Por su parte, TIMOTHY PATRICK MURPHY interviene sólo en 6 episodios, y a partir del Episodio 3 se incorpora CHRISTOPHER ATKINS como PETER RICHARDS, en calidad de “Special Guest Star”. PRISCILLA PRESLEY, acreditada más adelante con el apellido BEAULIEU, entrará en escena en el Episodio 7.

1/132: "THE ROAD BACK” ("EL CAMINO DE VUELTA")

BOBBY encuentra su hogar envuelto en llamas. Gracias a su rapidez de reflejos, salva la vida de J.R., SUE ELLEN, RAY y JOHN ROSS, aunque el rancho tardará una semana en reconstruirse. CLAYTON telefonea a la mañana siguiente para informarse de lo ocurrido y comunica a DONNA que él y ELLIE se quedarán una temporada en la reserva de TAKAPA, hasta que ella se recupere de su depresión. Mientras, BOBBY y J.R. acuerdan volver a dirigir juntos la EWING OIL pero, cuando recibe la visita de KATHERINE, J.R. insinúa lo contrario. Además, la anima en su intento de atraer a BOBBY:
“Pídeme lo que quieras si puedo ayudarte, me encantaría que fueras mi cuñada...” J.R. y SUE ELLEN se alojan en un hotel con el niño, que parece sufrir algún tipo de trauma debido al incendio. Cuando PAM lleva a su amiga de compras, SUE ELLEN vuelve a beber en una “boutique”. J.R. le echa la culpa a PAM, y acaba revelando que el culpable del accidente fue su ex socio DRISCOLL. SUE ELLEN se siente aliviada y le reprocha duramente a J.R. haberle hecho creer que ella arruinó la vida de MICKEY...Los tres hermanos EWING se citan en la orilla del río que atraviesa SOUTHFORK.
“Tú y BOBBY le jugásteis una mala pasada a DRISCOLL, sacásteis el dinero del maletín y le colocásteis armas, y acabó en la cárcel. Ninguno de nosotros tiene las manos limpias...” - sentencia J.R. CLIFF queda deslumbrado por el tren de vida de MARK GRAISON, "jet" incluido, e insiste en que el matrimonio de PAM no tiene salvación...En el Club de los Petroleros, CLAYTON informa a los EWING de que cualquier contacto con ELLIE deberá hacerse a través suyo, y J.R. piensa que CLAYTON desea ganarse así a la matriarca. “Me importa un rábano si te gusta o no, así es como se hará...” – dice el anciano. PAM comunica a MARK que, a causa del incendio, ha decidido posponer su divorcio y darle un poco más de tiempo a BOBBY. De repente, MICKEY sale del coma para alegría de LUCY y la tía LIL.Esa noche, reunidos con el abogado HARV, J.R. y BOBBY ven cómo su reconciliación se queda en nada:
“Esta lucha tenía un año de plazo y el plazo termina dentro de un mes. Entonces, uno de los dos ganará el 51% de la EWING OIL...”
BOBBY finds his home set in flames. Thanks to his quick reflexes, he saves the lives of J.R., SUE ELLEN, RAY and JOHN ROSS, although the ranch will last one week to be re-built. CLAYTON phones the morning after to get some information about it and tells DONNA that he and ELLIE will stay at the TAKAPA Resort for awhile until she gets over her depression. Meanwhile, BOBBY and J.R. agree to run EWING OIL together again but, when the latter receives the visit of KATHERINE, J.R. hints the opposite. He also encourages her into luring BOBBY:
“Ask me whatever you want if I can help you, I´d just love you to be my sister-in-law...” J.R. and SUE ELLEN stay in a hotel along with the child, who seems to be suffering some sort of trauma due to the fire. When PAM takes her friend out shopping, SUE ELLEN drinks again in a boutique:
“Pam don´t be a nag, what else have I got but JR's money and I'm going to sit right here and see how much I can spend". J.R. puts the blame on PAM and eventually reveals that the accident´s guilty was his former partner DRISCOLL. SUE ELLEN feels relieved and reproaches hardly to J.R. for making him think she had ruined MICKEY´s life on her own...The three EWING brothers meet at the border of the river that crosses SOUTHFORK:
“You and BOBBY played a dirty trick on DRISCOLL, you took the money out of his brief and put guns in it, and he ended up in prison. None of us has clean hands...” - sentences J.R. CLIFF is bedazzled to see MARK GRAISON´s lifestyle, jet and all, and insists on the fact that PAM´s marriage is hopeless...At Oil Barons´ Club, CLAYTON tells the EWINGS that any contact with MISS ELLIE should be done through himself, and J.R. thinks that CLAYTON wants to win the matriarch that way.
“I don´t give a damn if you like it or not, it will be done this way...” – says the old man. PAM confides MARK that, because of the fire, she has decided to postpone her divorce and give a little more time to BOBBY. Suddenly, MICKEY gets out of the coma to LUCY´s and Aunt LIL´s joy. That evening, at a meeting with lawyer HARV, J.R. and BOBBY see how their reconciliation becomes nothing:
“The contest had a year to run. That year is up a month from now. At that time, one of you will own 51% of EWING OIL...”

2/133: "THE LONG GOOD-BYE” ("EL LARGO ADIÓS")

SOUTHFORK comienza a ser reconstruido tras el incendio...y las relaciones de los EWING se recomponen después de los últimos acontecimientos:
“De ahora en adelante, J.R., dormiremos en habitaciones separadas y llevaremos vidas separadas...” BOBBY pide a PAM que vuelva y la invita a cenar, lo que pone de mal humor a KATHERINE y CLIFF...Este último está obsesionado con la idea de formar un consorcio junto a su hermana y MARK. Por su lado, CLAYTON pide a BOBBY que se quede en el rancho hasta que ELLIE se recupere del todo y regrese.
“¿Dejarías a tu madre aquí, en las tiernas manos de J.R.?” – inquiere CLAYTON. “¿Debería olvidar mi matrimonio para proteger a mamá de mi hermano...?” – pregunta a su vez BOBBY. J.R. visita a PAM y la amenaza con hundir a BOBBY y CLIFF si no sigue adelante con el divorcio:
"Si vuelves con BOBBY, se armará una buena. Romperé la tregua que hemos acordado y acabaremos en una pelea de perros que hará que todo lo que has visto parezca una historia de amor. Y en cuanto a CLIFF, le destruiré usando hasta el último dólar que tiene la EWING OIL, si hace falta. De una vez para siempre, acabaré con el Sr. CLIFF BARNES, y con todos los que le apoyen...”
SOUTHFORK starts to be rebuilt after the fire...and the EWINGS´ relationships are recovering after the latter events:
“From now on, J.R., it´s separate rooms and separate lives...” BOBBY asks PAM to come back and invites her to dinner, which upsets KATHERINE and CLIFF...CLIFF is obsessed with the idea of creating a consortium with his sister and MARK. At the same time, CLAYTON asks BOBBY to stay at the ranch until MISS ELLIE gets well and returns.
“Would you leave your mother here, in J.R.´s tender hands?” – enquires CLAYTON. “Should I forget my marriage to protect mama from my brother...?” – responds BOBBY. J.R. calls on PAM and warns her he will sink BOBBY and CLIFF if she doesn´t resume her divorce proceeds:
"If you return to BOBBY, all hell will break loose. I'll call off the truce that exists between us. We'll end up in a dogfight that will make everything you've seen before look like a love match. And as for CLIFF, whatever it takes, using every penny that EWING OIL has, I will destroy him. Once and for all I will put an end to Mr. CLIFF BARNES, and whoever else goes down with him, so be it..."

3/134: "THE LETTER” ("LA CARTA")

J.R. y KATHERINE conspiran contra BOBBY y PAM en un plan definitivo para destruír su matrimonio. SUE ELLEN está convencida de que JOHN ROSS necesita ayuda y consulta a una psicóloga, que les recomienda que lo lleven a un campamento de verano. Allí conocen a PETER RICHARDS, instructor del mismo. DONNA está preocupada a causa del obsesivo complejo de culpabilidad que tiene RAY respecto a MICKEY. KATHERINE muestra a BOBBY una carta escrita supuestamente por PAM, en la que comunica a su abogado que desea seguir casada para no herir a su marido...
“Seis años de matrimonio no pueden olvidarse fácilmente - continúa la carta - Sería más feliz si BOBBY me dejara marchar, pero si no es así, quizá tendré que volver con él. Su felicidad debería ser para mí tan preciada como la mía...”
BOBBY concierta una cita con PAM en la Plaza de Acción de Gracias, y la sorprende diciéndole:
“Te dejo marchar, porque esto no es justo para ninguno de los dos: es hora de admitir que todo ha terminado...”
J.R. and KATHERINE are plotting against BOBBY and PAM in an ultimate plan to destroy their marriage. SUE ELLEN is convinced that JOHN ROSS needs help and consults a psychiatrist, who advises them to take him to a summer camp. There they will meet counselor PETER RICHARDS. DONNA is worried about RAY´s obsessive guilt complex about MICKEY. KATHERINE shows BOBBY a letter supposedly written by PAM, in which she tells her lawyer that she wants to remain married in order to avoid causing his husband pain...
“Six years of marriage cannot easily be dismissed – continues the letter – I know I would be better off if BOBBY just let me go, but if he doesn´t, I may have to give in and return to him. His happiness should be as important to me as my own...” BOBBY makes an appointment with PAM at Thanksgiving Square, and to her surprise, he tells her:
“I´m letting you go. It´s not fair to either of us like this. It´s for the best. I think it's time we both finally realized it´s over...”

J.R. y KATHERINE sonríen entre dientes al ver cómo llega a su fin el matrimonio de BOBBY y PAM. SUE ELLEN lleva a su hijo al campamento y allí le surge un admirador, PETER. Por otro lado, J.R. pone en marcha un plan definitivo para alejar a BOBBY de la EWING OIL. Mientras, LUCY no quiere separarse de MICKEY ni un momento y, cuando él le pide el matrimonio, su futuro aparece más esperanzador. J.R. y CLIFF no dejan solos a sus respectivos hermanos para evitar una posible reconciliación. Por fin, el matrimonio de BOBBY y PAM se disuelve legalmente...
J.R.´s and KATHERINE´s secret rejoice is enormous when they know about the end of BOBBY´s and PAM´s marriage. SUE ELLEN takes her son to the camp and she finds a fan there, PETER. On the other side, J.R. starts a final scheme to keep BOBBY away from EWING OIL. In the meantime, LUCY doesn´t want to leave MICKEY alone for a minute and, when he asks her to marry him, his future seems to be more hopeful. J.R. and CLIFF don´t leave their brother and sister alone to avoid any possible reconciliation. Finally, the marriage of BOBBY and PAM comes to an end legally...

Días antes de la firma del acuerdo final, BOBBY sabe que sólo un milagro puede hacer que gana la batalla por la EWING OIL. Mientras espera el resultado, se encuentra de nuevo con HOLLY HARWOOD, lo cual provoca los celos de KATHERINE. Por su parte, CLIFF consigue introducir una espía en la oficina EWING, la secretaria SLY, mientras PAM se va a vivir a la mansión de su madre y anuncia que comenzará a trabajar con CLIFF en la Barnes-Wentworth. J.R. sospecha que PETER está enamorado de SUE ELLEN. En el hospital, MICKEY sufre una recaída y vuelve al coma. Poco después, muere al ser desconectado su sistema de ayuda vital...
A few days prior to the signature of the final agreement, BOBBY knows that only a miracle can make him win the battle for EWING OIL. As he waits for the results, he meets HOLLY HARWOOD again, which arouses KATHERINE´s jealousy. Meanwhile, CLIFF gets a spy into the EWING offices, secretary SLY, as PAM moves to her mother´s house and announces that she will begin to work with CLIFF at Barnes-Wentworth. J.R. suspects that PETER is in love with SUE ELLEN. At the hospital, MICKEY suffers cardiac arrest and then falls into a second coma. Not long after that, he dies when his life-support system is unplugged...

6/137: "CHECK AND MATE” ("JAQUE MATE")

J.R. y BOBBY tienen preparados los libros para presentar a la auditoría que decidirá quién se quedará con la empresa familiar. Mientras esperan el resultado de la misma, RAY es encarcelado y DONNA pide a PAUL MORGAN, un abogado que trabajó con SAM CULVER, que se haga cargo de su defensa. J.R. informa a KATHERINE sobre sus verdaderas intenciones mientras sigue manipulando sus acciones:
"Tú y BOBBY seréis muy felices juntos, en algún lugar lejos de aquí. Y el viejo J.R. por fin tendrá la empresa de su padre para él solo."
Pero J.R. se lleva una gran sorpresa cuando, en el último minuto, llega el dinero del negocio canadiense y BOBBY resulta ganador. No obstante, cumpliendo la última voluntad de JOCK en una carta póstuma, los hermanos acuerdan compartir la EWING OIL:
“J.R., BOBBY: Hacedlo sin mí, por el bien de vuestra madre y por el mío, y dirigid esa empresa como hermanos...”
J.R. and BOBBY have their books ready for the audit deciding who will own the family company. As they wait for results, RAY is jailed and DONNA begs PAUL MORGAN, an attorney who worked with SAM CULVER, to take care of his defense. J.R. reports KATHERINE about his true intentions while he keeps manipulating her actions:
"You and Bobby are going to be real happy together—someplace far from here. And old J.R. is finally going to have his daddy's company all to himself..." But J.R. gets a big surprise when, at the very last minute, the Canadian deal´s money arrives and that makes BOBBY the winner. However, following JOCK´s last will in a posthumous letter, the two brothers agree to share EWING OIL:
“J.R., BOBBY: Do it without me, for your Mama´s sake and mine, and run that company like brothers...”

Los EWING y los BARNES intentan reparar inútilmente el daño que se han hecho. BOBBY se queda boquiabierto cuando se encuentra con JENNA WADE, que ahora trabaja de camarera, olvidándose por completo de su cita con KATHERINE. Por otro lado, SUE ELLEN se siente incómoda con PETER y PAM se queda desconcertada al enterarse de que BOBBY vuelve a salir con JENNA. Mientras, J.R. intenta convencer a SUE ELLEN para que se eche atrás en su decisión de llevar una vida separada...y dormir en camas separadas. RAY es juzgado finalmente por la misteriosa muerte de MICKEY, pero trata de impedir que su tía LIL salga a declarar...
The EWINGS and the BARNESES unsuccessfully try to repair the damage they have made to each other. BOBBY is open-mouthed when he bumps into JENNA WADE, who is now waiting on tables, and forgets a date with KATHERINE. Meanwhile, SUE ELLEN feels uncomfortable with PETER and PAM gets speechless to know that BOBBY is dating JENNA again. On the other side, J.R. tries to convince SUE ELLEN to back out in her decision to have a separate life...and sleep in separate beds. Eventually, RAY is tried for MICKEY's mysterious death but tries to stop his Aunt LIL from going to the stand...

La verdad sobre la muerte de MICKEY se revela de pronto cuando LIL TROTTER sube a declarar y explica que ella rogó a su sobrino que ayudara a MICKEY a morir con dignidad. RAY es condenado a cinco años de prisión, que son conmutados por el juez. Más tarde, SUE ELLEN hace una visita nocturna a J.R. para satisfacer sus necesidades:
"Que me cuelguen si puedes entrar aquí cuando quieras y usarme como si fuera un servicio de semental..." "¿Para qué otra cosa me podrías servir? Buenas noches" - dice divertida SUE ELLEN al marcharse. En el Baile de los Petroleros, se crea una gran tensión cuando se encuentran los EWING y los BARNES. J.R. está muy contento de ver a BOBBY y PAM separados y cada uno con su pareja. Lo que no le gusta tanto es que CLIFF sea nombrado Petrolero del Año...ni su amenaza a J.R.:
“Abróchate el cinturón, porque estoy a punto de contarle a todo el mundo la verdadera historia del gran JOCK EWING y DIGGER BARNES...”
The truth about MICKEY´s death is suddenly revealed when LIL TROTTER is called to the stand and explains that she begged her nephew to help MICKEY to die with dignity. RAY is sentenced to five years of imprisonment, which are suspended by the judge. Later on, SUE ELLEN pays a night visit on J.R. to meet her needs:
"I'll be damned if you can come in here any time you want and use me like some stud-service!" "What other possible use could I have for you? Good night" - says a rejoicing SUE ELLEN as she leaves. At the Oil Barons´ Ball, sparks fly when EWINGS and BARNESES meet. J.R. is very happy to see BOBBY and PAM separate and each with his/her date. What he doesn´t like so much is CLIFF being named Oil Man of the Year...nor his threat to J.R.:
“Fasten your seat belt ´cause I'm about to tell the whole world the true story about the great JOCK EWING and DIGGER BARNES...”

CLIFF exaspera a los EWING porque difama la memoria de JOCK en su discurso de Petrolero del Año, añadiendo además sarcásticas bromas contra J.R. Pero él contraataca:
“El beneficiario adecuado de la beca en memoria de DIGGER BARNES no es una universidad, sino el bar de la esquina...” El Baile de los Petroleros acaba de forma espectacular: J.R., BOBBY y compañía hacen volar las sobras del banquete y todo lo que encuentran. Por su parte, KATHERINE se enfurece al comprobar que BOBBY ha desaparecido del baile con JENNA. Días después, revela a BOBBY sus sentimientos, y él contesta:
“Eres la hermana de PAMELA, no puedo verte como nada más...” Dispuesta a vengarse de su rival, KATHERINE pide a J.R. que le ayude a deshacerse de JENNA. Entretanto, SUE ELLEN descubre que PETER se ha enamorado de ella.
CLIFF gets the EWINGS angry because he slanders JOCK´s memory in his speech as the Oil Man of the Year, also adding sarcastic jokes about J.R. But he strikes back:
“The proper recipient of the DIGGER BARNES Memorial scholarship is not a university, but a neighborhood bar...” The Oil Barons´ Ball ends in a spectacular fashion: J.R., BOBBY and company start a big fight that puts the place upside down. KATHERINE herself gets mad to know that BOBBY has disappeared from the ball along with JENNA. A few days after, she reveals her feelings to BOBBY, but he answers:
“You´re PAMELA's sister…I cannot see you as anything else...” Determined to revenge on her rival, KATHERINE asks J.R. to help her to get rid of JENNA. Meanwhile, SUE ELLEN discovers that PETER has fallen in love with her.

En el transcurso del Rodeo de la Caridad se ponen de manifiesto las mejores cualidades del clan EWING a caballo, pero dejando al descubierto la gravedad de sus respectivas crisis emocionales. DONNA y RAY vuelven de su viaje a N.Y. a tiempo para participar en el rodeo. Por otro lado, las relaciones entre BOBBY y PAM se agrían a causa de JENNA, quien a su vez recibe una visita de KATHERINE, que intenta sobornarla y alejarla de BOBBY:
”No pienso casarme con él ni tampoco mudarme a Houston – le responde ella – Si tu hermana aún está enamorada de BOBBY, no creo que sea yo la única que deba preocuparla...” J.R. se ofende por el interés que se demuestran PETER y SUE ELLEN:
“Tú y ese monitor seguís con lo vuestro para que todo el campamento y tu hijo lo puedan ver.” Ella le amenaza con dejarle si hace daño al joven...En el rodeo, MARK es derrotado por BOBBY y RAY es quien obtiene la puntuación más alta. PAM, a pesar de tener a su ex marido y a MARK pendientes de ella, hace las paces con este último e inician por fin una relación completa, dejando atrás el pasado.
During the Charity Rodeo, the best riding abilities of the EWING clan are shown off but exposing the seriousness of their respective emotional crisis. DONNA and RAY come back from N.Y. on time to ride on the rodeo. At the same time, the relationship between BOBBY and PAM gets sour due to JENNA, who receives the visit of KATHERINE, trying to bribe her away from BOBBY:
"I don’t have any plans to marry him, and I don’t have any plans to move to Houston – she answers - If your sister is still in love with BOBBY, I don’t think I’m the only one she has to worry about...” J.R. is offended by the mutual interest between PETER and SUE ELLEN:
“You were carrying on with that counselor so the whole camp and your son could see it.” She threatens him with a divorce if he hurts the young man...At the rodeo, MARK is defeated by BOBBY and RAY is the one with the highest ranking. PAM, in spite of having her ex-husband and MARK keeping an eye on her, she makes up with the latter and they eventually begin a full relationship, leaving the past behind.

When CLAYTON announces his upcoming marriage to MISS ELLIE, there are very different reactions but, undoubtedly, the angriest one is J.R. His fury increases as her mother is gifted the engagement ring and he is determined to stop the wedding, therefore snooping into CLAYTON´s past:
”When are you gonna get it through that thick skull of yours that I love your mother and all I want is a chance to make her happy?” – he yells in fury – And I'm gonna have that chance, whether you like it or NOT. I was a fool to fall for that line of yours. You´re as devious as you ever were!” BOBBY buys a boutique for JENNA that she rejects at first, but she will end up accepting it while he just lends him the money to be returned in monthly payments. In the meantime, PETER quits the college and leases an apartment to meet SUE ELLEN...

SUE ELLEN must fight her own feelings to try to talk PETER out of risking his future being with her. ELLIE keeps wondering if she should marry CLAYTON so J.R. feels happy about this event´s turn. BOBBY´s & JENNA´s affair has a devastating effect on PAM. CLAYTON doesn´t understand ELLIE´s decisión and shows up at the ranch a little drunk to discuss the matter. But J.R. appears and forbids him to trespass into the house, armed with a gun...
“I´ve had a mastectomy. The doctor found cancer...they cut off my breast... – ELLIE confesses at last – It affects the way I feel about myself so I know it will be harder on you...”

J.R. tiene que disimular su enfado cuando ELLIE y CLAYTON superan su crisis sentimental y deciden casarse; además, no duda en utilizar a SUE ELLEN para obtener información acerca del pasado de CLAYTON. Mientras, la separación de BOBBY y PAM se hace cada vez más ostensible. Por otro lado, DONNA y RAY encuentran a RANDOLPH inconsciente, a causa de un exceso de alcohol y barbitúricos, y acusan a J.R. de haberle inducido al suicidio. MARK, a su vez, acabará pidiéndole a PAM que se case con él. J.R. descubre que el incendio en que murió la esposa de CLAYTON pudo haberlo provocado él mismo. Además, va a ver a RANDOLPH al hospital:
“Habría entregado tu historia a los periódicos antes de que tu cadáver se hubiera enfriado en la tumba – asegura J.R. “Tú no eres un ser humano, ¡eres escoria...!” – responde él. “Ah, por cierto, no vuelvas a mencionar mi nombre a DONNA, o lamentarás de verdad no haber muerto hoy...”
J.R. must disguise his anger when ELLIE and CLAYTON overcome their sentimental crisis and decide to get married; besides, he doesn´t hesitate to use SUE ELLEN in order to get information about CLAYTON´s past. Meanwhile, BOBBY´s and PAM´s separation becomes more and more obvious. On the other side, DONNA and RAY find RANDOLPH unconscious, due to an overdose of alcohol and barbiturates, and accuse J.R. of having induced him to suicide. MARK will eventually ask PAM to marry him. J.R. finds out that the fire that ended with CLAYTON´s wife´s death might have been caused by the man himself. Also, he calls on RANDOLPH at the hospital:
“I´d break your story to the newspapers before you were even cold in the ground – assures J.R. “You are not a human being, you´re scum...!” – he answers. “Oh, by the way, don´t you ever mention my name to DONNA again, or you´ll really regret that you didn´t die today...”

PETER is amazed to know that J.R. and SUE ELLEN don´t sep together anymore, in spite of the appearances. MARILEE STONE agrees to associate with CLIFF, whenever the other members of the Cartel don´t know about it. On the other hand, BOBBY tries to get CLAYTON to participate in the family business. He offers him a partnership on the new offshore drillings with him and J.R. The latter keeps tormenting KATHERINE. SUE ELLEN, who had consented to represent the role of the loving wife during a party, has a minor car accident that knocks her out. J.R. remains by her side and also visiting her are LUCY and PETER...

Mientras, KATHERINE paga a RENALDO MARCHETTA para que le confirme las sospechas que tiene sobre la identidad del padre de CHARLIE:
“Lo sabía. Sabía que, si le encontraba, tendría la respuesta...” También MARK presiona a PAM para que le diga de una vez por todas si está dispuesta a casarse con él. Entretanto, PETER se queda boquiabierto cuando descubre que el niño también pudo ser de J.R. A la vista de los últimos acontecimientos, SUE ELLEN convence a PETER de que deben dar por terminadas sus relaciones para siempre...
"¿Esperas que deje Southfork y a J.R. por ti? ¿Para educar a un hijo y vivir aquí contigo” – le dice ella, para añadir luego: “El embarazo fue un error y también nuestra relación. Sal de mi vida, Peter...”
After SUE ELLEN´s accident, both J.R. and PETER believe they are the father of the baby she has lost. BOBBY himself has more and more doubts about CHARLIE´s paternity and realizes that the whole matter depends on him and JENNA. Meanwhile, KATHERINE pays RENALDO MARCHETTA to confirm her the suspicions she has about CHARLIE´s father´s identity:
“I knew it! I knew if I found you, you´d have the answer...” MARK is pressuring PAM too in order to know at once and for all if she is willing to marry him. Meanwhile, PETER is open-mouthed to find out that the baby could have been J.R.´s too. Before the latest events, SUE ELLEN persuades PETER to end their relationship forever...
"You expect me to leave Southfork, J.R., for you? To raise a child and live here with you?" – she says and then adds: “The pregnancy was a mistake, our relationship was a mistake. You just stay out of my life...”

RAY y DONNA se trasladan a MARYLAND, donde averiguan los motivos que tiene EDGAR para ceder al chantaje de J.R.: en su adolescencia, padeció una grave crisis que le llevó a someterse a tratamiento psiquiátrico, después de intentar violar a una niña. J.R. sigue sonsacando a EDGAR:
"No sé cómo te soportas a ti mismo” - dice a J.R. “No es difícil, verás: una vez dejas de lado la integridad, el resto es pan comido." MARILEE, por su parte, acaba cediendo a las presiones de J.R. y decide no asociarse con CLIFF. Al mismo tiempo, KATHERINE consigue enfrentar a NALDO con JENNA y BOBBY.
“¿De verdad no sabe qué clase de víbora es?” – le pregunta el italiano. “Hago lo que debo para conseguir lo que quiero” – responde ella. Pero los resultados de esta maniobra no la satisfacen y, sobre todo, no se ajustan a las predicciones de NALDO: cuando JENNA confiesa que este es el padre de CHARLIE y explica a BOBBY los motivos de su actuación, él se siente engañado por la joven...
RAY and DONNA drive to MARYLAND, where they find out the EDGAR´s reasons to give in to J.R.´s blackmail: when he was a teenager, he suffered a serious crisis that led him to undergo a psychiatric treatment, after trying to rape a young girl. J.R. keeps pressuring EDGAR:
"I don't know how you can live with yourself…” – he says to J.R. “Oh, it's not hard, you'll see. Once you give up integrity, the rest is a piece of cake." Also, MARILEE eventually gives in to J.R.´s pressure and decides not to associate with CLIFF. At the same time, KATHERINE makes NALDO confront JENNA and BOBBY.
"You really don't know what kind of a viper you are?” – the Italian man asks her. “I do what I have to do to get what I want" – she answers. But she is not happy about the results of her scheme and, especially, because they don´t fit in NALDO´s predictions: when JENNA confesses that the latter is CHARLIE´s father and tells BOBBY why she acted that way, he feels cheated by the woman...

Tanto CLIFF como J.R. se apuntan un tanto a su favor cuando el primero consigue el permiso de explotación de la zona marítima en la subasta. En el Club de los Petroleros, ambos se enzarzan en una discusión:
“Barnes, eres tan tonto como lo era tu padre. Vas a llevar la empresa de tu made a la bancarrota y acabarás como tu padre, un borracho y un don nadie." A lo que contesta CLIFF: “Cuando encuentre petróleo, compraré la EWING OIL y la volveré a vender...” RANDOLPH confiesa a RAY y DONNA que fue él quien facilitó información a J.R. Por ello no se explica por qué no utilizó todas sus cartas para conseguir los arrendamientos. Por otro lado, CLAYTON está preocupado porque ELLIE piensa invitar a la boda a su hermana JESSICA. Cuando PAM afirma que estaría dispuesta a volver con BOBBY si JENNA no estuviera por medio, KATHERINE comprende que ha de ser aún más lista. Mientras tanto, J.R. intercepta una conversación entre SUE ELLEN y PETER, que pone al descubierto su relación...
Both CLIFF and J.R. score a win when the first man gets the offshore drilling license at the auction. At Oil Barons´ Club, they get entangled in an argument:
“Barnes, you're as dumb as your daddy used to be...You're gonna bankrupt your momma's company and wind up just like your daddy, a drunk and a bum." To which CLIFF responds: “When I hit, I'm gonna buy and sell EWING OIL...!” RANDOLPH confides RAY and DONNA that he was the one who gave information to J.R. That´s why he cannot understand why he didn´t use all his cards to get the leases. On the other side, CLAYTON is concerned because ELLIE is going to invite his sister JESSICA to their wedding. When PAM says that she would consider going back with BOBBY if JENNA weren't in the middle, KATHERINE knows that she must be smarter. Meanwhile, J.R. intercepts a talk between SUE ELLEN and PETER, thus discovering their affair...

J.R. plots a scheme to take CLIFF to an untenable financial situation: BARNES knows that he has to make 260 million to get a profit of the oil platform; in spite of AFTON´s objections, CLIFF turns to VAUGHN LELAND to get a huge loan, unaware that LELAND and J.R. are plotting against him...Also, J.R. makes KATHERINE think that she still chances to marry BOBBY:
“Do your best because if your best isn´t enough, I´ll play BOBBY that tape. And he´ll never look at you again...” Also, J.R. hires PETER as his son´s swimming instructor, and a private detective too. Finally, PAM, after deciding not to marry MARK, is shocked to learn that he suffers a form of leukemia that will end his life in a few months..."MARK´s going to need all the love you can give him in the next few months..." – confides JERRY KENDERSON, his doctor friend.
“Are you telling me that MARK is going to die?” – she asks, alarmed. “I'm so sorry”, he says, looking overwhelmed.

PAM convence al médico de MARK para que guarde en secreto su enfermedad, hasta que se haya celebrado la boda. Mientras, BOBBY, que finalmente ha aprobado el matrimonio, ve cómo el mundo se le viene encima cuando JENNA le dice que no le esperará siempre. Por su parte, PAM piensa que su unión con MARK la alejará definitivamente de BOBBY, mientras CLAYTON no puede evitar sentirse inquieto ante la presencia de JESSICA:
“Perdimos nuestro hogar, SOUTHERN CROSS, en aquel infierno donde murió la pobre AMY. Parte de nuestro pasado se queda siempre con nosotros...” J.R. y JESSICA han formado una extraña alianza: los dos piensan lo mismo del matrimonio de ELLIE, a pesar de que hacen creer a los demás que serán muy felices cuando CLAYTON pase a formar parte de la familia.

PAM convinces MARK´s doctor to keep his illness secret until the wedding had happened. Meanwhile, BOBBY, who eventually approved their marriage, sees his world fallen apart when JENNA says that she won´t wait for him all her life. PAM herself thinks that her union to MARK will make her lose BOBBY forever, as CLAYTON cannot help feeling uncalm in front of JESSICA:
“We lost our home at SOUTHERN CROSS in a fire...Poor AMY died in that fire...Some of our past is always with us, CLAYTON...” J.R. and JESSICA have formed a strange alliance: both of them think along about ELLIE´s wedding, although they make everyone believe they´ll be very happy when CLAYTON becomes a family member.
"I'm beginning to think we feel the same way about many things...” – JESSICA hints. “Wouldn't it be awful if something happened and it didn't come off? But on the other hand, what could possibly go wrong?" "I don't know. What could?" – she asks. "Almost anything." – J.R. sentences…

“Tengo un curioso presentimiento con esa mujer. Contrariamente a lo que tu hermano dice a todo el mundo, no me creo ni por un segundo que él quiera que esta boda se celebre...” J.R. aprovecha una borrachera de LUCY para hacer creer a esta que SUE ELLEN y PETER son amantes. “¿Cuánto tiempo hace que tenéis una aventura?” - les pregunta delante de un J.R. que defiende hipócritamente a su mujer...Más tarde, J.R. y JESSICA conspiran para saborear el matrimonio de ELLIE y CLAYTON:
“¿Estamos pensando lo mismo?” - le pregunta él. “Lo dudo”, responde JESSICA una vez a solas.
PAM wants to marry MARK as soon as possible, but he prefers a big ceremony with all his friends present. On the other hand, J.R. wants to get some fields owned by WENTWORTH, but KATHERINE offers to BOBBY the buying choice. In the meantime, DONNA begins to feel suspicious about JESSICA:
“I just have this funny feeling about that woman. Contrary to what your brother is telling everybody, I don't believe for one second that he wants this wedding to take place...” J.R. takes advantage of a drunk LUCY to make her believe that SUE ELLEN and PETER are lovers. Such as he expected, the young woman ends up accusing the couple of being romantically involved:
“How long have you two been having this little affair?” – she asks them in front of a J.R. who, hypocritically, jumps to his wife´s defense...Later in the evening, J.R. and JESSICA scheme to sabotage ELLIE´s and CLAYTON´s wedding:
“Are we thinking along the same lines?” – he asks her. “I doubt it”, replies JESSICA once alone.

KATHERINE asegura que le matará. Además, J.R. le dice a McSWEEN:
“Estoy harto de las tonterías de ese PETER RICHARDS. Es hora de lanzarle la bomba.” Poco después, PETER es arrestado cuando la policía encuentra cocaína en su coche...
JESSICA tries to talk J.R. out of using her brother´s past to stop the wedding. CLAYTON will unsuccessfully try to end this conspiration.
”You don't think I´d be fool enough to tell JR our little secret, CLAYTON?” On the other hand, PAM is planning a wedding in style. J.R., angry with KATHERINE because she has sold out to his brother the WENTWORTH fields, gets even on her: he makes her believe that BOBBY has listened to the tape he has been using to blackmail her. KATHERINE claims that she will kill him. Besides, J.R. tells McSWEEN:
“I'm tired of foolin' around with this PETER. It's time to lower the boom on him…” Not long after that, PETER is arrested when the police find cocaine in his jeep...

CLAYTON presiona a ELLIE para casarse antes de que J.R. y JESSICA puedan interferir. Por su parte, MARK descubre la verdad sobre su salud durante una borrachera de KATHERINE:
“Por eso os váis a casar, por JERRY KENDERSON: él te explicará porqué PAM quiere casarse contigo...JESSICA ataca a CLAYTON por haber vendido SOUTHERN CROSS y haber dejado a DUSTY sin patrimonio. MARK y PAM pasan una última noche juntos:
"Ojalá te hubiera conocido cuando tenía 10 años...Lamento haber vivido tantos años sin conocerte. Quiero que sepas cuánta felicidad me has traído y me traerás. Quiero que seas feliz, esta noche y siempre. Hagamos que sea una noche perfecta." CLIFF se conciencia de que puede perderlo todo y una llamada telefónica nubla el futuro de PAM: MARK ha perdido la vida en un accidente de aviación mientras sobrevolaba el Golfo de Méjico con su avión...
KATHERINE confesses BOBBY her affair with J.R., unaware that he has lied to her and BOBBY knows nothing about the tape:
“I hated it, BOBBY. All the time I was thinking of you. I couldn't believe he'd actually play that tape for you...” BOBBY realizes the type of person she really is and rejects her ex-sister-in-law...CLAYTON pressures ELLIE to marry before than J.R. and JESSICA may interfere. MARK finds out the truth about his health due to a drunk KATHERINE:
“That's why you're gettin' married, cos of JERRY KENDERSON: he'll tell ya why Pam's marryin' ya...” JESSICA blames CLAYTON for selling SOUTHERN CROSS and letting DUSTY without a patrimony. MARK and PAM spend their last night together:
"I wish I'd met you when I was ten... I really regret all the years that I lived I didn't know you… It's important that you know how much happiness you've brought me. How much you're gonna bring. I want you to be happy tonight, forever. Let's make this a perfect night." CLIFF is beginning to realize that he might lose everything and a phone call clouds PAM´s future: MARK has died in a plane accident while he was flying over the Gulf of Mexico...

“Tú no lo sabías, pero acudí aquel día para decirte que estaba dispuesto a intentarlo de nuevo." – confiesa PAM. “Quería hacerlo, pero antes de poder decir nada, tú dijiste que querías dejarme marchar...” “Pero eso fue a causa de su carta.” – prosigue BOBBY. – La carta que escribiste a tu abogado. KATHERINE la encontró y me la leyó...” Entonces, BOBBY recibe una llamada y debe marcharse enseguida. PAM decide visitar a KATHERINE en su hotel y, después de escuchar su confesión, la abofetea. Entretanto, J.R. descubre el secreto de JESSICA y esta rapta a ELLIE para impedir el matrimonio de su hermano:
“Tenemos que encontrarlos: JESSICA ya ha matado una vez... ¡Quién sabe lo que le hará a mamá!”
CLAYTON makes a surprising revelation to RAY and DONNA: DUSTY is not his son, but JESSICA´s; PAM finds out KATHERINE´s duplicity in her relationship with BOBBY:
“You don't know this, but I came to Thanksgiving Square that day to tell you I was ready to try again.” – confesses PAM. – I wanted to, but before I could say anything, you told me you were letting me go...” “But that's because of your letter.” – continues BOBBY. – The letter you wrote to your lawyer. KATHERINE found it and read it to me...” Then BOBBY gets a call and must leave right away. PAM decides to visit KATHERINE at her hotel and, after listening to her confession, she slaps her. Meanwhile, J.R. discovers JESSICA´s secret as she kidnaps ELLIE to stop her brother´s wedding:
“We´ve just got to find them: JESSICA´s already killed once. Who knows what she´ll do with Mama!”

JESSICA conduce a toda velocidad hacia SAN ANGELO, con ELLIE amordazada y maniatada en el maletero, mientras delira:
“¡Qué sorpresa se llevará DUSTY cuando nos vea en SOUTHERN CROSS! Seremos muy felices los tres en el rancho...” En SOUTHFORK, el sheriff averigua que DONNA fue golpeada por JESSICA y esta se apropió del coche de RAY y de una de sus armas. A continuación, da la orden de búsqueda y captura del vehículo. El coche de JESSIE es localizado en un motel de COMANCHE y los EWING vuelan hasta allí. Finalmente, CLAYTON la convence para que se entregue. ELLIE es rescatada del maletero en un razonable buen estado y ruega a sus hijos que la lleven de nuevo al rancho...
Días después, PAM acude a SOUTHFORK para visitar a ELLIE. SUE ELLEN le informa de que la boda de ELLIE sigue en pie y se celebrará al día siguiente. Cuando JENNA le hace saber que ella y BOBBY van a casarse, PAM le dice fríamente:
“BOBBY es un hombre magnífico, seguro que seréis muy felices...” Acto seguido, PAM se marcha y JENNA confía a SUE ELLEN, que había subido a cambiarse: “La noticia ha sido un “shock” para ella, creo que aún está muy enamorada de BOBBY...” JESSICA ha sido internada en un hospital mental, donde han dictaminado que su trastorno proviene de mucho tiempo atrás y se manifiesta de improviso. La primera vez ocurrió cuando nació DUSTY fruto de una relación pasajera. El niño fue adoptado por CLAYTON y su mujer AMY, y ella no dejó de guardarle rencor...Después de casarse con LORD MONTFORD, se mudó a Tejas para ayudar a su hermano cuando AMY enfermó...Al ver JESSICA a DUSTY con su cuñada, su psicosis reapareció y provocó el incendio en que murió AMY...Al día siguiente, ELLIE y CLAYTON se casan en SOUTHFORK, y BOBBY y J.R. entregan a la novia.
Mientras, a CLIFF se le acaba el tiempo para encontrar petróleo en la plataforma del Golfo, PAM planea marcharse de DALLAS con su hijo:
“Tu padre volverá a casarse por culpa de mi estupidez...KATHERINE ha traicionado mi confianza...ya no sé con quién debo estar.” En las oficinas de la BARNES-WENTWORTH, CLIFF recibe la visita de VAUGHN LELAND y...J.R. A través del banquero, J.R. prestó a CLIFF 250 millones de dólares para invertir en la plataforma marina. El objetivo: arruinarle y quedarse él con el negocio. KATHERINE acude a la EWING OIL para demostrarle a BOBBY que puede cambiar, pero,al enterarse de sus planes de boda con JENNA, advierte llena de ira:
“Esto no se ha terminado aún”, lanzándole una mirada asesina a J.R. RAY y DONNA informan preocupados a BOBBY de que RANDOLPH se dirige a DALLAS decidido a matar a J.R. y los tres inician su búsqueda. CLIFF echa a AFTON de casa diciéndole que no podrá tener ninguna relación mientras J.R. siga vivo. PETER se reúne con J.R. y SUE ELLEN, que le han prometido ayudarle a librarse de la acusación de posesión de cocaína. J.R. les deja helados:
“Sólo hay una manera de impedir que vaya a la cárcel: si vuelves a mi habitación, SUE ELLEN...” PETER se abalanza sobre él y le amenaza de muerte, antes de que le saquen a la fuerza del restaurante. “A partir de ahora, yo diré cuándo y dónde debes estar...” En el Edificio EWING, J.R. recibe una misteriosa llamada de alguien con intenciones asesinas. En su apartamento, PETER arranca furioso el teléfono, lo estrella contra la pared, y sale de allí con paso firme. LUCY, que había estado llamándole, se siente intrigada cuando TERESA le cuenta que SUE ELLEN ha cogido algo del cajón y se ha marchado rápidamente...En la BARNES-WENTWORTH, VAUGHN oye cómo JACKIE recibe una repentina llamada: CLIFF ha encontrado petróleo antes de que se cumpliese el plazo de embargo.
“Ahora es lo bastante poderoso para arruinarme, después de lo que le he hecho...Maldito J.R., me ha sentenciado a muerte...” Esa noche, se abren las puertas del ascensor de las Oficinas de la EWING OIL. Alguien se introduce sigilosamente, protegido por las sombras. Tras comprobar que las secretarias ya se han marchado, entra con decisión en el despacho de J.R., y dispara tres veces contra la persona que ocupa el asiento. Segundos después, la víctima cae al suelo y suelta el teléfono que sostenía...Allí, inconsciente y gravemente herido por su asaltante, yace el cuerpo de BOBBY...
JESSICA drives against speed limits towards SAN ANGELO, with ELLIE gagged and hand-tied in the trunk, while she raves:
“DUSTY will get such a surprise when he will see us in SOUTHERN CROSS! The three of us will be very happy at the ranch...” At SOUTHFORK, the sheriff learns that DONNA was hit by JESSICA and she stole RAY´s car and one of his guns. Right away, he orders the search and capture of the car...JESSIE´s car is tracked down in a COMANCHE motel and the EWINGS fly over there. Eventually, CLAYTON persuades her to give herself up. ELLIE is rescued from the trunk in a reasonably good condition and begs her sons to take her to the ranch again...
A few days after that, PAM comes to SOUTHFORK to visit ELLIE. SUE ELLEN informs that ELLIE´s wedding still is on, and will be celebrated the next day. When JENNA tells her that she and BOBBY are engaged to be married, PAM says very coldly:
“BOBBY is a wonderful man, I´m sure you will be very happy...” Right after, PAM leaves and JENNA confides to SUE ELLEN, who had gone upstairs to change her clothes: “The news has been a shock to her, it´s obvious she´s still very much in love with BOBBY...” JESSICA has been committed to a mental hospital, where they have diagnosed that her disturbance was originated very long ago and it suddenly becomes apparent. The first time it happened when DUSTY was born out of a temporary relationship. The baby was adopted by CLAYTON and his wife AMY, but JESSIE kept feeling resented to her...After marrying LORD MONTFORD, she moved back to Texas to help his brother when AMY was sick...When JESSICA saw DUSTY with her sister-in-law, her psychosis surfaced and she caused the fire where AMY met death...The next day, ELLIE and CLAYTON get married at SOUTHFORK, with BOBBY and J.R. delivering the bride.
As CLIFF is out of time to hit oil at the Gulf platform, PAM plans to leave DALLAS with his son:
“Your daddy’s gonna have a new wife because of my stupidity...KATHERINE has betrayed me…CHRISTOPHER, I don’t even know where I belong anymore!” At BARNES-WENTWORTH offices, CLIFF receives VAUGHN LELAND and...J.R. Through the banker, J.R. loaned CLIFF 250 million dollars in order to invest on the offshore platform. His objective: bring him down and take the business deal for himself. “ You needed slappin’ down. The only way I could get through that thick skull o’ yours was to have you bankrupt your mother’s company. BARNES, you have succeeded in becoming the perfect failure." KATHERINE shows up at EWING OIL to prove BOBBY that she can change, but when she knows about his wedding plans to JENNA, she furiously warns:
“This isn´t over yet...” – looking at J.R. with a killer look in her eyes. Worried RAY and DONNA report BOBBY that RANDOLPH is driving to DALLAS determined to kill J.R. and the three of them start to search for him. CLIFF yells AFTON out of the house, saying that he will never have a relationship as long as J.R.´s alive. PETER joins J.R. and SUE ELLEN, who had promised to help him to get rid of the accusation of cocaine possession. J.R. shocks them:
“There’s only one way he’s gonna stay outta jail. I want you back in my room and I want you back in my bed, SUE ELLEN...” PETER lunges at him and swears he´ll kill him before to be dragged away from the restaurant. “From now on, I want you where I want you and when I want you...” Later at EWING Building, J.R. gets a mysterious call from someone with killing intents. At his apartment, an angry PETER pulls out the phone, launches it to the wall and rushes out of there. LUCY, who has been calling him, is intrigued when TERESA explains that SUE ELLEN has picked something out of the drawer and left in a hurry...At BARNES-WENTWORTH, VAUGHN hears JACKIE answering a sudden call: CLIFF has found oil before the delayed payment is out.
“After what I did to him, BARNES will crush me…J.R. and his lousy schemes; that man has crucified me!” That night, the elevator door in the EWING OIL offices opens in the dark. Someone walks in silently, protected by the shadows. After checking that the secretaries are all out, the person goes into J.R.´s office and shoots three times at the person sitting on the chair. Seconds later, the victim falls around and holds off the phone in his hand...Down there, unconscious and seriously injured by his assailant, lies BOBBY´s body...
