Announcements:

  • I hope that everyone had a nice week off!

  • Rehearsals resume THIS WEEK! We have rehearsal on both Tuesday & Thursday nights this week from 6:00-9:00 pm! ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY! We will meet briefly in the band room to check attendance and then head outside for the remainder of the rehearsal block. Be sure students are prepared for the heat just like they were at band camp (water, sun screen, snacks, hat, cool clothing, tennis shoes, etc.). They will also need instruments, music, and dot sheets.

  • The band room carpet has been cleaned! I need all section leaders/captains/drum majors at the school at 5:30 on Tuesday to get everything set back up for rehearsal at 6:00!

  • Percussion Fees ($85) or shirt sponsors (4) are due no later than THIS TUESDAY NIGHT, July 28th!

  • School starts back NEXT Monday, August 3rd for a 1/2 day (7:55-11:30). No meals will be served that day and we will not play or rehearse that day.

  • We will begin normal rehearsal schedule (minus sectionals) on Tuesday, August 4th. Check the website under the calendar tab for details.

  • Trailer Sponsorship Forms + Money need to be turned in ASAP!

  • You can begin to pay for your student's polo ($15), band shoes ($36), guard shoes ($34) for this upcoming year. Checks should be made out to the GC Band and put in an envelope with your child's name on it and what it's for and the amount. PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE THIS WITH YOUR MECHANDISE ORDER! They will not receive these items until full payment has been made.

  • Preview Night will be here before you know it....August 20th @ 6:30 in the stadium! Invite your friends, family, neighbors, etc... Tickets will be $5/person for the hamburger/hot dog supper that follows the show and will go on sale soon!

  • The Dodge Booster Drive will happen that same night as preview night from 5:00-8:00 pm at the main entrance of the school. The band receives $20 per person who test drives a car so please encourage everyone coming to the preview show to arrive a few minutes early to test drive a car to help support the band!

  • The first memorization test over Part I will be Monday, August 10th during band class. The memorization grade makes up 33% of the student's grade for the nine weeks so be sure they are starting to memorize their music NOW!

  • The next band booster's meeting will be Monday, August 10th in the band room @ 7:00 pm! Mark your calendars and make plans to attend!

  • Apparel Orders + Money are due no later than FRIDAY, AUGUST 14TH! If you need another order form there is one attached to this email.

Upcoming Dates:

    • Monday, August 3rd - School starts back!

    • Tuesday, August 4th - First after school rehearsal (3-5)

    • Monday, August 10th - 1st Memorization Test over Part I during band class! Regular after school rehearsal schedule begins...Guard Sectional (3-5); Percussion Sectional (5-8)

    • Tuesday, August 11th - Full Band Rehearsal (3-5); Hornline Sectionals (5-6)

    • Thursday, August 13th - Full Band Rehearsal (3-5)

    • Friday, August 14th - Apparel Orders + Money are DUE!

    • Monday, August 17th - 2nd Memorization Test over Part II during band class time. Regular rehearsal schedule for the week.

    • Thursday, August 20th - Preview Night - 6:30 - Stadium - Students will have regular rehearsal until 5 and then they will have from 5-6 to rest before reporting back for preview night. They will wear their polos for the first time on this night so be sure they are paid for by then!

    • Friday, August 21st - 1st Football Game @ Zion Christian Academy - The band will NOT travel to this game!
