Announcements
CONGRATULATIONS to Marylee Barker on being selected the 2014 GC Homecoming Queen!
Thanks to all those who came to the game Friday! You guys are a great cheering section which always makes for a better performance for the kids! Thanks also for your applause and support of the visiting bands each week.
Students will have their final MEMORIZATION TEST TOMORROW over the closer/post show during class! All grades have been updated on PowerSchool for you to view. Students MUST memorize this tune with a passing grade by Thursday in order to march Friday night.
Football vs. Humboldt this Friday. Kickoff is @ 7 p.m. We will meet in the band room @ 6 p.m. The attire for Friday will be polos (TUCKED IN), khaki shorts and tennis shoes.
Band Fee payments of $30 were due this PAST FRIDAY! We had several students who did not turn in these payments. We need these turned in ASAP so we are able to pay our monthly bills.
NEXT MONDAY will be our last band booster meeting before our contest! The meeting is September 8 @ 7 p.m. in the band room. If you want to help out in any way with the contest WE NEED YOU AT THIS MEETING! Please make every attempt to attend! It takes EVERYONE to pull off this event. If you can't be at the meeting and want to help, contact Kim Todd @ dokitodd@live.com and she will get your plugged in.
Thanks to all who sold your part in the Braided Bread Fundraiser. Bread is scheduled to be delivered NEXT TUESDAY, September 9. Pay attention to your email for information regarding time and place of delivery.
Marching shoes are in and will be handed out this week. Students will receive their shoes ONLY is they are paid in full ($36/pair). We will wear these for the first time next week (Friday, September 12). Students will need to break them in before we perform in them so they don't rub blisters on their feet.
All hornline members will need GLOVES for Friday, September 12! Gloves are $3 per pair and ARE REQUIRED as part of the uniform. See Ms. Evans or Mr. Brockman to purchase your gloves-you can only wear the gloves we sell!
The link to All-West music has been posted to the bands website (http://gchsmarchingpioneers.org) under forms. Mr. Tate strongly encourages students who are interested to try out for All-West. It looks great on a college scholarship application!
