Announcements

  • The 2nd memorization test for the semester will be TOMORROW over Part 2 during band class. All students will be expected to play the entire song from beginning to end MEMORIZED in order to perform at the Preview Show on Thursday and the FB gameFriday! The Part 1 Memorization grades have been posted on PowerSchool if you have access and students have seen their grades posted in the office by the assigned number. Students should have brough home information from his/her 1st block teacher (this past Friday) on how to log in to our new grading system called PowerSchool. This allows you to monitor your student's grades from home.

  • Preview Night Tickets and Money are due TOMORROW! Each student was asked to sell at least 5 tickets for the showThursday! Each person that you sold a ticket will need to come to the check-in table Thursday and register under your student's name. We will order a little extra food but no one is guaranteed food unless they have purchased an advance ticket.

  • POLOS WILL BE IN THIS WEEK! Be sure your student has paid his/her $15 in order to receive his/her polo for the preview showThursday!

  • The Dodge Booster Drive begins @ 5 p.m. Thursday in front of the high school. Each person who drives will earn the band $20! We are asking that everyone park on the sough end of the stadium (closest to the field house) and enter the stadium from the new south gate. Please NO ONE PARK in the parking places directly in front of the school so we have enough room for the Dodge drive. The drive will last until 8 p.m. or until we have at least 250 people drive. Invite people to drive! This is easy money for our band!

  • The band will have regular rehearsal Thursday (until 5). Students will then have until 6:15 to cool off and change clothes for the Preview Show. The attire for the show will be polos (TUCKED IN), khaki shorts, and tennis shoes. This will be the first performance grade for the students which is 33% of the student's grade for the nine weeks. Each high school band member will eat for FREE immediately following the show. After everything is cleaned up, students will be allowed to leave.

  • We will need plenty of hands to help Thursday night! If you can help, contact Wenday Tate @ wendyjtate@gmail.com

  • Our first FB game is Friday @ home vs. Union City! Game time is 7:30. Students will be expected to be dressed in the same attire as they will wear Thursday night and in their seats in the band room @ 6:30. Students have certain rules they have to follow @ FB games and contests (regarding food in stands, drinks and talking to friends) so please check with your student as to what those rules are so you are informed. They will get these rules verbally from their section leaders this week.

  • Braided Bread Sales began this past Tuesday! Each student is asked to sell at least 5 loaves of braided bread or get $30 in donations. Orders and money are due NEXT MONDAY, August 25. Extra forms are on the band room table if needed.

  • Continue to pay for marching shoes ($36 band/guard). These should be in by the end of the month and only those students who have paid for them will receive them.

  • The next band fee payment is due by September 1 and is $30. Since the 1st is a holiday you will need to turn in your payments by Friday, August 29.

  • Our contest that we host on October 4th is COMPLETELY FULL!!!! We will need your help on that Saturday. It takes EVERYONE to host our invitational. If you have not signed up to help with the contest yet please contact Kim Todd at dokitodd@live.com and she will get you plugged in somewhere.

  • CALENDAR CHANGE: The contest on September 6th (McCracken Co.) has cancelled and the closest contest to us on that date is 3 hours away so we have opted out of attending a contest on the 6th. Our first contest now will be at UT Martin on the 13th. We will likely rehearse the night before (12th) from 6-9 pm since we will not be attending the away ballgame that night. In its place we have added the Union City Marching Invitational after the Davy Crockett Parade on October 11th. This is an afternoon/evening contest. If you have plans for fall break you can check your child out after the contest and take them with you. This was the closest and most convenient contest that I could find on that date so hopefully it accommodates everyone's' schedules. The calendar on the website has been updated to reflect the change so please update your calendars accordingly.

  • Merchandise orders should be in and delivered this week! Any extra orders will be taken beginning at the Preview Show.
