THANK YOU to everyone who lined the streets of Trenton this past Saturday to help cheer on the band! They placed first in the high school division. Guard and Drum Majors placed 2nd.
CONGRATULATIONS to the four ladies who tried out for Drum Major this past Friday! They all did a terrific job but unfortunately we are only able to select two. Your Fall 2013 Drum Majors are Mary Beth Chandler and Maddie Abbott.
Mr. Brockman and the GC Jazz Band did a great job at the Teapot Music Feast this past Tuesday. There were several compliments about how good this group sounded!
We are selling cases of 24 oz. Pepsi products (started last Friday). Each student in grades 8-11 is asked to sell at least 5 cases. The band will receive $5 for each case sold and the student's trip account will receive $2 for each case sold. This is our first fundraiser to start building the funds for our 13/14 season! Let's start out strong by EVERYONE doing his/her part. Money and orders are due no later than Friday, May 17th. Orders will be delivered during the first June rehearsal-June 11th. Forms went home with high school students Friday and will go home with 8th graders tomorrow.
ALL UNIFORMS ARE DUE BACK AT SCHOOL TOMORROW.
Fall 2013 Color Guard Auditions will be TOMORROW from 3:30 until completed. These will be in the main gym. There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting for all 13/14 guard members' parents immediately following the auditions.
Fall 2013 Percussion Section auditions will be TOMORROW from 5-7 p.m. in the band room.
The Parade Band Color Guard will rehearse TOMORROW @ 5:30 in the main gym!
EOC Exams are Tuesday-Thursday this week. This exam is worth 25% of the student's grade for the nine weeks in their EOC class. Be sure students are getting a good night's rest before these tests! Remind them to eat a good breakfast!
Senior Exams are Wednesday and Thursday of this week!
The Parade Band will rehearse ONLY on Thursday of this week from 3:15-5:00!
The Strawberry Festival will be THIS FRIDAY on Main Street in Humboldt! The parade begins @ 9:30 a.m. Students will need to be in their seats @ 8:00 a.m. in theme shirts and shorts. Hopefully lots of folks will be able to line the streets and cheer us on!! The judge's stand is located in front of the old Main Street Elementary School building. Students will be allowed to sign-out immediately following the parade at the buses which will be located at the end of the parade route. Ride Home Forms are due no later than Thursday @ 5 p.m.!!! You can now find the ride home form on our website @ https://sites.google.com/site/gchsmarchingpioneers/Home/fun-things. Students riding home on the bus will need money for lunch in Humboldt. We should arrive back to GC around 2 (depending on parade length). HAVE YOUR RIDE THERE!
The Band Banquet is THIS FRIDAY @ 6:30 at the Yorkville Community Center. The attire for the night is semi-formal. come out as we celebrate the accomplishments of this past year!

All non-graduating concert band members will begin working on music for the Fall 2013 Show and Graduation NEXT MONDAY!!! Students will need BOTH marching and concert instruments at school.
For the students who are announced as Fall 2013 Leaders during the banquet, you need to make plans to attend the Band's Freshman Orientation on Monday, may 20th @ 6:30 in the band room.
