Announcements
THANKS to all who traveled to Humboldt for the game this past Friday! Thanks again to all who traveled to the home side to cheer us on for our performance!
Regular rehearsal schedule this week with a full costume/hat run through on Thursday at the end of practice. If a student DOES NOT have his/her costume at practice on Thursday he/she will NOT have a costume change on Friday or Saturday. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT EVERYONE HAS HIS/HER COSTUME AT THURSDAY'S REHEARSAL!
Monday is our final Band Booster meeting before our Contest. It is at 7 p.m. in the band room. We need EVERYONE'S help to pull off this event! We need you at the meeting TOMORROW NIGHT if at all possible. If you are not able to attend the meeting due to prior commitments but would like to help, contact Kim Todd so we will know we can count on you being there. Thanks in advance for your willingness to help!
Hornline members will have to play-off "Amazing Grace" for their section leaders Tuesday during sectionals.
We will begin selling Boston Butts soon. Butts are $30 each and will be picked up the morning of the contest. Begin asking folks if they would be interested in purchasing one! Order forms will be going out within the week.
Friday is our first home game! Each student must be dress in FULL UNIFORM (theme shirt, uniform jacket, bibs, LONG-NOT SHORT OF ANY KIND black socks, marching shoes and gloves) at 6:30 p.m. in the band room. Students are recommended to arrive at 6 p.m. to get ready. Mr. Brockman/Ms. Evans will have gloves for sale this week for $3 per pair. Shoes will be in this week and it is recommended students wear their shoes to break them in before performing Friday and Saturday. Remember shoes MUST be paid in advance ($34) before a student can receive them.
Saturday is our first contest at Graves Co. HS in Mayfield, KY! We will meet in the gand room @ 12:30 for rehearsal. Students should eat lunch BEFORE they arrive for rehearsal. The contest begins @ 5:30 with us performing @ 6:30. See the attached itinerary for exact details. We hope as many of you as possible will make the 1 1/2 hour drive to Mayfield to cheer on these kids for all their hard work and effort over these last few months. If you have never been to a marching contest, please adhere to the Marching Contest Etiquette that is attached ot this email. The students will be briefed and expected to adhere to these guidelines as well.
The second Disney Trip payment of $150 is due to Thomas Tours by September 15! Be sure if you have fundraised the money you mail in the payment slip and write "fundraised payment" on the slip being mailed. See the band website- http://gchsmarchingpioneers.org for the trip brochure.
Hopefully seniors are already in the process of getting scholarship applications printed and ready to send the Division II State by theOCTOBER 1ST DEADLINE! This is a great opportunity for seniors to get FREE money for doing band in college-regardless of being a music major or not. This is an opportunity you don't need to miss out on!
Percussion Shirts are in! Students have been given their totals due before they can get their shirts.
The next guard fee payment for winter warm-ups will be due in the coming weeks-just a heads up!
