  • Announcements:

  • Fruit and Nut Orders and Money are DUE TOMORROW! Make sure they are turned in so we can get the order placed ASAP! Each student was asked to sell at least $60 in products or get $30 in donations. Hopefully everyone was able to do so since this is our biggest fundraiser (other than our contest) we do each year! Orders will be delivered the week of December 2. Top sellers and prize money will be announced at the Christmas Concert.

  • TOMORROW is the last day for interested students to sign up to apply for UTM Honor Band! If selected, students will attend the Festival January 23-25 in Martin which requires these students to be registered for Concert Band.

  • Sign-ups for those interested in auditioning for All-West TN Honor Bands will be posted this week. This is a very prestigious honor if selected to participate. A lot of scholarships are awarded to students who make All-West. Students who choose to audition will receive lettering credit. The auditions are in Jackson on January 11. The cost is $7 to audition. Encourage your student to audition for this great opportunity to be among the best musicians in West TN!

  • Not many students responded for the private lesson opportunity which was sent last week. Any student who takes lessons for 6 or more weeks will receive lettering credit and become a better player! Hopefully you will consider this especially if your student is trying out for All-West, applying for Honor Band, or looking for scholarship money in the coming months/years. This will make them a better musician and ultimately help the band move to the next level. Contact Mr. Hoekstra, Ms. Evans, Mr. Brockman or Mr. Tico today to get started!

  • Information will be sent this week on the requirements for your student to letter in band for this academic year. If a student letters consecutively in any organization it looks great on scholarship applications because it shows they are willing to go above and beyond the normal expectations.

  • The Band "Memory Book" produced by Ms. Maureen Crews is ready to be ordered! These books cost $40. Order forms will be sent home and emailed out this week. In order to reserve your copy, you will need to send a completed form with a $15 deposit to the school before we leave for Thanksgiving Break!

  • Continue to take care of any remaining debt (band fees, tshirts, reed, sticks, etc.)

  • Encourage your student to continue to practice their scales for their final exam which beginsMonday, December 16th! It will be here quickly!
