Announcements:

    • GREAT JOB by members of the GC Percussion section who performed at the Lights, Camera, Fashion Show that was held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center last night. The event raised thousands of dollars for St. Jude. Thanks to Tico for his hard work and dedication to our students and getting them out there and involved in such a great event for a great cause!

    • University of Memphis Honor Band participants MUST turn in his/her room $ along with their permission slip signed by all their teachers TOMORROW in order to attend the honor band this Thursday-Saturday.

    • Jazz Band meets TOMORROW from 3:15-4:30 in the band room.

    • We have our final regular season pep band game THIS TUESDAY NIGHT! This is a MADATORY performance for all concert band members! We will meet at 5:15 for the 6:00 tip-off. Students should be dressed in GC attire. Students are encouraged to complete as much homework as possible between 3 and 5.

    • Percussion Ensemble meets Tuesday & Thursday this week from 5-7 in the band room.

    • Memory Book Order Forms + the $15 deposit are due in an envelope to the box in the band office no later than THIS WEDNESDAY! The order form is attached.

    • Solo/Ensemble registration fees ($10/event) are due by THIS FRIDAY! Students signed up this past week for the event. Students picked our their own solo/ensemble music for the event and are expected to do the majority of practice on their music on their own time. We are always available for questions but we will not start working with the students on their music until the week of the event. If students have not practiced their music by the time that we hear them then they will not be allowed to attend so make sure your student is practicing his/her solo/ensemble!

    • The Univ. of Memphis Honor Band Clinic will be held this Thursday-Saturday in Memphis. We will depart at 2:00 on Thursday. Students will need just school type clothes for Thursday and Friday. They will need concert attire (black/white) for Saturday. They will need money for 3 meals and will need to bring breakfast food with them for the hotel room as they restaurant in the hotel is very pricey. Remember that the bus is dropping us off on Thursday and then returning home so all students are expected to have a parent attend the concerts on Saturday in order to transport them back home. The hotel is located directly across the street from the campus but walking will be our main source of transportation once we're there so students will need to dress for the weather.

    • Yankee Candle order forms were handed out this past Tuesday during class to concert band members! This is a fundraiser for students who are going on the Gatlinburg trip in March. 40% of the total that each student sales will be deposited into his/her trip account by the next payment deadline of February 12th. The next payment is $150 so if you wanted to cover all of that payment your student will need to sell at least $350 on the Yankee Candle fundraiser. Any amount over $350 will be carried over to the final payment which is due in March. If your student is not going on the trip and your student sales merchandise then the 40% will be deposited into the general fund. Friends/family can also order online at www.yankeecandlefundraising.com using our group number: 99923407. Orders + money are due no later than Wednesday, February 10th so that we can get that payment to Thomas Tours by the 12th!

    • Monday, February 8th is our NEXT BOOSTER MEETING @ 7:00 PM IN THE BAND ROOM! We will be discussing the stew that will be another fundraiser for those students who are going on the trip! If you want to participate in this fundraiser to help raise money for your student's trip then we NEED you at this meeting. If we do not have enough people at the meeting willing to work the stew then we won't do the stew this year so make plans NOW to attend this meeting to help cover your student's trip to Gatlinburg!

    • The All-West Honor Band Clinic is NEXT THURSDAY-SATURDAY! Students will leave at 8:30 on that Thursday. Students will need breakfast items for the hotel room and money for 4 meals. Concert attire (black/white) will be worn on that Saturday for the concerts.

    • FYI: We are anticipating both the girls/boys basketball teams to advance far into both the district and regional tournaments which are BOTH held at Gibson County. The pep band will plan to play at as many of these games as possible. We will not know this schedule until February 10th but those details will be released as soon as I get them. Wendy Tate will also need lots of you parents to work concessions during these tournaments as the band is responsible to work concessions for at least 4 of these games during the tournaments so be ready to volunteer if your schedule allows.
