January 29, 1982: The portrait of Jock Ewing (Jim Davis) was seen by first time hanging on the Ewing office wall. This was the best way to tribute the late actor, who had died of cancer the previous year, thus making his character an eternal presence until the very end of the show. Also in this episode, J.R. finally recovered from his depression and promised to keep fighting and make the company bigger for his son John Ross, currently the main star on the TNT "Dallas". Funnily enough, Jock´s portrait couldn´t be used by the new show´s creators because Jim Davis´ family refused to give their ok. Instead, we had that awful photoshopped frame of Miss Ellie and Jock, excerpted from the episode "Wheeler Dealer". In the video below, you can see the first visit of Josh Henderson, I mean, John Ross Ewing III, to the Ewing Oil offices. Where is Jock´s portrait now? Actually, Larry Hagman took it home when the show ended and sold it out recently, probably to one of the show´s biggest fans (not me).

21 de octubre de 1984 (en Cataluña): Veíamos por 1ª vez el retrato de Jock Ewing (Jim Davis) colgado en la pared de la oficina de los Ewing. Fue el mejor homenaje que pudieron hacer al desaparecido actor, que había fallecido de cáncer el año anterior, convirtiendo a su personaje en omnipresente hasta el mismo final de la serie. También en este episodio, J.R. por fin se recuperaba de su depresión y prometía seguir luchando para hacer más poderosa la compañía para su hijo John Ross, en la actualidad el principal protagonista de la nueva "Dallas". Curiosamente, el retrato de Jock no ha podido utilizarse en la continuación porque la familia de Jim Davis se ha negado a dar su autorización. En su lugar, vemos ese fotograma pasado por el Photoshop de Ellie y Jock, extraído del episodio "Maquiavelismo". En el vídeo podéis recordar la 1ª visita de Josh Henderson, quiero decir, de John Ross Ewing III, a las oficinas de la Ewing Oil. ¿Dónde está hoy el retrato de Jock? En realidad, Larry Hagman se lo llevó a casa cuando terminó la serie y lo vendió no hace mucho, seguramente a alguno de sus mayores fans (no a mí...).
