Announcements:

• • Thanks to everyone who lined the streets of Trenton at the Teapot Parade this past Saturday! The kids did a great job! The awards were....1st place drum major, 1st place guard, and 1st place band. There was no percussion judge. I hope many of you will plan to line the streets of Humboldt this Friday to help cheer on this great group of students one more time!

  • End of Course Testing begins TOMORROW! Due to the Strawberry Festival on Friday, there is no make-up day for the EOC tests this week so be sure your student is present each and every day this week! The EOC test score is worth 25% of your student's grade for this nine weeks so be sure they try their best!

  • Fall 2015 Guard Auditions are TOMORROW from 3:30 until 5. All students' parents who make the line for next year will have a MANDATORY meeting immediately following the auditions in the library. The auditions are closed and no one from the outside is allowed to attend the auditions.

  • Parade Band Rehearsal for Tuesday has been cancelled! We will rehearse ONLY on Thursday of this week from 3-5.

  • Senior Exams are this Wednesday (2nd & 4th block) and Thursday (1st & 3rd blocks)!

  • THIS FRIDAY IS THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL IN HUMBOLDT! The parade begins at 9:30 on Main Street. We will meet at 8 in the band room for immediate departure to Humboldt. All students need to plan to arrive in Humboldt and change IMMEDIATELY into uniform so the truck can move to the end of the parade route. We are the last band in the parade. All students MUST ride the bus to the parade but at the end of the parade you may check them out at the buses or at the lunch stop (McDonalds parking lot). All ride home forms are due THIS THURSDAY! Ride home forms are attached to this email. This will be our seniors last performance so I hope many of you plan to make the trip to Humboldt to send off our seniors on a good last note!

  • The band banquet is THIS FRIDAY NIGHT @ 6:30 at First Baptist Church in Dyer! The attire is business casual. Advanced ticket is REQUIRED! The last day to purchase a ticket was this past Friday. We will begin the evening by eating a catered meal by Northside Market in Milan followed by the recognition of many of our students' accomplishments from this past year and then conclude the evening with the announcement of next year's show/student leadership and a DVD presentation highlighting our past year while paying tribute to the Class of 2015. I hope you will join us for this special night!

  • Memory Books will be handed out at the door on Friday night for those who have paid their balances in full!

  • The Color Guard will be hosting a bake sale THIS SATURDAY from 8-12 in the Food Rite parking lot in Dyer! Come out and get your mom a dessert for Mother's Day while supporting the GCHS Color Guard!

Upcoming Dates:

• • Thursday, May 14th - Band's Freshmen Orientation - 6:30 - Band Room - Any student leader announced at this Friday's banquet is REQUIRED to attend this event. They will have to be there at 6!

  • Friday, May 15th - Color Guard Clinic with our NEW guard designer - 3:30-5:00- Practice Gym

  • Friday, May 15th - Graduation - 6:00 - Bo Booth Gymnasium - All non graduating concert band members are REQUIRED to play! They will need to be in their seats on the gym floor dressed in concert attire no later than 5:15!

  • May 20th and 21st - Final Exams

  • May 21st - Last Day of School (1/2 day)

  • June 9, 16, 23 - June rehearsals - 6-9 pm - Attendance is REQUIRED for at least 2 out of the 3 rehearsals in order to secure a spot in next year's field show!

  • July 6-10 - Percussion/Guard Camp - 8:00-4:30 - Attendance is MANDATORY!

  • July 8-10 - Fundamentals Camp (FULL BAND!) - 8:00-11:30 - Attendance is MANDATORY!

  • July 13-17 - Full Band Camp - 8:00am-DARK - Attendance is MANDATORY!
