  • Rehearsal Schedule for the week:

  • Monday-Guard Sectional (3-5); Percussion Sectional (5-8)

  • Tuesday-Full Band Rehearsal @ UTM (6-9); Meet @ 5:30

  • Thursday-Full Band Rehearsal in GC stadium (6-9)

  • Friday-Leave for state @ 5 p.m.

  • Saturday-DIVISION II STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!

  • Sunday-Travel home from State

  • THANKS to all who came out for Senior Night and/or to the Crockett Co. contest Saturday night! It was a great performance weekend for our seniors!

  • THANKS to all who did their part in selling braided bread! Orders will be in Thursday, November 7 @ 3 p.m. for students to take at the end of school.

  • State Room Money was due this past Friday. We need this money ASAP! We had to mail the check to the hotel and we need to make good on this payment.

  • TUESDAY-We will travel to UT Martin for rehearsal. Students will need to be in their seats @ 5:30 ready for immediate departure. The outer layer on top must be their polos! Dress appropriately for the weather underneath the polo. EVERYONE MUST RIDE THE BUS TO UT MARTIN but you may check your child out after your rehearsal if you turn in a ride home form. Ride home forms are due NO LATER THAN TUESDAY @ 5:30. NO EXCEPTIONS. We will leave Martin around 9:30 and arrive at GC around 10:15. Make sure all homework is completed from 3-5:30.

  • On Tuesday and Thursday night rehearsals we will provide the students with fruit and snacks during their break times. Thanks to Ms. DeDe for organizing this. Each section is asked to bring the following items and place them under the band room table (with your name on it). These are needed no later than Tuesday morning to allow parents time to prepare it:

  • FLUTES-1 pineapple each

  • CLARINETS/SAXOPHONES-4 oranges each

  • MELLOPHONES/TUBAS-2 boxes of Little Debbie Cakes each

  • TRUMPETS-1 bunch of purple or green seedless grapes

  • BARITONES-4 apples each (red or yellow)

  • BATTERY/FRONT ENSEMBLE/DRUM MAJORS-BIG bag of chips

  • GUARD-3 boxes of Capri Sun each (in cast its too warm for Hot Chocolate)

  • Thursday night we will rehearse in the stadium from 6-9. Polos should still be the outer layer on top. Dress appopriately for the weather under the polo. We will have several guests at this rehearsal to critique the band during the night.

  • The final band fee payment of $30 is due THIS FRIDAY! This should be the last band fee payment for the regular season if you have made all of your payments on time and in their full amounts. These payments will become a debt and turned into the office as such in December unless other arrangements have been made.

  • Friday-We will leave for State @ 5:15. Everyone must be in their seats @ 5:00. Students will need money for 3 meals (2 @ the contestSaturday and 1 @ the mall Sunday). Around $20 per student should be adequate-depending on what they order.

  • Saturday-We travel to Independence HS. See attached itinerary for exact details. Hopefully all of you will be able to travel to state and sit together to help cheer on these great students and their hard work/effort they have poured into this show since June. We are really reaching our peak at the right time and how great it is to have all of you cheering in the stands!

  • Sunday-We travel home from state. Note the time change. Parents will have 2 opportunities to check out their students on Sunday. See itinerary for those details.

  • State does have contests t-shirts and other items for purchase. Most of the shirts start around $15-$20.

  • RIDE HOME FORMS FOR STATE COMPETITION WILL BE DUE THURSDAY BY 5 P.M......NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • Upcoming Dates:

  • Monday, November 4th - NO SCHOOL! Professional Development Day! Enjoy the rest after the big weekend.

  • Tuesday, November 5th - After state party @ 1:30. 8th graders are welcome to attend if parents want to work out transportation to/from the high school

  • Wednesday, November 6th - Unload the truck

  • Thursday, November 7th - Composite Pictures @ 1:30 - 8th graders are welcome to attend to be included on the composite. Braided Bread order will be sorted and ready to take home at 3:00 pm

  • Friday, November 8th - To practice field to pick up jar lids

  • Monday - November 11th - Christmas Concert Music BEGINS! All concert horns MUST be at school and in good playing condition then. Don't wait until the last minute!

This is it - State week. I can't believe it's here already. The time has truly flown by, and I can't wait for Saturday. -Zach
