes before the ceremony, ELLIE expresses to PAM all her motherly love. The EWINGS and the BARNESES reunite at the family event. DONNA and RAY have finally adopted TONY. JACK refuses to re-consider to stay in DALLAS, but he promises JAMIE that he will let her his sportscar while he is away. J.R. gives SUE ELLEN a new engagement ring when they resume their married life. He postpones a family outing on Sunday morning in order to meet ANGELICA at the office, but she makes him wait for an hour. When ANGELICA shows up, she switches on the detonator timer of the explosive briefcase and time begins to run:

“I´m not wanted for murder, I´m wanted for questioning”. J.R. and ANGELICA exchange a few angry words, during which she promises that one day she will kill him and JACK. At that moment, J.R. calls the police in, after they heard everything so they can arrest ANGELICA:

“Call them off if you don´t want to die...You fool, you and JACK are both as good as dead if JACK is not dead already. It´s too late J.R. It´s too late!”, she screams as she is taken away. Worried, J.R. phones his cousin. JACK and JAMIE are about to get into his sportscar and leave to the airport, when JACK hears the phone ringing and walks back to answer, letting JAMIE waiting at the car. When J.R. asks JACK if he is o.k., both men hear a blast. JACK´s car has been blown up and set in fire. J.R. rushes out of the office heading JACK´s apartment. Upset about his being late, SUE ELLEN decides to drive to town and find out what has happened. She knows that he was going to meet ANGELICA and is feeling danger. J.R. leaves on one elevator just when SUE ELLEN enters the office from the other elevator. Seconds later, the briefcase blows out and destroys the EWING OIL offices...

(FIN DEL SUEÑO DE PAM...)

La mañana, supuestamente después de la boda, PAM se despierta al oír el agua de la ducha. Se dirige al cuarto de baño, abre la puerta de la ducha y ve a un hombre exacto a BOBBY EWING que le dice:

"Buenos días..."

The morning supposedly after her wedding, PAM wakes up after hearing the water running. She walks into the bathroom, opens the shower door and sees a man who looks exactly like BOBBY EWING, who says:

"Good morning..."
