Announcements:

    • Any upcoming junior or senior band member who is interested in a leadership position in next year's band should attend a brief meeting TOMORROW AFTERNOON in the band room @ 3:05!

    • The Jazz Band will meet TOMORROW from 3:15-4:30 in the theatre!

    • Fall 2016 Guard Clinic #5 will take place TOMORROW from 3:30 until 5 in the main gym!

    • Band Booster Meeting - TOMORROW NIGHT - 7:00 - Band Room - Come and be a part as we talk about parades, band banquet, freshmen orientation, and other important items!

    • Our annual "Pops Concert" will be held THIS TUESDAY @ 6:30 in the theatre! The concert is FREE and open to the public so invite your friends, family, and neighbors out for a great night of music by the jazz and concert bands of Gibson County! Students have to be dressed in concert attire (NO TSHIRTS, JEANS, SHORTS, TENNIS) @ 5:45 in the theatre. All equipment will have to be moved back to the band room immediately following the concert BEFORE any student will be dismissed.

    • The Percussion Section will be hosting a silent auction TUESDAY NIGHT in conjunction with the concert so plan to arrive early so you can view and bid on the great items that they will have for auction!

    • ALL LETTERING CREDIT IS DUE TO ME NO LATER THAN THIS FRIDAY IN ORDER FOR A STUDENT TO LETTER IN BAND THIS SCHOOL YEAR!

    • ATTENTION SENIORS/SENIOR PARENTS: Pictures of you/your student are now past due to be included in the band banquet video! If you still want your student included contact Kim Todd ASAP! The absolute deadline is THIS FRIDAY to get these pictures to Mrs. Kim!

    • Myself and a few of the high school band students went out to all of the middle schools to recruit this past Friday. We have 18 seniors and 36 eighth graders currently in band. Out of the 36: 32 said they were definitely doing high school band and 4 said that they were a maybe! Those are fantastic numbers! Please continue to encourage 8th grade band members/parents that you know to be involved in the high school band! I encouraged them all to try it just one semester! The future continues to look bright for our organization!

    • All students who still owe a debt from this past fall were issued a letter from me stating the amount of the debt and what the debt is for this past week. Please sign and return those as soon as possible acknowledging that you are aware of the debt. Remember students who owe a debt will not be allowed to graduate if a senior or attend the first June rehearsal for anyone not graduating and planning to be a part of the fall marching band!

Upcoming Dates:

    • Monday, April 18th - Memorization Test over the parade band tune (worth 33% of your student's grade for this nine weeks)!

    • Monday, April 18th - Jazz Band Rehearsal (3:15-4:30), Guard Clinic #6 (3:30-5:00)

    • Tuesday, April 19th - After school parade band rehearsal (3:15-5:00) for all NON CONCERT BAND MEMBERS and ALL COLOR GUARD MEMBERS! Remember if your student is NOT in concert band and is NOT involved in a major sport then they MUST come back for ALL PARADE BAND REHEARSALS/PARADES in order to attend the band banquet!

  • Thursday, April 21st - Full Band Parade Band Rehearsal - 3:15-5:00 - This includes BOTH concert and non concert band members! Attendance at after school rehearsals is worth 33% of your student's grade for the nine weeks!

  • April 26th & 28th - Full Parade Band Rehearsals (3-5)

  • Wednesday, April 27th - Fall 2016 Drum Major Audition Clinic - Clinic/Audition information packets are available on the table in the band room. Any questions contact Ms. Sharon.

  • Friday, April 29th - Memory Book Balances are DUE! Balances will be sent out NEXT WEEK!

  • Saturday, April 30th - Teapot Parade @ 10:00 am in Trenton! Students will have to be in Trenton at 9:15 dressed in full uniform for the parade!

  • Saturday, April 30th - Mass Band Rehearsal (MANDATORY!) will take place in Humboldt that afternoon! Students will be required to ride the bus from Trenton to Humboldt for the rehearsal. The buses will pick us up somewhere at the end of the parade route. All uniforms and equipment will have to be loaded on the truck at that time. All students will be required to wear his/her theme shirt for the rehearsal. Students may check-out with a ride home form following the rehearsal using normal check out procedures. The schedule that we will follow for the mass band rehearsal is:

      • 1:00 - 2:30 begin serving food (hot dogs, chips and water)

      • 2:30 - 3:30 sectionals

      • 3:30 - 3:45 move to block

      • 3:45 - 4:30 set block

      • 4:30 - 5:30 work block on 22nd

      • 5:30 - 6:15 snack

      • 6:15 - 7:30 reset block and march down Main Street to Central

      • 7:30 REHEARSAL ENDS! Load truck and buses and head back to GC!
