Part #2 grades should be available for you to view on grade portal and grades were posted by student numbers on Mr. Tate's office window. All students MUST achieve a passing grade by Thursday in order to march.

  • Don't forget to pay for your child's marching shoes ($28/guard; $34/band). They should be arriving soon.

  • All paid merchandise will be distributed TOMORROW during class. If you are missing something or would like to order more, please contact Sharon Lee @ lees6@k12tn.net. Check your orders immediately. Students free shirts are packed in the orders (their size is circled at the top of the order). If a student didn't have an extra order, their free shirt has been put into a bag with their name. If a student had more than one order, their free shirt is in the first one we came to when packing. THANKS to Alan Abbott for his help with packing the orders.

  • The next band fee payment of $30 is due THIS FRIDAY! Please make all payments in a timely fashion so we can insure our bills are paid on time.

  • This Friday is our first away football game. Students signed up for their respective buses this past Friday during class. The game begins @ 7:30. We will meet for immediate departure in the band room @ 4:30. The attire for the game will be polos (TUCKED IN), khaki shorts and tennis shoes. All students MUST ride the bus to ALL events that do not take place at the school. We should arrive in Scott's Hill around6:30. We are checking to see if the concession stand will be open. If so, the students will need money to eat at the concession stand from6:30-6:50. If not, we will make alternative plans to stop somewhere so the students can get food or you can pack them a sack meal. We will begin warm-up @ 7:00 and march into the stadium for the 7:30 start time Game time was moved to 7:00. Students will have strict rules as to what they can and cannot do while in the stands. We will perform through Part #2 this week at halftime. Students will have 3rd quarter off to eat, drink and socialize. They will be expected to be back in their seats and ready to play at the beginning of the 4th quarter or risk losing their 3rd quarter privileges for the next game. WATER IS THE ONLY DRINK ALLOWED IN THE STANDS-NO FOOD IN THE STANDS. After the game, we will march back to the buses to pack and load equipment. After all this is done, you can begin to check out your child with their specific bus chaperone. YOU CAN ONLY CHECK OUT YOUR CHILD IF YOU TURNED IN A RIDE HOME FORM BY THURSDAY @ 5 P.M. If you take your child and do not have a ride home form, you will forfeit your ability to check them out for the rest of the year-NO EXCEPTIONS. FOR FRIDAYGAMES, RIDE HOME FORMS WILL ALWAYS BE DUE BY THURSDAY AT 5 P.M. NO EXCEPTIONS. Your student may NOT be checked out by another child's parent unless you notate on your ride home form to whom they are to be released AND that parent can show proof they have the school board approved insurance to transport other people's children. You can check your child out and then YOU CAN PUT THEM in a car with another parent but we cannot release a student to another parent without the above stated pieces of required information. Students who ride the bus will be given a message by their chaperones when we are 30 minutes away from the school so they can call and let you know when to be at the school. Please leave immediately when you receive the call as to not keep the directors at school for extended periods after arriving back. Once back at the school, students are allowed to ride with whomever you choose. They are not required to be checked out at this point.

  • The week of September 2 we will begin practicing the change from uniforms into costumes. All students must bring his/her costume between now and then and hang them up on his/her uniform bag. Mr. Tate is still in need of about 5-10 costumes. If you have any extras, please send and put your name in them so as to receive them after the season.

  • One of the best ways that West TN has to recognize the BEST OF THE BEST as far as individual musicians are concerned is the All-West TN Honor Band Clinic held in Memphis in late January. The All-West audition music became available this past week. Students have between now and January 11 to work on this music before they audition in Jackson. If a student auditions (make it or not), he/she will receive lettering credit. Mr. Tate STRONGLY ENCOURAGES each student to consider auditioning. The link to the music and recordings (not yet posted but will be soon) can be found on our website: https://sites.google.com/site/gchsmarchingpioneers/Home/fun-things. NOTE: Junior High music is for students in grades 7-9. Senior High music is for students in grades 10-12.
