Announcements for the week:
Thanks to everyone who traveled to the Crockett Co. competition yesterday! It always makes for a great performance when we have a great crowd like you guys! Several of the judges made reference to the crowd response throughout our show so you GUYS MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE! A special thanks to all of chaperones and pit crew members! The kids are working extremely hard during practice and now you're starting to see the fruits of their labor!
Thanks to Ms. Sharon and all the parents/students who helped sort and package theme shirt orders this past Wednesday! All other merchandise is in and will be going home with your student TOMORROW! Please email Ms. Sharon ASAP with any issues with your orders.
Thanks to Jennifer Lowrance for organizing and getting all of the Braided Bread sorted and ready for pick-up this past Thursday! I hope all of your customers have been happy with the bread.
We will begin selling Boston Butts TOMORROW! The butts will be available for pick up the morning of our competition (October 1st). Each butt will be $30 which contains 6-8 lbs. of BBQ. If you've never had one then you're really missing out. If you're helping out with the contest that day they are still good reheated or even frozen. Each student will be asked to sell at least 2 butts or get $30 in donations. All orders + money are due no later than NEXT THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd! The order form is attached to this email.
Our last Band Booster Meeting before our own contest (GCMI) will be TOMORROW NIGHT @ 7:00 PM in the band room! It takes everyone to pull off our contest at GC. Please make every effort to attend the meeting TOMORROW NIGHT! If you are unable to attend and still want to be plugged in somewhere at the contest contact Kim Todd before the meeting at dokitodd@live.com and she will get you plugged in at the contest in some capacity.
We need trophy sponsors for our competition! If you know of someone or some business who would be interested in sponsoring a 1st place ($100), 2nd place ($75), or 3rd place ($50) trophy stay tuned for an email from Rhonda Upchurch on how they can sponsor a trophy! Each sponsor will be advertised in the program and recognized over the PA system during the contest multiple times. Please encourage anyone know to become a sponsor!
Friday night is football @ Fulton County (aka the home of the largest mosquitoes)! The game begins at 7:30. We will meet at 5:15 for immediate departure. Students will have a chance to eat at concessions at the game once we arrive! Ride home forms for the game are due NO LATER THAN THURSDAY @ 5:00 pm! NO EXCEPTIONS!
Saturday is the Union City Contest! We will meet at 9:00am for immediate departure to Union City. This is a prelims/finals show in which only the top 10 scoring bands regardless of class advance to finals. This contest is HUGE this year. There are a lot of great bands on the schedule and a lot of big bands on the schedule so we have to bring our A game in prelims in order to try and secure one of the top 10 spots that evening. We perform at 1:00 in the preliminary competition. See the attached itinerary for exact details. The students will need money for lunch at the concession stand and the boosters will provide dinner for the students at the buses immediately following the preliminary competition. Full contest information including admission pricing can be found at
http://www.unioncitybands.com/uci.html. Ride home forms (see attached) for Saturday are due NO LATER THAN FRIDAY @ 3:00 PM! NO EXCEPTIONS! I hope many of you make the short drive up to Union City to help cheer on these great kids!
Thanks to all of you who have volunteered to bring some food item for this Saturday in order to feed the kids!
Don't forget about Kim's email from this past week asking your students to bring drinks (2-12 pack of cans - PEPSI PRODUCTS ONLY!) for our competition. Once your students brings them they need to place them under the band room table with your child's name on them. The last day to bring your drinks for our competition is Thursday, September 22nd! By bringing in drinks we profit more on the competition so we can provide more things for your student! Please do your part and bring in your drinks.
The deadline for Senior Scholarship Application for State is October 1st! All applications MUST be postmarked by this date! This is FREE MONEY! Don't miss out on this great opportunity!
The University of Memphis Competition also offers a scholarship for seniors as well! It's an alumni scholarship of $1000 which is stacked on top of any university money that a student gets. The student must attend the University of Memphis and march in the marching his/her first year. Any senior interested should see me for an application.
The umbrellas shipped this past Friday and should be in THIS WEEK! We have ordered 96 umbrellas and they are $25/each. The picture of the umbrella is attached. If each student sells at least 1 umbrella we will be sold out in just 1 day. They will be available on a first come first served basis. If you want to RSVP to have one saved for you or someone you know, YOU CAN! Simply email Kim Todd at dokitodd@live.com and she will reserve one for you!
